It is underpowered, its pretty obvious that exclusives like Uncharted or GoW will play like a dream on consoles but just imagine how they would look if consoles had better hardware

What exactly is your solution? Realistically MS cannot release new hardware every year while maintaining relations with devs and consumers.
I like how gamespot gave the game a lower score because of performance issues. Even when digital foundry completely praises the technical performance of the game
I'm genuinely wondering if there's something wrong with certain Xbox consoles. I captured the first four acts of the game (80% of the game) on normal difficulty and ran through the analysis tool. It was completely stable throughout. I have genuine proof, so it's clearly possible to run completely smoothly, but I know some other users have run into performance problems at certain points. I was never able to reproduce it and I've now played through most of the game twice on Xbox One. It's a very curious thing.
A Frying Pan the performance issues are mainly multiplayer tbh
My xbone has been running pretty badly since the windows update, I get randomly signed out or sent to the dashboard and have to sign in 3 times sometimes, due to random error messages. Lastly I cant enter the store for the life of me (also due to error messages) I remember Snoop Dog being in the news bitching about Xbox live about the same time my problems started, so I know its not just me.
Even if this game is cracked and served to me for free, I'd choose to buy it merely for the amount of love and care the devs showed for the pc community.

And the particles update at 30fps, remember Bioshock 30fps physics? That kind of thing belongs in the previous decade.

I'm in total disbelief. Gears of War 4 is giving me 120+ FPS at 2K Ultra with my GTX 1080 while playing 5 person Horde mode. 120+ FPS in a game that looks this good is impossible. How did they get a Windows Store game running so insanely smooth and why didn't they do this with the other games.

This game is GAME OF THE YEAR imo. Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 have been back to back home runs.
I think Gears of War 4 because of multi-player and game play is incredible than Forza Horizon 3 but both game is so awesome.

Payed 100$ to play 8 hours early. I'm in Act 3 on solo insane blind play through and holy shit it's the best Gears so far. Fun multiplayer, horde, story.

This is how Sony/MS and their $300 consoles make revenue. Not from hardware sales, but from selling completely overpriced games. and of course the online fee. 3 of those $100 "ultimate edition" games, and you payed as much money for games as for the hardware. It's ridiculous.

the only thing reason I prefer console to have the disc but over all I play every thing but I lean toward console I own them all PlayStation Xbox and even Wii u and I have a pretty decent PC but I hate how there's bearly anything physical

The Coalition has jumped up in ranks with this one. Digital Foundry is baffled on how good this came out to be for the Xbox One and PC. Digital Foundry is rarely impressed on the its technical analysis but they have now at least three videos on this game alone. I will be downloading tonight to Xbox and thank gawd that I can switch over to my PC if need the extra umfff.

BTW The Coalition is a microsoft owned studio in the same way that Naughty Dog is by sony. Essentially, both are not much more than external departments of their parent companies.

HellFire in the same way we could look at how well Recore looks and runs even though for some reason Unity was chosen for the engine. Compare it to virtually every other Unity based game out there and it blows them out of the water. Even graphically simplistic titles like Firewatch run like crap on it, but Recore (by Concept and Armature) knocks it out of the park. Unless you're told it's Unity you'd never know.

I play this on a 65 inch 4k t.v. that has 10 bit HDR,the game fully supports it,colors pop out more,lighting looks great and everything looks smoother and more crisp,if you can't tell the difference between 8 bit hdr and 10 bit hdr then you need glasses,on top of that the xbox one s up scales every xbox one game just like the ps4 does,the consoles do a better up scaling job than the t.v. it self does,its a joint effort,there is a huge night and day difference. If you don't believe me,look up tech videos on how its done.
Its pretty impressive this is made in a 3rd-party engine. Looks almost like its made in an in-house engine.
I wish you guys would do a video for noobs just explaining what all these technical terms mean. For example volumetric light scattering. I have an approx idea obviously but I would love a proper break down of all the terms. Great video though!

Console performance doesn't seem that bad, to be honest - it just suffers from the worst frame pacing this side of Bloodborne so it looks way choppier than it should be.

Destiny did have that budget, (GTA 5 also had such a budget) but you have to remember those games are lot larger in scale, and you do have to spend just as much time texturing the entire world, as Gears does its linear campaign and maps. (im not hating on Gears its my favorite shooter, im just saying) Meaning you get a lot worse graphics because the "budget on texturing wasnt as condensed" if that makes any sense.

Xbox One's Highlight of 2016. Holy shit we thought Quantum Break would be in that position. Oh how the mighty fall. QB is still fantastic though and (forgive me god) it has the best graphics on any platform this year. Still, gears of war 4 is damn good.

Even with MIcrosoft STORE issues/headaches its great that this and FH3 have been available on PC, do look forward to the cross play on this fully working with XB1 consoles which is just another bonus for Xbox compared to Sony PS4. Sony may have their PRO console coming but right now fans of Xbox/Microsoft just got two major franchises appearing on PC where they can already be enjoyed beyond what the Scorpio will offer in the next year. This is one thing Sony cant compete with.

No reason to by an XB1 *IF you already have a gaming PC. Even a lower mid range one. I recently sold my XB1 because I have no reason to keep it when I can play all it's games on my PC and have a better experience. I'm still keeping my PS4 because I'm interested in it's exclusives and having a PS4 is the only way to play those games.

jugulator95 wish they simply had a longer campaign that actually answered questions from halo 4 and made sense (and of course splitscreen and lack of modes that should have come at launch) only improvement I would acknowledge would be multiplayer, which I have admittedly enjoyed the most in halo 5 out of all of them.

As a PS4 owner I have to say I am very impressed.
This game is amazing. I played a lot of Horde mode and the fact that there's cross play for this mode and campaign is what makes me love my Xbox/PC more than my rarely played PS4.

Its something any on-line vid simply can't get across.
There is a difference that is immediately noticeable when you turn it off, sort of in the same way as when you turn off the surround audio channels in your home theater. With a good setup you shouldn't really be aware of the surround speaker's presence, but turn them off and its IMMEDIATELY noticeable in a bad way.
PCs with appropriate video cards and capable screen can do HDR, but its not really done much yet as its much harder for a development team to do over the wide range of hardware combinations on PC rather than the set target of console.
Its very impresive infact this hame is the reason i just bought my battlefield 1 xb1 s its military green and im loving it.
As someone who uses Unreal engine, its really awesome seeing a team like Coalition making magic with it. Really shows what the engine is capable of.

Great video guys! Beat campaign lastnite on PC. rig is equipped with a I7 4790K paired with an XFX R9 fury X, and 16 gigs ram. I did notice however in the video, the benchmark of the 980Ti, that the Vsync was on. I was hoping the next benchmark, it would be off. just wanted to see how it faired against my Fury X. Thanks again.

This PC port is extremely well done, huge kudos to MS and Coalition. Now we just need MS to add it on Steam for the huge player base. Granted I will buy it on UWP and maybe more will be tempted to follow suit with this title. I am just scared the PC audience could die out a little fast. I guess we will have to wait and see.
With this and Forza H3 both being ported pretty well maybe more will give UWP a chance. Knowing the PC community stubbornness though, doesn't seem likely. Excited to see the dedication Microsoft will be showing to the PC community regardless. I hope to see Crackdown 3 running as well as Gears 4 if it releases to PC.

How is this being compared to Uncharted 4? Despite both being third-person cover shooters, theyre completely different games. UC is about a dude who loves adventure and treasure, GOW is about a dude trying to save humanity from aliens. Everything about these games are different, their characters, setting, story, even though theyre both TPCS their gameplays feel extremely different. Makes more sense to compare UC to Tomb Raider and GOW to idk anything but UC lol.

I'm always impressed with developers when they work within the constraints of a console and still come up with something that looks mindblowing with almost no tradeoff. Reminds me also of Halo 4. I still don't know how 343 got it to look THAT good on the 360.
Would have liked to see a demonstration showing the antialiasing, but otherwise another great analysis video. It's hard to tell which is PC and Xbox. Devs did a fantastic job on the tech.

I'm just shocked at how luscious Gears of War 4 looked, as I was used to the monochromatic, desaturated look the franchise is dubiously known for. So much color variety, and it's not just this game, it's seems more modern games are moving away from the desaturatated filter. Does this have to do with the rise of HDR?

Nope. Got worse for some in the recent patch. Turn out alot of Xbox One code was left over in the port. In other words....it will be a damn long time before it gets fixed if not ever.

The Xbox One has 8gb of unified memory with a portion of that reserved for system resources. The key here is that it is unified so there is no memory specifically designated as VRAM. The developers can use the memory as they see fit.

The GPU in XBONE is worse than 950, but in some games it can have better textures, if memory is used for graphics(VRAM), not gameplay(RAM)

There's a huge difference. Look at the textures, foliage, object count, ground clutter, shadows, ambient occlusion (although that's more subtle and easier to miss), and anti aliasing (again, probably harder to spot with lots of motion in the scene.) The easiest difference to see is the textures.
CZcams's lossy compression inherently normalizes image quality... I can't believe after all this time people are still going to youtube for "graphics comparisons" and wondering why they don't see a big difference.

I am enjoying the shooting mechanics a lot. kinda wished it wasnt to linear though. but im at act 3 so hopefully they open up more

Interactive movie? U4 has better gameplay overall, for instance, taking cover in Gears 4 is like playing with magnets
I wish gears would go back to its roots with the gothic dark setting from the first two games. Now the characters look cartoony. They are trying too hard to appeal to kids. Gears 3 reminded me of sunset overdrive with its colors. I want the old gears back ! Not this cheesy cartoony crap
I have played through the first Act and a little bit of the second so far on PC. With an i5 6600k @ 4.6GHz and a 1080. Almost a perfect locked 90 fps at 2560x1440 on Ultra so far. The game is not only looking great but plays great too.
And now we have it running on the series consoles what are you waiting for if you don't already own it, it now looks and runs how it was originally intended.
You guys just can't bring yourself to give any direct credit to anything on the xbox/windows platform can you.
Its NOT an 'unreal engine 4 masterpiece' its just a 'masterpiece'.
