Gears and Halo are the only series that Microsoft has that constantly deliver quality games. PlayStation has God of War, Last of Us, Uncharted and Spider-Man. At least Microsoft delivered with Gears of War this generation

I just find it funny that IGN gave the game an 8.8 when they also give small games with little to no replay value and low budget 8.8, like Blair Witch.
Sure, Blair Witch has its strengths, but I doubt anyone who plays both games would ever put more hours into Blair Witch than Gears.
Yeah, and the way they talked about it in his video showed that the gamed deserved a higher score, i don't know why the fuck they keep giving 8.8, it's like they don't even care about the score they give.
Games should be judged on themselves solely. Not how they compare to others out the of genre. Blair witch is a great game in its genre. As is Gears.
I beat Blair witch in like 4 hours then uninstalled it...ever since outlast was birthed nothing scares me anymore.

Comparing a triple A game like Gears 5 with an indie game that came out of nowhere like Blair Witch is quite unfair, you know. Based on what? The amount of hours took to complete it? That's quite ludicrous. If I follow your logic, then games like Call Of Duty would receive an incredibly high score because of it's multiplayer replayability while games like Limbo and Little Nightmares would receive a laughably low score because of it's short play time. I'm not saying Gears 5 is bad, in fact it is quite the opposite but the way you review it is simply wrong.
My two cents? I think that Blair Witch is a surprisingly decent horror game. Announced out of nowhere, I thought it would be an obvious cash-in on the movie but it turned out solid. The relationship that you build with your dog companion is unbelievably well-executed. Although the ending plot twist is quite predictable, the way that the game unraveled the protagonist's terrible past at the last hour is realistically horrifying.
Sure, IGN reviews is an absolute dung, but judging a game based on its replayability and budget while ignoring the story, characters, music, graphics, etc is quite idiotic.
TL;DR - Don't just judge a game based on the replayability and length.

Coming from a PS4 player, I’m looking forward to this a whole hell of a lot more than Death Stranding. Pre-ordered Gears 5 a while back to play on my nephew’s XBOne. Gears 4 was pretty damn good, too.

It's such a huge disappointment.
We've seen like an hour of gameplay, and the mechanics are bland. Especially the combat and vehicles.
The stealth seems on point, and the world looks beautiful... but it's always the same looking terrain.
I hope they diversify the landscape.
All in all, so far I'm disappointed to say the least.

This game doesn't feel as polished as other peoples say, it seems it was rush out because I have encountered many glitches

I am glad to see that other people love this game as much as I do. Game bolt was correct, gears 4 was conservative but still aight. Gears 5, I couldn't get enough of the campaign and was sad when i completed it. I need more story to play and soon.

One of the few reviews of this game that in my opinion is spot on. I'm a gears fan and this is one of the best gears games in many a year, way better than 4 and equally as good as any of the others.
I initially played this on Xbox one X on a 65 inch 4k tv and was quite happy with the graphics. Then I got a 49 inch Super Ultrawide monitor and put the game on my PC and holy moly, total game changer. The PC port of Gears 5 is how I wish every pc game will release in the future.

Just recently played through this entire series after finally getting the Series X. I only ever played the first two games in the series before then so I was excited. I just finished 4 and got 5 downloaded. Hope it’s good.

Just finished the game, still sinking in whats happened. One of the best gears loved the story and characters. Only thing i hated are the open map area levels mostly due driving from location to location it slowed the story down so much, never liked it in metro, uncharted 4, or god of war..really appreciated a game with online and a campaign that is not half assed.
It's really good but the actual campaign combat scenarios are seriously lacking. I'm almost done with Act 2 but there hasn't been 1 firefight that has really stood out. Even Gears 4 began with a BANG, really well designed opening missions.

This game is really good!!!! U shoot enemies less and the addition of instant kills from headshots with any qelcome was a great modern welcome. This game is excellent and may even the best one in the series but I'll hold my tongue on that until i actually finish the game.
The multiplayer is great as well but needs tweeking. I think the beta was better. Putting the chainsaw and reload on the same button was the worst thing ever

The ultimate edition of Gears 5 includes the entire series (minus Judgment), so this would be the perfect time to start.
i just completed Ac 1 and i'm so disappointed, i expected it to be an open game with more areas to investigate and side missions etc, but no it's still about following the drawn path! nvm it's still a Gear after all, hopefully the versus mode would be more interesting! love the details and the story though!

I always loved Gears more than Halo.
For me its the opposite, but I still like Gears....especially after the first entry, which I thought was highly overrated at the time and all those "Gears has dethroned Halo, step aside Master Chief" reviews were bullshit in my opinion, the original Gears was decent game, nothing more and the franchise really became more entertaining from Gears 2 onwards.

Anyhow Gears 1 barely had any story to begin with, the series only started to get interesting from Gears 2. So thats one of main reasons I think the first game was overrated

The game is good, arguably not as far on either side of the spectrum but still as a game it’s enjoyable. Why though, do I need to stay connected to the gears servers in order to play a single player campaign regardless of how many players? It literally kicked me out of the final cutscene from the ending because of “connection issues”. Just wish less games were over reliant on internet connections

I really liked this game. Overall is an improvement over 4: better movement, better content, better story and mechanics. Is one of the best Microsoft games from the Xbox One gen, but not the best. Forza Horizon 4 holds that title.

Really, really, hate the new protagonists. I find them so lame comparing to Marcus, Cole, and, Santiago. To me, the last Gears of war was the # 3 and the ones after, just okay spin-offs.
It's easy to pick best games in this generation when there's only a few games to begin with.
My only problem is Kait and the splitscreen is crap. Gears of war 1,2,3 had way better splitscreen graphics and movement than 4 and 5.

Any word on this game having an offline horde mode. Gears 4 you needed an internet connection to even play horde mode solo
You still need to be online. Its 2019. The "I don't have internet" excuse is tired. If you don't have a stable connection at this point in our lifetime, just go play your 360.

Well Gears 4 was already great looking game, but from what Ive seen is that while Gears 5 isnt like next-gen leap in graphics/visuals, its definitely a leap forward nonetheless, so yes its still more or less clearly better looking game than Gears 4.
