    As a fellow Yucatecan, I agree with your statement, lately there has been a surge in pride and a bit of a independence movement. It's quit small and not well known but now days if you go downtown you will see a lot of Yucatecan flags all over the place, something that 5 or 10 years ago was very rare.
    Anyhow, we actually became a independent nation twice, not once. Thank you for sharing my state flag and history not a lot of people know about Yucatan, which is sad, because it is a very beautiful and safe part of Mexico. Also I have my own Yucatecan flag. ❤️

      Esa bandera lo único que representa es la ineptitud del gobierno de Yucatán, bandera usada para vender esclavos mayas a Cuba lo que luego desataría su tan famosa 'guerra de castas' en la que los mayas querían expulsar a los yucatecos de la península (razón por la que no se menciona en la historia de México ya que en ese entonces Yucatán era semi-independiente) y que al verse derrotados y acorralados por el pueblo maya, los yucatecos regresaron con la cola entre las patas primero a intentar anexarse a EUA y como los mandaron a la mierda se re-anexaron a México a cambio de que controlaran a los mayas. Si fuera Yucateco diseñaría una nueva bandera esa da LASTIMA Y RISA la usan por ignorancia y sin saber lo qué hay detrás de ella

    • @Vinter927
      @Vinter927 Před 4 lety +11

      @@chiapasmexico9749 a ver... Primero que nada eso que mencionas de los esclavos a Cuba si se enseña aquí en Yucatán. No es que nosotros no estemos concientes y que lo ignoremos, y si te informaras un poco más respecto a la historia de Yucatán, te darías cuenta que la bandera si tiene un significado y su creación está vinculada no solo con la independencia del estado, pero también con los diferentes departamentos que antes formaban parte del estado. Y también estamos concientes de la guerra de Castas y en realidad eso se enseña aquí como algo positivo ya que demuestra el deseo de los habitantes indígenas, los mayas, y como ellos no sequedaron callados y lucharon por sus derechos. De igual manera, tu opinión de que nuestra bandera da "lástima y risa" te la puedes quedar, claro uno que no es de la región y no sabe TODA su historia no lo comprendería, pero para nosotros los YUCATECOS, esa bandera hoy en día representa la UNIÓN, y para nosotros es un orgullo ondear esa bandera y portarla que hasta nuestro equipo, los Leones de Yucatán la portan en su uniforme. Y perdoname pero yo no me voy a quedar con los brazos cruzados al ver qué estén insultando nuestra hermosa bandera. tan hermosa que muchos extranjeros que vienen al estado hablan de lo hermosa que es y se la llevan como un hermoso recuerdo del estado. Y de hecho nosotros nos sentimos orgullosos que aparte de tener bandera, tenemos un Himno del Estado, hecho por Manuel Palomeque que en lo personal lo considero muy hermoso. Y pues no digo que el gobierno yucateco es santo y perfecto, cometió errores, pero también hay que considerar que éramos una nación joven, igual México cometió errores cuando se independizó, las naciones de centroamerica cometieron errores cuando se independizaron, ninguna nación es perfecta pero como dice el dicho, hombre que no sabe su historia, destinado está a repetirla y Yucatán está aprendiendo de su historia y se puede ver el cambio al ser nombrado el estado más seguro de México y Mérida una de las ciudades más seguras del MUNDO que hasta los premios nobel se hicieron en mi hermoso estado. Quizá tú opinión sea distinta a la mía, pero a nivel mundial, Yucatán, su historia y sobretodo su bandera son vistas como algo hermoso y único y eso no lo puedes cambiar y nosotros tampoco te guste o no.

    • @albmaralb
      @albmaralb Před 4 lety +1

      Actually, more than half of Spain (and Europe) has the same Celtic roots as Galicians. The idea that Galicia or Asturias are somehow "Celtic nations" comes from the romantic period and the popularity of the modern Celtic music, but it is historically wrong when put into context. Remember that Celts came from central Europe (nowadays Austria and south Germany) and extended across Europe including most of Spain. No Celtic language survives in Galicia, like in any other part of Spain, and the only connection to its Celtic roots are popular traditions and celebrations, like in many other regions of Spain: Cantabria, Castilla y León, etc. It is true though that there have been migrations between the north of Spain (including Galicia) and Ireland, which makes their people genetically closer, although not in a special "Celtic way". In any case, I also have great respect not only for Galicia, but the people and history of Ireland (where Celtic languages do survive).

    If you haven't already done a show on the following, it could be interesting. Flags of countries that are yet to be. Several areas have contemplated severing ties with their country and becoming their own nation. As an example, there has been a longterm movement to separate the area of the former Kingdom of Naples/Two Sicilies and re-establish it as a separate nation. The organized movement has several options for flags - 4 I think the last time I checked. Each combines different elements from previous flags depending on the form of the new government - if the House of Borboni is restored the flag will have their familial Arms; if a confederation it may be a combination of the flag of Sicily (which, with the triskeles, is similar to that of the Isle of Man) and the flag of Naples, etc. Probably could do a whole show just on that one topic since the centuries of flags used by the kingdoms involved are plenty.

Now we are Mexicans again, and we are proud of it... but we still keeping this flag (the old Yucatan republic) as a symbol of identity and proud. Every star represents to the most important places in the territory in that time: Merida (Actual Capital city), Campeche (The actual capital city of Campeche state), Valladolid, Tekax and Izamal.
