I know exactly what you are going through and what your feeling. I bought a new Ram Laramie 2500 Mega Cab black edition and at 7,500 miles the fuel pump imploded sending metal throughout the fuel system. When it arrived at the dealer it literally took the diesel tech two minutes to tell me that my motor was done. He pulled one bolt off the motor, wiped the hole with a latex glove on and showed it to me. It was covered with metal shavings. They told me I was the seventh truck they had seen that month with the same problem. This happened during COVID so no parts were available. The service tech told me off the record I wouldn't see my truck for months. My truck was in St George, UT and I live outside of Las Vegas. It ended up taking 4 months for that truck to be fixed. During those 4 months I was referred to a fleet manager at one of the Las Vegas Ram dealerships who knew all about the fuel pump problems Ram was having and told me the customers were getting screwed over by Daimler/Chrysler. He took my busted truck, that was paid for, on trade and put me in another Ram. This one was a 3500 dually HO Laramie Black Edition so I had a small difference to finance. A few months later I was in Dallas and I auto started the truck from my room. When my wife and I got down to the truck I told her that I thought the truck sounded different out of the exhaust pipe. Of course she thought I was crazy. The truck ran and drove fine and then we stopped somewhere near the New Mexico state line to fuel up. When I restarted the truck the check engine light was on. I plugged in a reader and there were two codes, one being the EGR. The truck was running fine and gave no indication that anything was wrong other than the engine light being on. We made it to Albuquerque that night and home the following afternoon and then took the truck in the following day. Within a few days they had fixed the EGR and something else they had caught and called me to tell me they should be done with the truck shortly. When they called back , I'm thinking to tell me to come get the truck , it was to tell me that the EGR had taken out the ECM , the trucks computer , and they were in the process of trying to find one. We all know about the computer chip shortage during COVID! One week turned into two and then seven. They gave me a Jeep Gladiator Mojave as a rental. I asked several times for at the very least a 2500. I was told that had to be approved by Chrysler so I opened a case with them. Week after week went by with nothing being done so I finally said keep the truck and refund my money. The difference had been paid off by this point so this truck was paid off. I was told I would have to close my case and open an arbitration against them so I did that. I was given a date. They picked the arbiter so guess who they sided with? Three day's before the arbitration I got a call out of nowhere that my truck was ready to be picked up. When my truck was finally driven out it was dirtier than when I had dropped it off so I said to the service writer damn you don't even wash them anymore. He fired back at me with what did you say? I said you had my truck for seven fuckin weeks and you don't even wash it! I told him this is the last Ram I will ever buy and that's when it hit me, THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE OR ACCOUNTABILITY ANYMORE. The results of the arbitration were a big fat we're sorry. We're sorry you spent $80,000 + and wasted all kind's of time out of your life on two different piece of shit trucks that we manufacture. I sold that truck and vowed I would never buy another one but that just makes me wonder if the next guy is any better. Sorry for the dump but I never really shared my story with anyone.

I went through a similar situation with Chevrolet. Over 6 months of hassle and they finally bought it back 2 weeks before my court date. If I was in the market for a new work truck I would buy the ford with the 7.3 gas engine. With the 4.30 rear gear it will tow just fine and you won’t have the added expense of diesel/def or the worries of the complicated emissions system failing. Hopefully they’ll figure out how to make diesels work reliably with the low emissions requirements in the near future.

Just watched a video on a Ram that had fuel pump recall, fuel pump went out, got lip service from dealer and found no replacements were available. Also, they rented a car for a short time for a $500. bucks . Chrysler said they would send them $280. They hadn't received that yet. Good luck with getting $7000. They traded their Ram in for a Ford and lost $15,000 on the deal because their truck didn't run.

It hasn’t arrived yet though and it’s been more than 30 days. Oh yeah I was pulling my horse trailer with 4 horses for business and 7 hrs from home. No one has helped - dealer, shop or RAM customer care. I finally rented a small pickup 30 days later ( can’t tow with this vehicle) have lost lots of time, work and energy. I’m eyeing a duramax, which is being refreshed this year. Otherwise a gas ram or ford heavy duty….gm’s gas trucks can haul 3600 and tow 14k+ with 26000 GCWR…that’s all you need unless you got a CDL, though having a bigger buffer is good (20k rating but towing 14k). You wont be able to lemon law a running truck…that only works if you got a problem that dealer can’t fix on 3 attempts and it’s still broken. I wouldn’t waste your money on an attorney and instead sell or trade it in…you lose a good chunk in depreciation though.

Owning automotive machine shops you see and hear the horror stories and success stories daily.
It seems evident right now that Ram is having the most issues dealing with their emission systems. I hear about the amount of computers they have on board managing these systems and it seems staggering.
I myself own a 2012 and when I found out it costs over $3000 to clean out the diesel particulate filter, I went to work on other options. What’s sad is that you can remove much of the emissions systems on my particular model and it will actually run cleaner out of the exhaust and get much better fuel mileage. Plus 5 around town. Plus 10 on the highway easy.
My 2012 has had to have a new water pump installed. Easy and expected. A few trips to the dealer for recalls. No big deal at all. It did go into limp mode but you couldn’t hardly tell. Just drain the water separator and change the fuel filters. Reset all back to normal. It’s nice.
My fathers 2018 3500 ........ Now it’s a nightmare. Oil leaking all over the place. Doesn’t get good mileage. He is convinced the turbo is bad. He is a mechanic so he knows.
I’ve been doing lots of work on all of the big 3 Diesel engines.
Even the old Duramax heads with the injector tube issues have a rock solid fix to them. I’m getting older cylinder heads in to repair with this new method. It’s so solid that I do not call it a repair but rather an upgrade.
Seems like across the board. Good cylinder head studs will shore up problems. Almost to the point of being a must.
Most owners are taking their converters off around these parts. Not just for performance upgrades or to be rebel rouser about anything. It’s too keep the damn converter thieves from cutting them off. It’s insane around here. Boat ramps you name it. They cut them off.
These brand new trucks are all viewed as a liability right now.
John Deere tractor. Their lots are full. They’re full around here because most of the farmers are done dealing with these new emissions systems and the computers locking them out.
John Deere tractors with lots of hours and no computers are going for much more money than they have in the past.
People are tired of the extra hassle and liabilities coupled with the lack of accountability from the dealerships.
Ford is actually threatening their dealerships for price markups.
I just read that all three of the big 3 dealerships just collectively refused to tool up for electric vehicle maintenance.
It’s expected that each dealer spend an average of $1.5 million dollars to purchase the tooling necessary to conduct repairs. Tax deductions being stripped to the bear minimum for these upgrades have stopped that idea from coming to fruition.
I’m seeing many mechanics and especially the older retired ones restoring early 60s cars and trucks. Not show quality just daily driver level.
What is finding interesting is that they don’t even want electronic ignition systems on them in fear of ignition module shortages. They was points ignition on them. I’m seeing this quite a bit. I know it’s due to my location but I also know I’m not the only one seeing it. The price of NOS points are rising to show that it’s a broad move.

from a 35-year Dodge/Ram tech. Sounds to me like you went to the wrong dealership. Techs are in a major shortage and even more if you're looking for an experienced tech. Do your research before taking it to a dealership. From the sounds of it, you need to take it back to a dealership anyway. Ever since covid19, we have no parts. Everything is on back order. Ram don't make payments on rentals. They will reimburse you after they get the final bill, as would any business. Secondly, trade it in for a Ford or Chevy. Spend more money and even get less warranty help from them. For example, your 100-gallon fuel tank, Ford will void your fuel system warranty for that🤔.. Ram does not do that, and that's just one example...Don't hate on the product, hate the people you're dealing with, and from the sounds of it, you need to deal with different dealership.

If you do the Lemon route, Stellantis will delay, delay, delay with the lawsuit hoping to frustrate or break you. The attorney will promise you the moon, but deliver a gumball. It's easy money for the attorney. All they have to do to fulfill their commitment to you is shuffle a little paperwork. If you really want to fight and get made whole, then you will need to pay the attorney up front. And that will be an easy $50k minimum.
It took a little over a year to settle my case, and I ended up getting no more with the attorney than if I would have negotiated directly with Stellantis. The Lemon Laws weren't written with the current upside down market in mind. I could have sold my old truck for more than I paid for it in 2018. But the law did not provide for that, so I had to come up with $30k to replace a truck that was paid for.
It's just sad that you can't trust your new truck. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Ford has a head start with the 7.3 Godzilla V8 (I had a 2020 for 50K miles, was a great truck!), Ram has theirs and GM too - they will up their game w/ power to match Ford. I own a 2014 Ram in Canada it's a 6.7 Cummins 3/4 ton and in 2018 the turbocharger failed on it so I took it to where it was originally purchased and because it had 80,000 km on it it was still covered under warranty and they fixed it the very next day an entire turbocharged system including labor probably about $6,000 absolutely free this was at Londonderry Chrysler in Edmonton Alberta..... just saying my experience was the complete opposite of this fellow here's experience it was a flawless repair and attitude

If you decided to do lemon law it could take a couple years to resolve it and in the meantime you still have to make the payments hold onto the vehicle etc. etc., you have the right if you don’t feel safe in something to bring it back, or the dealer purchase it back from you and get another truck from them, it’s a tough situation I’ve been through it myself and again it could take years to resolve, at this point hopefully you get reimbursed with everything in definitely keep all your records and start using the truck, I do feel dodge with the Cummins is probably the best truck on the market for working folks, But when this happens to people it’s a non-consolidated nightmare and nothing you would think after spending that kind of money could ever happen I’m sorry you’re going through this, I know that Dodge has been having some problems with their trucks, I purchased a duly early last year and recently a 2500, My 2500 is squealing when I go from reverse to Ford it has to go in for that but everything running OK, there’s a recall on the transmissions So I think they’re having some issues

Keep up with what you are doing legally against them. If you have to sue them make them pay for switching your add ons over to the replacement truck. These manufacturers are counting on the fact that most people will just give up and buy something else. Keep posting the videos on the problems you are having and tge way they deal with them both good and bad. That is the only thing that will cause them to change the way they treat customers and maybe the way they build this way over priced crap they are selling !!!!!

Have your engine compression checked for wear & tear by the dealer you bought the truck from. Grads on the new baby, but now is the time to be a problem solver. Put a positive spin on your experience and claim some responsibility and move on like an adult. This truck, as bad as you think it is, might still be the best you ever had. Be nice to Ram and Ram will be nice to you. If your engine has problems beyond the warranty, Ram will take care of you. My Son had a glitch on his new f150 tranny ford could not figure out, I had the shop super sign and note the issue. After 40k it blew in Colorado and Ford replaced it with a new one, this was before the 100k power train coverage evolved. Try not to be so sensitive over my comment... I will tell you like it is to keep you from falling back so you can start moving forward...I am not a robot, nor am I a psychologist, but l am a Muse only to help you like I helped my million dollar son and my other high ranking D.C. Government Man son.

Word to the wise, stay the hell away from diesel engines, period. I have 36 yrs in Trucking and there is only way to make these diesel engines to run correctly and that is full deletes and the government doesn't allow that. Ford does have the best diesel out to delete as of now. Just pay buy the big gas engines and lower gearing what you save on price difference you'll pay in gas. But diesel is to damn expensive anyways. Dude your problem is simple compared to the International Promax engine. EGR go out all the time and isn't considered a lemon law towards the engine it's an emissions system issue mandated by big government you sue them or nothing. Wasting money with your attorney I can vouch for that. Government mandates and until the people bring class action law suit against the government your screwed.

Lol you should be thankful you’re complaining and you don’t even know the half of it. I had it POS 2017 power stroke. It’s been in the shop a dozen times and most of them more than a month and they replaced half the engine the entire fuel system and there’s always that next thing every 10,000 miles, the truck has been in the shop literally six months of total time since I’ve owned it at this point I’m trying to get it sold back as a lemon because it’s a piece of junk with barely 50,000 miles on it. I will never buy another Ford product! And my friend bought a stroke two years after I did and it has marginal better success I thought maybe my truck was just a lemon now he’s having problems with his, I have a know plenty of contractors who run rams and I know them personally like friends and I never see them out of their trucks. In fact, I don’t even know one of them that’s been out of their truck for more than a day or two at most if ever most of them have never had problems they’re all running trucks that are 10 years old with hundreds of thousands of miles soon I will be driving a ram because the chances of getting one like yours is about one and 10 million and buying another Ford I have about a 50% chance I’ll have problems before 100,000 miles and definitely after the warranty’s gone! be thankful.
