    The 2.0T is absolutely enough power. No, it doesn't make glorious V6 sounds, but it definitely makes V6 power. The boost comes on in a liquid rush and we have no issues towing a 3200 lb pop-up trailer with our 2018 Q7 2.0T. The fuel mileage is likely better than the V6 but (and this is the downside) if you have a lead foot you will get V6-like fuel mileage. The 8 speed shifts like silk and the AT pairing with the torquey little boosted 4 cylinder means that you're always in the right gear. We're very happy with ours. Audi publishes a 5.8 second 0-100 km/h time for the 4 cylinder so probably (as is often the case with Audi) the 248 BHP is under-rated. Can't sell the V6 if you rate your I4 at ~300 BHP LOL.

    2. Audis sound system requires manual configuration of the bass and trebble; once u personalise that, its amazing
    3. Audi brand is more sophisticated than an acura; miles ahead
    4. The interior is like a pianno; very well done
    5. First thing that u do in the audi is to cancel the press and hold feature of the infotainment; it works like a smartphone thereafter! Zero fingerprint issue in my 2022 q7

    I recently bought a 2021 Audi Q7 45 Premium CPO / 22k miles, & here in Los Angeles with the high gas prices the 4-cylinder its more than enough to get around with all the heavy traffic. I’m light on my feet on highways, I’ve gotten to 26.5 Mpg so far and city I’ve gotten 17 though. I have young kids under 10 so the seats are fine for them. Haven’t taken the Q to the mountains/snow but will do so very soon. I went with Audi because of the luxury look it has, needed a great AWD system, & idk just wanted that Audi badge.

    Great video, as always!
    To the viewers: It should be noted that the Q7 also offers a 55 TFSI model with a 3.0L V6 (335 HP) AND the SQ7 offers a V8 (500 HP). Both outmatch the MDX by leaps and bounds. Most buy the 55 TFSI model with the V6. Shame on Acura for showcasing the Q7 with the cheapest trim level and the weakest engine! I recently picked up my new 2021 Q7 Prestige, and I am extremely happy with it. At this point, the MDX has nothing on the Q7, as the popular Prestige is the highest trim level Audi offers. A Prestige Q7 adds extra sound insulation (when compared to this Premium) - making the cabin EXTREMELY quiet - MUCH quieter than the MDX's cabin. The Prestige also bundles in adaptive air suspension, making for an exceptionally smooth ride. The MDX's ride quality is fine, but falls short when compared to the Q7. If you swing for the Luxury Package, you get extended, upgraded leather - as well as massaging seats. I will concede that the Bang and Olufsen Premium 3D Sound System is somewhat of a disappointment. Volvo's Bowers and Wilkins and Acura's ELS systems are noticeably better. As of 2021, Audi stopped offering their Bang and Olufsen Advanced 3D Sound System for the Q7 in North America (though it is still an option on the SQ7). That would have been one of the best systems out there - but I am not saying the Premium 3D system is terrible (just like the 2.0L 4-cylinder, slightly underpowered). The MDX is a great car (and possibly the leader in the $60K segment), but fully optioned, it only competes with miserably optioned, base trimmed, 4-cylinder Q7s (like the one Acura displayed). Acura still cannot match the material quality and the smooth, quiet ride of well-optioned Q7s. How can you compete with the car that underpins the Audi RSQ8, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Lamborghini Urus, and Bentley Bentayga? Sorry Acura!
    Additional info (comes from experience): The dual touchscreens present a slight learning curve, but are actually very easy to use once you get used to it. Also, the gloss black looks very sleek and nice. They may scratch slightly easier than other alternatives; but as long as you don't act like a slob, you will be fine. The Audi gloss black just seems a bit stronger and more smudge-resistant than the gloss black on other cars. NO ISSUE THERE. Apologies to all those protesting against the gloss black!

      The smarter buyer knows which to choose. There's a reason the MDX sold 48k units in 2020, the X5 50k units, and the GLE 48k units, while Audi scrapes the bottom with only 25k units sold.

    Is Acura that classless? Pretty sleezy to bring the 4 cylinder when they have a 6-cylinder turbo that would be the appropriate comparison

    sneaky move by Acura to pair its new flagship model to a 2.0L base model. This is not a fair comparison! I enjoy your videos a lot so please try a 3.0L later

    Good information but I gotta disagree on looks - the RDX and MDX are FUGLY, especially the dash. Seriously looking at the Q7 and your insights are helpful.

  • @stevenschroeder8306
    @stevenschroeder8306 Před 3 lety +13

    I mean it’s kind of an unfair comparison between this and the MDX because Acura didn’t offer the V6 version of the Q7 for the launch event. If Acura did that, I think the Audi would pull ahead.

    Not sure I really understand your stereo rating. You rated Acura well at an A, but you have also put Audi's premium audio system at a "High A Tier". So how does this not "hold a candle" to Acura's when they are both strong A's?

    I don't think a turbocharged 2-liter is adequate for a car this heavy, would definitely get the V6.

    Acura inviting people to drive a competitor car which is probably better in every way is hilarious to me. But I guess they really tried hard make the competition look bad by supplying a car with the basic engine and the most bare interior trim that nobody actually orders. As I always say, if you wanna see the advantage of German cars over everyone else, the only place to see it is on the autobahn where you can sit comfortably at very high speeds and really see how the cars feel when pushed to the extreme. That's where you realize all these Lexus, Acura, Infinity, Genesis, etc. cars are a generation or two behind Audi, BMW or Mercedes in terms of refinement, smoothness, stability and feeling of solidity at high speeds, etc.
