- Gears of War 4 is more of the same but that's not a bad thing. The campaign is fun to get through with a decent story and characters while Horde 3.0 offers some excellent action with friends. However, it's all a bit too familiar at this point and we expect a bit more.
What does a 7/10 score mean?
7: GOOD
Exactly as the subtitle says, this is a good game. Everything that this game was trying to do, it does it well. There are obvious ways that this game can be improved that we can think of, but apart from that, this is a game you can recommend to most players.

That is a pretty weird comparison. We did not compared Gears of War 4 to No Man's Sky while reviewing the game. Both are different games, different genre etc. Your question about why a particular game got a higher score than another does not makes sense. Thanks for watching the video :)
GamingBolt well it's not about them being 2 different games it's about a crappy game getting a better score than a good one. The review doesn't bother me per say because I always liked Gears and to me it's a 10 of out 10 and I understand a review it's based on the reviewer opinion but I can understand where he's coming from.

people dont understand what is the meaning of "opinion", for me is a 10/10 game, because im a gears fan and i love that they've' brough back the old pre judgement mechanics, and improved upon it...
This game deserves a better score. You guys really suck at reviews. This game deserves the minimal of a 9.0 How in the world you give the abomination of no man sky a higher score and this masterpiece a low score must have a bunch of brain dead retards working at gaming bolt and game spot. You give No Man's Sky get's an 8 calling it "the game that defines the era." Gears of War 4 get a 7. Seems pretty legit.

poor review, you really expected a beloved franchise to be completely redefined in its first title under a brand new development team? that is very naive in my opinion, its fair to expect that from Gears of War 5 but its perfectly understandable that Gears of War 4 would play it safe and try to reintroduce itself to fans by being similar to previous titles. Look at Star Wars episode 7, it's almost the exact same as episode 4 but it was still a great movie

Great campaign review,whens the MP review?
I felt like crying when I spent my hard earned money on the game, downloaded it and found out that you need Xbox live gold and there was no offline capability. to me there is so much history with this series. Nothing made life any better than bringing friends over and getting into chainsaw fights and holding off waves of enemies, there's just something about being in human contact and seeing reactions of losing or winning a game. And it makes me sad when you get a new game and find out that your friends can't play because the game company wants you to stay online away from real social contact.. All I want is for horde and versus mode to be offline enabled again, and bring back 4 player and they need to tone down the microtransactions.

I wish there was a DLC or a separate game where you for once play as Locust and an option to understand (not sympathize) with their motivation.
Am I the only one who was triggered by the aim of the person playing and them not taking the active reloads ?

i cant thank the coalition enough for keeping the core mechanics that we love...and this isnt a disadvantage for the game...the fans asked for it, they got it...

I'm only complaint is that they kept the swarm way too similar to the locust however everything else looks great in the game and like you said they gave us what we wanted a gears game

I generally like gaming bolts reviews due to the high level of information given but damn....really need to get the scoring system revamped. It just makes no sense and provides only confusion to consumers who are trying to buy one game over another regardless of genre. Maybe replace the scoring system with something closer to ACG's buy, wait for a sale, or rent system, and provide numerical values to core components of the game such as graphics, story, etc.

Being "a bit too familiar" didn't stop this game from currently having an 85 metacritic score. What's the metacritic score for No Man's Sky, a game GamingBolt gave a generous 8/10 to? 60. Yup. Gears 4 is a visually stunning and proper continuation of the series, along with being "a bit too familiar".
Gotta adjust that No Man's Sky 8/10 Score if this gets a 7/10. No Man's Sky is a textbook example of a game being falsely marketed by it's creator as something it's not(Sean Murray staight-up lied about the game on multiple occasions), and it shouldn't be rewarded with a great score because of it by anyone. It also ran like garbage out of the gate and crashes were common.
The thing that the makers of Gears could do to spice things up abit is to add more melee combat to the series. I like this game but it's just the exact same game as the first nothing new to the gameplay that stands out. One more thing I think they could do is make the cover system a little better, playing this game and Mafia 3 I'm loving Mafia 3's cover system.
It's time to add Kill/Score Streaks! Tho I'm not complaining cause I love the franchise. I'd say after 5--7-10 kills there should be an array of giant drones and weapons the cog team should be able to call on! and an array of bots and locust that the swarm should be able to call on! That'll make the game new and sick! Kill streak weapons too of course!
I legit thought they killed off Marcus when it paused and everyone thought it was too late when they saved him. I was about to be the most pissed off person in the planet but thank God they didn't do that lol. I love this series still
ok so 10 things (WITH SPOILERS)
1-Gears 4 is pretty cool, good mechanics, decent intro and likable characters
2-One of the things i didnt like was the lack of creativity with the monsters, its literally fight the same monsters past gears: juvi = wretches/ swarmak = brumak/ drones = drones/ the only thing really new is the bull dog swarm and the robots
3- they get huge credit for bringing ''the band'' back together at the end
4- The ending was cheesy BECAUSE you cant bring in a emotional attachment to people we dont know or give a fuck about, (SPOILER)killing the main chicks mom had me like ehh because idk these people
5-They had me at one point when i thought marcus was dead. I was actually pissed off because if he did die in that pod when they found him that would have been the lamest way to kill a GREAT character
6-The main chicks uncle was annoying, usually humor is welcomed in this game but to me they need to tone that shit down next game. What makes gears of war special is the Dread and depression of a horrible situation. Thats why the humor was welcomed because 80% of the game is horror/depression
7-Cool level designs, but it sorta gave me a gears judgement vibe with all the door opening
8-I can sorta see where they are going with the next game: the robots maybe allies to start a war, and give the game a war vibe,BUT with this new system the game play needs to change alittle, honest this game felt the same as the others, in a good way sometimes and sometimes in a bad way
9-The only real issue i have is will they continue to be lazy with the monster design? Meaning will we continue to fight enhanced locust or will we get new creatures?
10- THAT ENDING WAS REALLY WELL PLAYED. Now they have me with more questions tacked onto the other questions i had from the other gears: Who the fuck was the locust queen? Why was she human? Is what happen in gears 4, the reason why Myrah the locust queen? IS the new main chick destined to be the main villain? Why did the swarm main bad guy speak a sentence?! What the hell is going on? Where did the locust come from? What happen to the siers?
OVERALL SCORE: 3/5 But since the ending has me hooked 4.5/5
My biggest problem with this is how much it sounds like a book report. Put some personality into your review rather than just read the essay review of the game

it does indeed have 2 player local co-op... what he was saying is the game's campaign is locked at 30 fps even if you're solo (unlike, say Borderlands Handsome Collection which is 60 fps natively and then locks at 30 if you play couch co-op)

I believe most of these reviews are all about control, to control what you are playing. I notice whenever games like, COD, and BF come out other games get weaker scores then them. BF have had the worst campaign ever and scored high, and then there are games with out campaign at all, shit, I don't know, but stop trusting these dam reviews, and do your own research. We have CZcams, we can easily go and review the game ourselves.

This is a very boring game. I’d give it a 6. It’s so goddamn repetitive. And the dialogue... Jesus Christ. Gears is dead to me. We’ll see how 5 fairs but eh, not so enthusiastic.
Another annoying thing is the cheesy cliches present in this game. A comic relief black guy, and an unrealistic "tough chick" character. Ugh and stupid blue LEDs
This reviewer doesn't seem like he knows jack shit about gears of war. Also, when he called the cover based mechanics "slow" compared to other third person shooters.... You lost me man. And they didn't even mention versus multiplayer. That's the meat and potatoes of gears to many longtime fans, myself included. Thumbs down. Not impressed with this video or channel.
Gears of war 4 online sucks, inconsistent game play, horrible matchmaking etc. They just did an update where they didnt fix any of the bullshit in the game, but made it so you cant leave in the middle of a game, you know, the same horrible match they put you in, they made it so you cant leave LOL
As far as the rest of the game, it is definitely good, but realistically speaking, you are going to be playing online more often than campaign mode etc., and that's where the bulk of your opinion of the game will come from.
