Duramax LB7 broken crank engine removal

My sons and I got the old LB7 out of the truck last weekend. I didn't have time to get it on the engine stand, but we'll get to that when we have time. Once I get the oil pan pulled, I'll be sure to update what's actually broken.

Good day from Ontario. Yes I hard that sound before, we had David Brown tractor diesel that broke crank But we u say about that much power coming out think were it going thur. Thanks too bad.

How power was your tune making and how much pedal were you giving it when she went? Also curious what happened to the original motor in this truck? Curious as I run a similar setup.

I was on the 3rd hottest tune on my DSP5. I'm not sure what power level exactly that would be, but this setting was labeled "light tow" when I took the truck back from being rebuilt. the 4th and 5th power level tunes are noticeably more powerful (smokey) than the 3rd level that I was on. I was towing about 7,000lbs. I was using cruise control, so again, hard to say, but it wasn't floored. I was not abusing the truck at the time of the incident, but I did occasionally (once a month,) give it all she had on the hottest tune. So the failure is likely due to stresses inflicted over the life of the 60,000 miles the new motor lived.
The sound came on gradually. It wasn't a noticeable explosion or anything. Got gradually worse and worse until I got to where I was going with the trailer, and it was obvious by then. The original motor had 410,000 hard miles on it and needed a water pump, ran really rough and smoked badly, so I decided to go all in on a ground-up rebuild and keep the rig. I'm still not done fully tearing down the motor, so unsure if I'll go back with a stock crank and keep the power out of it, or if I'll go forged and drive it how I want.

What HP? Where did you put the money in that engine,.just stop k or upgrades?

All the mods I did would support 640 RWHP. I'm not sure what you're asking about the upgrades. Can you clarify?
