    Hi dr. Prasad! My name is Z, an asian with keloid-prone skin. Most of the scars on my body grow into keloid. And I’m planning to have a non-surgical eyelid procedure on my current monolids (it makes me looks tired and drowsy all the time, that’s why I have been putting a lot of thoughts on doing upper eyelid correction). Will it be safer to undergo this non-surgical procedure than the surgical blepharoplasty? Will the piercing and stitches cause keloid too? Looking forward to your reply. Thank you so much, doc 🙏🏻

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hi @Ztsy9602,
      The non-incisional approach to double eyelid surgery is only appropriate for younger people with no extra eyelid skin, and fat behind the eyelid preventing the establishment of a defined crease. The non-incisional approach is still surgery. Eyelid surgery can be done in darker ethnic skin types prone to keloid scarring by a surgeon (like myself) experienced with these skin types. You can refer to this video about it - czcams.com/video/ZNkvC941ng4/video.html

      Hi mike byrd,
      I generally advise upper eyelid surgery over brow lifting because the results generally look more natural, but sometimes a brow procedure is needed if it has descended and puts weight on the eyelids. Hi Adnan A,
      If the procedure is done well, then there should be no obvious scarring. In a well done upper blepharoplasty, the incision line visible when you close your eyes should be indistinguishable by the natural crease that forms where the eyelid skin folds from blinking or closing your eyes. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Před 5 lety

      Hi,
      Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects, but these effects can also decrease with time even if you use it daily. I do think finasteride is more beneficial than minoxidil as it can slow down and stabilize hair thinning, and it can be used long-term more predictably. If you want to thicken thinning hair, and stimulate hair growth from dormant follicles, look into the Hair Regeneration treatment featured in my videos. You can watch this video about male pattern hair loss treatment for someone your age - czcams.com/video/fLSB-tE0gco/video.html

On my receding sides I can see hair but it’s very small will using minoxidil help grow them hairs so they look abit thicker and if I use it on the top of my scalp will it help to make that part more dense.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD

      Hi m g,Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects, but these effects can also decrease with time even if you use it daily. If you suspect you have male pattern hair loss, it's important to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis, and confirmation. If you have it this early, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride, which does require a doctor's prescription. Finasteride treats the main cause of male pattern hair loss more directly, and can be used long-term. If you want to thicken thinning hair and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, look into the Hair Regeneration treatment featured in my videos. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Amiya Prasad, M.D. thanks for the reply doctor but at this early stage of 17 I don’t want to use finasteride it dutasteride due to the hormonal side effects. • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Před 5 lety

      Hi@@mg-zp3gr,
      The chances of side effects with fiansteride is only 2%, so it's very rare. You need to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis. If pattern hair loss is confirmed, and you refuse a proven DHT-blocker like finasteride, then you will lose hair very quickly, even if you try other treatments. I hope this helps you.
