I still have not found a video explaining step by step how to remove an old/worn ceramic coating safely and ending with a new coating.

After installing a ceramic coating I always ask customers to come back every 90 days for application of a spray top coat. Our local water is loaded with minerals so clients that don’t come back invariably get water spots. I’m hoping these new Silicon Carbide and Graphene infused coatings provide better protection against hard water spots. Waiting to try out the new Silicon Carbide coating from CarPro.
John G - Every 90 days is great aftercare, and based on our experience the topcoat will provide what many people believe the ceramic coat will provide. We treat the ceramic coat itself as a paint protection element & the topcoat as the hydrophobic & gloss element - so in our opinion getting the customer back every 90 days is great service and you should be commended 👍🏽. The current batch of Graphene coatings are not where they need to be in our opinion hence why we have not produced any Graphene product videos yet. The new CarPro Silicon Carbide coating is a replacement for the TiO2 coating which was CarPro’s ‘high gloss’ coating. If you’ve not subscribed please do so. Happy New Year 👍🏽💯🚗
There are minerals in the water, when it dries the minerals are still there. No matter what kind of coating the minerals will still be there. No way of avoiding this with hard water with minerals.
Was enjoying this until 9:30 when it froze? Looks corrupted, the thumbnail image along the time slider freezes beyond that point. Just me then?

Really surprised how quickly the ceramics faded... esp Miyabi. What dilution were you using Reset at?
@Adam Balfour -Glad you raised this question as it’s the point of the video to show that ceramic coat hydrophobicity may not last as long as people are led to believe! The top coat sacrificial layer is what is more crucial in not only protecting the ceramic coat but also providing the hydrophobicity. This sacrificial layer can be boosted/re-applied after every wash. Another good question regarding Reset dilution - as you could see it was hardly foaming - all we used was one cap full in a full detailing bucket - so the answer is Reset was used at a high dilution rate 👍🏽
@Adam Balfour - This video also highlights that the detailing community is led to believe that beading means that hydrophobic protection is present but this may not be the case! Even though the coatings were still beading you could see that hydrophobic qualities had diminished severely!
@@VProjectUKDetailing but you'd expect Miyabi to hydrophobically last a lot better than that? No? I am not a massive fan of topping every wash... all you're doing in my opinion is sandwiching in embedded contamination (iron, tar, road film, limescale) that isn't removed in your typical weekly wash. I only top cars quarterly after a full decon because layering LSPs over embedded contamination means that the only way to remove the sandwiched contaminants is repeated chemical hits (you saw how long multi x took to break down cosmic, and that's just one layer) or through mechanical abrasion which isn't possible on a coated car...

According to Young's equation, if solid-liquid and solid-gas surface tensions proportionally increase or decrease, you get the same contact angle (beading) at different surface tension (sheeting). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wetting#Simplification_to_planar_geometry,_Young's_relation
Gunes Inan - Thanks for your support! Yes in our opinion a ceramic coat should be seen as a 1-2 micron layer of glass quartz which is used to ‘protect’ a vehicles paint surface on a semi-permanent basis. Our experience shows that the Alkoxysilanes which provide most of the hydrophobic elements of most ceramic coats deteriorate quite rapidly, even after washing with pH7 (pH neutral) soaps. We class the ceramic coat as ‘protection’, a good long lasting ceramic sealant such as PolishAngel Cosmic Spritz, Kamikaze Collection OverCoat v3 or CarPro ReLoad as the hydrophobic top coat (depending on which look you want e.g. a warm Carnauba Glow or cool crisp glow) which protects the ceramic coat from water spotting and provides the hydrophobic properties. We also advise to give the vehicle a quick spritz with a good ceramic quick detailer after each wash e.g. CarPro EliXir to maintain the Hydrophobic properties and give the vehicle some kick-ass gloss. We are not here to criticise anybody else on CZcams as everyone can have their own experience but there is too much misinformation regarding ceramic coats, and too many videos produced showing amazing results without any true real world knowledge or longevity testing.
