this was a great video, you took us through the whole journey, you can imagine some people to edit all the fault finding and make out they know everything from the start. 10/10 for a great you tube video. fair play to you . and thank you
Thanks mate! đ I'm happy to let other people learn from (or laugh at! đ) my mistakes.
It does entertain me watching your vids, but to be honest like you say your learning , I didnât realise me100 would run vvt mind so guess we are both learning
Iâm about to order AT power ITB and ME221 ECU and wiring for my st170 escort , I do hope itâs easyer a job than yours
Lovely to see Cat smiling đ
Massive fair play for not giving up! đ bring on the dyno lmao đ
Thanks mate! đ I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet! đ
good to see a person not giving up and loosing his cool it takes a lot of trial and error when you don't have something to show you what you are doing wrong
Well done mate đ
Thanks mate! đ
Great video, best you've done for me, very informative and great perseverance đđ»
Well done Marcus glad you got it sorted your certainly commited you will be an expert soon & have your own tuning shop
Good on m8 Glad to see going forward for you đ
Wow what a journey you're on with these Carbs...but fair play buddy you've got there and I'm sooo looking forward to the dyno session đđđ
I love your attitude with your fords. Don't give up. Keep at it again and again and you fix it good man
Well done Marcus, hanging in there pays off and it's fun trying to fault find. Very rewarding when it's sorted
Yay well done mate for chipping away at it anf getting a result canât wait for the Dyno canât wait to see it at its full potential đđœđđœđđœđđđđ
Great video mate, enjoyed watching that one, good detective work and a great result.
Perseverance is the best tool you can have in your kit when working with carbs, haha. Top notch!
FairPlay mate never give up there is always away just got to find it canât wait to see what happens on the rollers see the difference between the two set ups đ
Cracking Marcus. I think allot of us can relate to the elation of fixing a problem and the frustration of it being so bloody simple.
Brilliant Marcus ⊠keep at it mate ,youâll crack it
đ€đ„đ€
lots of great info, Thanks for sharing :)
Good work Marcus đ got there in the end..đ
Thanks mate! đ
Interesting video, donât have a clue about bike carbs but learnt abit here. Interesting to see what itâll make on the dyno
Really enjoyable vid. Bravo Markus.
Great job Marcus đđ
Hey M, i would of given up long time and slapped on sides, but well done on the perfectly executed diagnostics. Admittingly there is nothing more satisfying than solving a problem and learning along the way. Top man.đ
Perseverance got you there, good on you for sharing the lows and the highs of the troubleshooting
Thanks for watching mate! đ Im happy to show the whole story and all my fails! đ
Another excellent video it's great how you took us through the whole journey đ
Thanks mate! đ
Keep going pal, your getting there đ
đ
Love the Enthusiasm mate.
There has to be Negative people in the car world. It's what keeps the Positive people Going.
Keep up the good work.
Well done Marcus đđ You are 100% right that you can only learn by experience. You have more patience than me đđ
Top jobs Mate, well done
Good watch. Had bike carbs on my 1.8 zetec mk1. Worked very well, but now upgraded to jenvey tb's đ
Well done as always good vid đ
Great video glad you persevered
Thanks mate! đ
Hi Marcus great video mate well done to you good luck with it
Mate, your perseverance is admirable! So good t9 see you smiling after the fueling troubles. Canât wait for the Dino session to see what Maude can do. đ
Roll on the 6th January mate! đ Fingers crossed for a good result! đ€
Brilliant job love the work.
Thanks mate! đ
well done great stuff
Thanks mate! đ
Plastic Bracket (Cable Tie) Love it đ„°đ€Łđ€Ł,
Perseverance (yes I googled the spelling !!!) well done Marcus you always get things sorted đđ»đđ»đ
Well done Marcus on the bike carbs, I am currently putting the same set up in my mk1 fiesta let's hope I don't get the same issues as you had. đđ
Great news mate! Always something to catch us out eh!
Especially amateurs like me mate! đ
Great video Marcus really enjoyed it. đ
Thanks mate! đ
Well done fella đđ
Thanks mate! đ
Great job m8 and can only wait to see Maude Dino figure ..đ
Great video as always Marcus
Thanks mate! đ
Best channel going man
Glad you enjoy the videos mate! đ
Happy days mate glad you figured it out, if your not making mistakes your not learning đ
I make a LOT or mistakes!! đ But I learn a lot too! đ
Good work Marcus. I had the same issue with bike carbs on my xflow but I didnât have the persistence you have and swapped to Dellortos and now on Jenveys.
gr8 work marcus your getting there mate
One step at a time mate! đ Good job I had time to kill before the dyno! đ
Well done for sticking at that mate, the sense of satisfaction is amazing when you finally sort the fault rather than handed it over to someone else to fix it for you. Top marks matey đđ
Thanks mate! đ . . . . My new project will be getting a headlining early next year which I'm HOPING to 'hand over' to 'someone else'. . . . . Because I know how much you 'enjoyed' doing that Capri one! đ đ đ
@@marcushayesford lol done the Capri and the blue Rs2000 headliner now. Let me know mate and we can do it together if you wantđ€·ââïžđ
Patients is the name of the game bud đ
Enjoyed that fella. Proper interesting. Looking forward to seeing more of Mavis the Moredoor being built up too.
Glad you enjoyed the video mate! đ 'Mavis'??? I like that! đ
Boy have you got some patience Marcus. Getting there slowly though. Well done !
Thanks mate! đ I had time to kill anyway. Glad I persevered and got her running better.
Slide speed is another massive tuning factor on CVs too, even when just removing airboxes on bikes. The pump should stop when pressure is built. Another thing to think about is fuel foaming in the float bowls. Thry are normally supported with the airbox on a bike but they're flapping around on the inlet rubbers on your install. Why no O2 sensor? Would make your life much easier! It's hard to tell with fuelling sometimes.
Cool đđœđ yeah just need to sort out , and it will be great I think đ€đŒ
I'll just take my hat off, well doneđđđžđŻ
Thanks mate! đ
As a quick set up on bikes we used to take the carb size eg.38mm then times it by 5 and use that as a quick set up for jet size. 38 x 5 = 190 example. And it will always be a little on the rich side to keep it safe. Used to work a treat . Good luck
Thanks for the advice mate! đ I reckon my setup will need a 170 but we'll see. đ
Well done Marcus, good on you for persisting and Educating yourself on bike carbs, yes a lot of people would have given up. đđ
I think that MOST of the negativity out there about bike carbs is because people arn't willing to be patient and learn. Hopefully 'Maude' will get a good result on the dyno. đ
@@marcushayesford Thanks from Australia, I look forward to your vids every week keep up the great work !
Love the content mate inspired me to eventually do a zetec in my Mk2 fiesta van
Glad you enjoy the videos mate! đ A Zetec Mk2 Fez van would be AWESOME! đ
Well done for not giving up. I would also upgrade the fuel pump to a better one
Great video Marcus nice to see you are getting there with the mk2 when them carbs are set right she will fly mate
Thanks mate! đ Roll on 6th January! JUDGEMENT DAY! đ
@@marcushayesford I'm looking forward to seeing what the old girl kicks out mate hopefully you will be able to get a decent run on her an get a really good tune

Hey man it's good to see that your sorting that part yourself its really difficult without a rolling road fair play though thanks for sharing đ

Good video Marcus đđđ»
Thanks mate! đ
winner, well done sir, bet your brain needs cooling off after all that, great that you gained all the experience, cant beat it !!!
Can't wait for the dyno session. It'll be like a movie script. Lol.
Top video got a st170 with zx10r carbs it needs tweaking as itâs running rich, will get it on a rolling road next year ..
these seem to be cbr 600 carbs if not exactly the same look, i have them installed on my 87' lada 2105 , i put them on, adjusted them, gave the distributor proper advance lines, and advanced it a little bit and they worked flawlessly !! timing is key tho
Sweet results Marcus /Catđ±
đ
Never had much luck with dyno jet kits seem to have to much of a step in the needles standard needed seem better great video đ
marcus this is one of your best videos mate
proper interesting and glad you have got a bit of a result
you ever thought the car is suffering from fuel starvation ie need a big flow of petrol?
Thanks mate! đ There were times where I suspected fuel starvation but since I moved the pump under the car that side of things seems sweet.
You have the patience of a saint well done for sticking with it i would have launched them long ago..very interesting video you must have put a load of man hours into it mind and look after yourself relax and enjoy the holidays mind some time out to rechargeâŠ.đŽó §ó ąó łó Łó Žó żđđ©
raising the needles richens the mixture
Yeh I should have re-read the message from Jonathan BEFORE trying the adjust them! đ
We can tell you are 100% committed in sorting this engine and tune sorted out.
Seen Pinky is also coming on well with the mk1. Great work upto now.
Hope I got his name right đ
I dont give up easily mate! đ . . . .Esther is in good hands! His name is Gavin Pink but he did design his own sanding blocks called 'Pinky's Blox'. đ
I'm following his CZcams channel and the recent removal of the rear quarter panel.
Sad too see but we know she's in good hands. đ đŻ
Well done,i,m going for a lie down now.
Thanks.
Thanks for watching mate! đ . . . . goodnight! đ
Glad you got it all sorted I bet you where starting to give up đ
If I'm going to quit it will be after the dyno mate! đ
Putting carbs on a bigger engine than they are jetted for usually results in lower pressure in the venturi and therefore high fuel delivery rates, it is quite normal to have to jet a bike down after fitting a big bore kit. I have no doubt these carbs will make good power with flawless delivery once dialed in. When you have learnt which to adjust them LoL!
Also they dont like running without an air box because the air correction jets controlling the air flow into the diffuser tube will be seeing atmospheric pressure all the time instead of the reduced pressure that occurs in an air box when power is demanded.
This, gotta tune the airbox inlet size and internal volume to provide the environment they were designed to work in.
Now that your a tuner, Marcus đ, it might be worth investing in an afr gauge. Good safety investment. If you get a spare few O2 sensors and bungs, you can fit those to your other cars and just swap the gauge between them while tuning, as the gauge itself is the biggest expense.
Good work bro.
Love the never give up attitude
I should defo get an AFR gauge!! đ . . . . . or just stop trying to be a tuner! đ
Why not get webers with fuel injection at Northampton Motorsport.
No Air Filters?
You may lose hp quickly if running in dusty conditions.
K&N air filter or similar won't hurt engine output.....
I like that short film boy buys xl gets it stolen ends up with rm đ
Proper decent film! đ
@@marcushayesford Iâve seen it a few time good music, awesome subject, reminds me a bit of this is England ! Good vehicles đjust wish it was longer .
I wouldnât even bother with tuning on a dyno . Just get a wideband , itâs a great investment.
Have you not considered buying a wideband gauge really useful for fault finding with issues like you have been having
I have an aem wideband in my mk1, makes life a lot easier diagnose rich or lean conditions.
I should defo invest in one of them. I always thought they were a waste of time with an N/A setup but it would defo help in situation like this. đ
@@marcushayesford knowing your afr can only be a good thing, turbo or not đ
Love what your doing Iâm building a st170 turbo for my connect van donât suppose you have a blacktop solid flywheel I can do a bank transfer
Glad you like the videos mate! đ I DID have one spare 1800 flywheel re-drilled for a Pinto clutch BUT I gave it to my good friend Rob. đ
Hello love your videos.just a quick question I currently have a pinto engine head has been modified will the bike carbs be a good if so what jets do it need or is dcoe better?
Missed a few vids, what's the reason for bike carbs? whenever I think mk2 escort I think delortos or webbers with their big throttle bodies getting loads of air in
Carbs respond to signal, I wonder if the lack of airbox is diminishing the signal to the carb?
Into the groove (Madonna) đ€Ł
đ
Been watching your channel learn alot good content
Maybe you can help me looking for mk2 escort column storks and wiring connectors to same
Alb John
Glad you enjoy the videos mate! đ Im pretty sure there are brand new aftermarket stalks available nowadays for Mk2. I would say try Burton Power, Motorsport Tools and Car Builders Solutions. đ
Hi Marcus when you where taking out the car needles you said the had a diaphragm on the back I noticed that around 9 minutes mark when you where looking at the needle I thought I seen some light through where the diaphragm fits if that isnât sealed properly it would be drawing in to much air I apologise in advance if I am mistaken
I can defo see what you mean in the footage mate! đ Im HOPING its just an illusion with the light but I'll defo double check all the diaphragms before I go on the dyno. Thanks for pointing it out. đ
No problem Marcus as I said it was just an observation and hope that when it goes to Dyno it will be sorted and running like a dream
Goodman Marcus go on my son
Lik the MH shadows i was the 1st to do
I remember mate! đ AWESOME idea! đ
Gd vid mate yeah just chipping away and getting advice where needed is the best itâs a learning process carbs can b a bit of s black art so gd going
Brilliant vid. As for the dodgy Japanese screws you need some JIS! Get a set of âJapanese industrial standardâ screwdrivers it makes a world of difference and if your scratching your head as to what the f*#k am I talking about have a quick Google mate. Trust me on this one, you canât beat screwing with some JISđ
Thanks for the advice! đ Defo need to get some of those screw drivers! đ

Hi Marcus
Are you still running the ME100 on Maude with bike carbs?
Yes mate! đ
Marcus, sent you a chat on Messenger.
Can you take a look as I want you to check something on those Carbs before you keep increasing your mains.
All trial and error Marcus
Mostly error!! haha! đ
At least you are getting on top of things Marcus
Why isnât there any Roger merch
Because he's rubbish!! . . . . . dont tell Cat! đ
I was just wondering if its because the air filter is missing as both my bikes don't run well with the air filter off??
I'm thinking the same thing as the sliders lift wide open it will run too lean
Air filters are for wimps!!! đ . . . . . But I should defo get some! đ
Marcus, love your channel, down to earth in these mental times. None of my business buy you got any plans to make your beautiful girlfriend Cat your beautiful wife? :-)
hello, i really donât understand why you spent money in a good ecu and not in a good AFR gauge + wideband sensor like innovate or AEM ?
you act like a blind in the dark for your carb setupâŠi know gunson spark itâs a good ish help for idle but not for a complete setup !
anyway, good chance for your project ! Yann from FranceâŠ
Youâr right I a wideband would be helpful BUT whenever I put a new (or used) engine in my car I take it straight to the dyno to have it professionally tuned anyway. All I was trying to do in this video is make sure that it actually pulls all the way through the rev range. My tuner is very busy so I had time to kill, so anything I can figure out before I get to the dyno will save me money at the dyno. đ
Should just tune it yourself it's not that difficult just takes time
not seeing you on odysee? , youtube is dead
100% actually get a notification for a new video over there. Don't ditch CZcams mirror the vids there too. BTW way I have zero interest in cars, but love your perseverance. Always a good watch.
