Ford F450 vs RAM 3500 (What are our thoughts?)

- โ ๐ We had the opportunity to drive the Ford F450 for the last two months. This opened our eyes to some great perspectives between the RAM 3500 and the Ford F450. We are not experts but think we have some valuable perspectives as others look at both trucks' strengths. #ram3500 #f450

Im amazed yall didnt mention the stopping power of the Ram exhaust brake! I think that is possibly one of the main standouts between the two trucks! Great comparison though.
Agree with you!! We have 88K miles and still on the original brakes. We tow heavy. Exhaust brake is incredible.
Actually this is a great point. Honestly I never thought about it while making the video. I do believe that the RAM does win in this category.
Stopping power is important. Not all loads are equal - my dump trailer will carry 8 tons of rock and will push a F150 through a light.....ask me how I know (why I have the F350).๐๐คช
Great info... definitely a preference thing... thanks for posting!
Great video!! Thanks for sharing!ยก
Thanks for your inputs your lucky you got to drive both trucks and pull your camper thanks again for all your information. Thanks From Wisconsin
The mirrors on the Ram we do our daily driving with them in tow mode. We find it provides better visibility and when parked just hit that wonderful fold in button. :)
Great video, very fun.
Ha nice video guys been looking foward to this video ๐!! Great job with comparisons ! Btw I have a 2019 gmc Denali 3500 DRW if you ever want to try that for a comparison!
So happy you have your Ram back...I love the Ram, thanks for this video, entertaining!
Glad you got the truck back. Nice to see the comparison. On the puck system if using a 5th wheel hitch fords base is a lot smaller than the ram so lighter weight (about 70# just for the base) and takes up less bed space. But if using the gooseneck ball chains def harder to reach for sure.
Watched your video this morning... received a fuel pump recall on my 2019 Ram 3500 in the mail this afternoon...BTW, 2 inch leveling kit is part of the visibility issue you are having on the front.
My Ram is almost as awesome as you guys are.
I love how you guys are so energetic, and so sweet i enjoy watching you guys how you guys talk and explain everything.
Thanks SO very Much for this video.
Very cool breakdown. Ram Cummins with the high output is great pulling truck. Ford has really increased their game on the 2020 and up with the engine and the 10 speed. You Ram is beautiful and I hope you have trouble free miles ahead.
I have always been a Dodge Girl and My husband had only ever had Fords , well the engine blew on his 2016 Ford last year and with the truck shortages we ended up with a 2022 Dodge 3500 and he ( and I ) absolutely love it .
Nice comparison!
Ram fixed the mirrors in 2023 model, thankfullyโฆ they really are both solid HDs.
Fun to hear a compare like this since you did get a good exp on the Ford.
Very much enjoyed your comparisons ๐๐ป๐๐๐ป๐๐ป
Thank you so much ๐
Fair comparison with your personal preference. Well done!
We really like the 450 it's just that the RAM just seems to fit our current season of life. Now that being said the new 450 coming out has some huge upgrades and we can't wait to see them because we have a friend who has ordered on for 2023.
I'm glad you got your truck back, we are still waiting on RAM to do our recall. Our 2019 RAM is our first RAM. Best truck that I have ever owned. And the mirrors drive me crazy also.
Looks by the comments they fixed the mirrors - but of course not trading it in just for mirrors lol Thanks for watching
Nicely done
Before getting my RAM 1500 Rebel, I drove nothing but Fords for 20 years. Not sure Iโll go back if I stick to a pickup. The RAM is killer.
Great content guys. Noticed new rims and tires. What are the size for both? Thanks
Another awesome video. Thanks for sharing
I understand about you both being sick, glad you're feeling better. RAM all the way.
I think that your review is great! My dad has always been a RAM guy and Iโm trying to get him to buy a Ford F450. This review was really helpful and it was very detailed. I do think that there was a bit of unfairness in the comparison between the trucks because the RAM was a Limited and the Ford was a Lariat and the RAM was obviously going to have more comfort because of the package. Ford fixed everything for the most part and I can take that into consideration. I Appreciate the time and effort put into the video!
Too bad you didnโt get to try out the 10 speed in the 2020+ Super Duties.
Good real word opinion piece. ๐
Great video! Congrats on getting the truck back! You commented on the fuel pumps in the Ford and Dodge using Bosch CP4s. GM did too until recently. They still use CP4s but they aren't made by Bosch, they're another brand. The incidents of blown fuel pumps have decreased significantly.
If you try a GM 3500 dually, one thing you will note is that the seats aren't nearly as comfortable as the ones in your Dodge. We love our 2500HD Silverado with the Duramax and 10-speed Allison transmission. It does have a very stiff ride, though. My friend has a 3500 Silverado Dually with Duramax and he swears by it towing his 5th-wheel.
When the L5P Duramax came out in 2017 they dropped Bosch totally. They went to a Denso system. The pump unfortunately is called an HP4 and it has ZERO in common with the CP4. If anything, the basic architecture is more similar to the old reliable CP3.
@1 Has Been - Thanks for the added info. I didn't recall the manufacturer but I did recall Denso system being mentioned. The bottom line is that GM got sick and tired of the expense involved in replacing the Bosch CP4 pumps though I thought the change came in the 2020 model year, not 2017.
I'm glad to see you two finally got her back! BTW, the Ram now has a tailgate recall as well.
Yeah... we just got that. They don't have a fix yet I guess.
I checked with Ford on ours and they said they would only do the recall if you've experienced an issue, which we haven't, yet. Same thing with the "Death Wobble" recall.
@@SwitchItUpLife they do, the striker plate is miss-aligned. If you are not having to slam the tailgate you are good. If you are like us, and slammed it enough, it fixes itself. :)
@@SwitchItUpLife they do. Just got mine done last week
Great video! Glad you got Shrek back!
Us too! Merry Christmas to you, the unicorn and your boys!
So I drive Ram and my cousin has a Ford we both have dogs and one thing I love about the Ram is the way the backseat folds down and creates one large area; in her Ford only the base of the seats fold up
My Ram 3500 and my old 2500 Dodge back seats both fold up and I can't complain.
Love you both, but we are keeping our F450. Because of the turning radius, we can get into our storage space. Keep up the great work!
Good stuff. Again it is a personal preference and Sheila really did enjoy driving the F450 more. So it is just a preference in our current season of life. I just never saw a video pointing out the little differences like the mirrors. Those little things make a big difference trying to make a decision. Hope it helps someone as they starts their journey.
Great channel! Curious how the vinyl wrap is holding up, any issues?
No issues except one nickel size area in a curve where it has bubbled a bit. But it still looks great
The window feature on Ford is something I really like, much better visibility.
I have owned Fords and Ram and we are for thr Ram, various reasons, true diesel, inline 6. They dialed it in when they had thr 5.9 and the 6.7 is just a bigger 5.9. :)
Love that wrap on your RAM
Thank you Annette - Shrek has green eyes :-). Helps us find our truck in with all the 100 other black trucks out there
Enjoyed the comparison. As far as ride, f450 is rougher ride due to stiffer suspension. As far as comfort it looks like the f450 may not be a comparable trim package to your dodge. But, your interior is very nice. Mines a โ19 f350 king range dually, love it, but wouldnโt mind one like yours.
Good video for us wanting a dual y. How was the exhaust brake on the Ford? Iโve heard itโs not as strong or noticeable as the Ram. Thanks for sharing.
Honestly, they seemed similar. They both handle really well
I really enjoyed your report. I would agree 1000% as to everything you mentioned. Two huge things you left out. The rear wheel fenders on the Ford look like the we're taken off a 67 Dodge ram. The new Ram frnders
When i ordered my 2018 ram dually, i never owned a truck prior, so i had some help researching which one, it got narrowed down to ford and the ram, and when i learned the ford engine is difficult to work on, and your gonna pay hundreds $ more for the labour of pulling out that ford engine! Yup f! ford off to the ram dealer i went, lol.
Very interesting vid guys, it boils down to whatโs the best truck for you and your needs and wants. Love my Ramโฆ.I passed the semis all the time in the mountains pulling 42ft 5er, was like camper wasnโt even there! RAM wins again! ๐ป
We have the RAM 3500 as well and it is a pulling monster - agree with you! You mentioned you wish it has keyless entry - it does. I walk up to my truck and touch the handle the doors unlock. Yours should as well...not sure if there is a parameter in the settings that you have off? We love our Ram and just made the appointment for the fuel pump replacement (before we break down on the side of the road as you did!). Take care and Merry Christmas!
I should of clarified. I was thinking about the touch pad with numbers in case we want to run and get something out of the truck without our keys on us. Glad you are getting your fuel pump replaced before anything bad happens.
My Husband was on the truck side at Claycomo 33 years so we are bias, But they all have their features. Glad you have the truck back.
Good stuff... Kansas City is our home city. KC proud.
We hauled a 40 up and over the Rockies in a snow storm. Had to stop at the tunnel. Our 2019 Ram Tradesman pulled it like a dream. And that's at 11250 feet. It was really hard to tell it was even back there. My Ram had the same brake issues. Changed the power cord on the trailer. Sprayed electric contact cleaner on the plugs. I installed a additional ground wire from the rig to the hitch. Had the truck checked in Mobil and Sierra Vista. The latter installed a new brake switch. Had the problem one more time on the way to Phoenix. That was 2021. Haven't had the problem since. I'd am curious to know what your fix was.
The only thing I personally like more about the 450 is the wide track front axle. That tighter turn radius is amazing in a long truck. And if ram would make a โmax towโ package or something like it with the wider front axle it would be a sweep for me
When I was looking at a new truck I shopped all 3. Took an ole reliable Ram home. Just like the last 50 years of Dodge or Ram trucks I have owned no issues except minor ones that all brands experience.
I'm a GMC Sierra 3500 HD Dually owner. It's my preferred vehicle. I grew up around Ford trucks but haven't driven a new one, same with Ram. The GMC has folding mirrors as well as extendable ones at the push of a button. Very quiet and very comfortable. Even has cooled/heated seats!
I'll take my Denali over ford or dodge ALL day Long !!!
GM does make nice trucks. I owned a 2020 3500. On the downside, they are far from the competition when it comes to hauling. If o was pulling a weekend rv, Iโd probably ride in style in a gmc, but if I spend 5-7 days working the truck pulling 34k+ lbs, the gm, Chevrolet or gmc, would not even remotely be on the capable truck list.
The perfect truck would have the body of an F40, Cummins engine and Allison transmission.
Love my Ram!!
For you Chevy/Gmc guys, your Allison transmission has more in common with the power stroke transmission than it does a true Allison. Not that it's bad, it's not.
I saw the video and had to watch it. I currently have a 2017 F350 and am looking to upgrade to a newer vehicle. The F450 has been my first choice (Ford guy - all the way back to a Ranger), but I am going to seriously have to look at the Ram. My brother has a 1500 with over 300K miles and has been his favorite. The luxury inside is not a big deal as I can go with a higher trim level (which I will not - my trucks are work vehicles). My RV is a Class A. Towing and usability are more important. Thanks for the video and stay safe on the road.,
My wife and I were test driving a Ram. Never left the dealer lot after going over a speed bump. That was so hard on our backs we just parked the truck and went and purchased an F350. Much nicer and quieter ride. No issues pulling our 40 Alpine
That is funny we felt same way about the F450. It really becomes a personal preference.
Never had a Ram pickup, but I have had many Chev pickups back in the '70's-'80's. Got a Ford Powerstroke 7.3 turbo back in 1995 and had it for 17 years, with no issues. Then an '09 F450, King Ranch, one of the most comfortable trucks I've owned. Went to a motorhome after that (Cummins 8.3 ISC) and a '16 F150. It's at 133K miles, had an exhaust manifold on warranty, and have not had an issue since! Keep up with maintenance and any. recalls, and all is good. I do have a brother with a 3500 Ram, and it's had a lot of recalls, but he loves it! BTW- Often on the F450 folks are amazed at the turning radius, is the Ram similar?
Ok , what your saying is the 450 is a he man truck and the dodge is a pretty boy truck? ๐
Spot on about Ram we mostly have had Ram. Best truck in my opinion we are on our third one. Did own a chev and had several problems.
......and then, there is the day you're really impressed. Go tow a few thousand miles with a HDT. Todd, you know you want to. Sheila, microwave, refer, coffee maker.......BEDS for napping ;-) .Great comparison, I do hope you're able to spend some time in a HDT. Be Safe-Have Fun!
Great perspective! I own a Ram 3500 swd. Just learned that Ram has listened. The 2024 Ram will have electronic redesigned mirrors! ๐โ๏ธ๐ค
Fun Video, enjoyed the comparison and viewpoints. If you'd examine with 2023/24 units... the highpoints on Ram would be on F450... Torque, etc. I haven't ridden in a newer Ram Dually, but the F450 is a firm ride although the 2023 is much smoother than the 2019, especially if you have top 3 trim levels. Being a GM Guy... F450 all around for me.... I think. LOL!
Well that should break the internet ๐๐๐
The little thing I like better about the ford and other trucks if you work them hard is the removable rear dually fenders are a lot easier and cheaper to fix
Fun video! I'm a Ford guy but wouldn't turn down any of them! I bought a 22 F450 new last July and Ford has upped their game since 19 with these, basically the same look but the power is incredible. I particularly love the turn radius because I also plow snow with it and it's more maneuverable than my 19 F350 SRW was. I will agree that RAM has a prettier interior but I like the simple clean lines inside and out. I hate those RAM mirrors with a passion! They have a cheap and "good enough" look to them, on my 450 I don't even need to move the mirrors out to see down past the length of our 44ft 5th wheel. One other thing I don't like is the rear, rounded bubble butt look, I like the more squared off lines but I like the look of the RAM front ends better. One thing that scares me about the Ford is they still use that Bosch CP4 fuel pump and RAM went back to the CP3 pump but like in every diesel...drain your water separator often! My biggest reason why Ive stuck with Ford is I worked at a Ford dealer for years and got employee pricing and the dealership we buy from now is such a painless experience when buying and we always get treated fair from a friend of mine who happens to be our salesman.
I have a 2020 ram 1500 - the manual mirrors were fixed in 2021 - it had something to do with the 360 camera and how the mirrors flip for tow mode - I couldnโt have both in 2020, but they offered it the next year.
Am A Ford Guy,But Lately Am Also Loving The Ram 3500 Duallys.I Love The Green Stripes On The Hood/Bonnet & Accents On The Grill.
Damn right! Nothing pulls like and runs like a Cummins! RAM/DODGE/MOPAR for life!
I think that a lot of this is personal choice and maybe a lot of brand loyalty. I have an 2018 F-350 SRW, and I traded a 2006 3500 Dodge Ram for the Ford back in January 2018. I liked the Dodge, but had way too many issues with it. The only thing on that truck that did not break was the Cummins motor, which I loved. I only had 86K on a 2006 truck when I traded it in 2018. I do every single recommended services, and take very good car of my trucks. With the Ford to date, I've had nothing break in 48K miles. I have had a ton of recalls that have been a major pain in the butt. Our tailgate did open on its own a couple of times, but luckily I was not pulling our 5th wheel at the times when it opened. BTW- I drove a 2018 3500 RAM before buying the Ford, and it was no comparison at all, the ride on the RAM was very rough, and the Ford was not. In your comparison you compare an F-450 to a 3500, so yes the ride will be rougher. Just my two cents.
Kent
Great. Video. !! I have. A 2019 350 gas. 6 Speed. Pulling a. 30. Ft. Approx. 9k. Fifth wheel. Weekend. Rv
For now. ,, let me first say that the Ford fifth wheel system sits over the axle which makes for better control and balance while towing. This is my first fifth wheel trailer and I will tell you it. Tows. Wonderfully , Leading. Me to when i have. The extra. Cash. To always upgrade to a 5th wheel should i need other trailer . And. Yes. The. Gas. Engine. Does. Tend. To scream when going up the PA. Hills. Looking. Now. At. F550. Rv. Hauler??
Agreed Sheila I see better out of the Fords too! To clarify itโs if you have the gossebox style hitch that you need chains? Yes, love keyless entry and auto everything mirrors! GMCs are hard to see past/over the hood. Very limited sight distance in the Chevy/GMCs (personal short woman opinion). Since we own a 3500 Ram(although older) and a Ford, we like both ๐Glad you did this comparison and that you still like Shrek โค๏ธ
The visibility was a big deal for my wife as well. Trim packages and other options on both brands make a big difference.
I noticed your guys changed your rims. How did that affect the towing?
Yes Todd. we went from a 2500 Silverado to an F350 dually and we lost the space between the tailgate and the 5th wheel. I hate that, drives me crazy. I already put the tailgate through the storage door on the 5th wheel๐จ๐ฆ๐
If you are using a hitch like the Champion you can change the placement of the hitch head plate arms and get the space back. If you are using a goose-neck, then yeah, nothing you can do.
@@OurRoadLessTraveled
It is the factory hitch from Ford, so there isnโt any adjustment ๐จ๐ฆ
Now that you have your truck back with a new injection pump look into a FASS system to protect your injection system. I wish I had put one on my motorhome that has an 8.3 Cummings in it before I had lost my injection pump. They put out plenty of CZcams videos to show you exactly how it removes almost all of the air that is in trained in diesel.
as a ram owner, i have driven 600 miles and the only time i have to adjust is when i stop for fuel! i have owned all 3 and the ram seats are very comfy!
My 2018 Ram Longhorn has the keyless entry system so yes the did or do have it.
I have a 2020 F250 with the diesel. The loud noise you hear when towing up mountains is likely the auxiliary cooling fan. It comes on when the engine gets real warm and it is loud. Scared me the first time it happened.
I wanted a Ram, but the rear seat space could not match the Ford. We travel with kids so that is something that that was important. So the wife nixed the Ram.
Overall I think both are great trucks and will do what you need them to do.
300k miles on my 2014 including towing well over max. No problems out of warranty.
Rams 4500 also has the better turning radius. So maybe compare those together, Iโm interested to see that
As a Ford dealer employee and tire shop owner I can tell you first hand that every turn in a Ford is a three-point turn. The light duties are just as bad compared to the ram and turning radius
That actually makes them harder to compare. the ram 4500 is a commercial cab and chassis truck thatโs de-tuned and has thicker frame and axles. There are two f450โs. The pick up, that is literally an f350 with thicker half shafts and a few other minor upgrades. And an f450 cab and chassis that is a commercial duty truck with a different frame and other HD components like the ram
I have always been a RAM guy with the SuperDuty a close second. Main points for the RAM, inline 6 pulling power, exhaust break, factory air bags, all LED lights, and Aisin transmission. Downsides, are the mirrors, slightly less legroom in the back seats, UConnect 5 Navigation via TomTom is horrible, and the puck system takes up 2/3 of the bed. Maria thought the Ford had more comfortable seats, but then realized they changed something in 22 on the passenger side seat. She says they are equal now. The Ford Torqueshift trans is very smooth and the 10 speed fits that V8 perfect. Its really dialed in. I think RAM has the Aisin 6 speed finally straight. We dont get any hard shifts. I will say the RAM DOES require some break in. The first 500 miles is horsepower and torque limited, which makes it feel very lethargic. keep this in mind on test drives. It has a second break-in for towing. Yep, another 500 miles. I was really questioning the 22 RAM HO purchase until we cleared both of the mileage points. We now have 4500 miles on her and the power is insane. Fuel mileage has come up to 19-24 on the interstate (depending on speed), 15-18 in town. We have a dually with 3:73 gears. we are at 3k on pin weight and 13k on the 5th wheel. Total CAT scale is about 23k
Thanks for sharing - super helpful for the crew!
Hauling up the mountains, the axle ratio makes a difference! The ratio of 4.10:1 is great, but you sacrifice some fuel economy. I haul my GD into the mountains all the time and my 4.10:1 ratio RAM 3500 dually with Cummins pulls the 37' camper very easily!
Agree with you. Its a pulling monster with the HO Engine coupled with the 4:10 which is what we have pulling a heavy 45' Riverstone toyhauler.
I drove a 2017 ram megacab limited dually with max tow package with 4:10 rear. It towed our 43โ fifth wheel like a dream. We hit I believe 5 mountain passes on a trip from Maryland to Ohio and back. What I love about ram is the Cummins engine, exhaust break, alt ride height and the comfort of the seat especially during long trips. What I hated about the ram was the rough shifting of the Aisian tranny. Sometimes, it felt as if we were hit from behind which was scary. The truckโs interior would shake at speed on the highway which had nothing to do with tire balance. I sold the truck in April of 2022.
I recently purchased a 2022 f450 limited and I actually like the way it rides. In my limited experience of ownership, the steering is very soft in comparison to the ram. I agreed with the mirrors and viewing area. While the bustle of the seats in the Ford is nice, I prefer the seating in the Ram (limited). Another grip with regard to the Ford is the exhaust break appears to be anemic in comparison to the Ram which aggressive. Finally, I like the 10 speed tranny in the f450. It shifts very smooth and effortlessly and the fuel mileage is better even with the 4:30 rear gears. Havenโt towed with yet but plan to take our rig out next month. Awesome truck comparison!
Why didn't you test a Ram 4500 vs F450? That is an apples to apples comparison, they're both the entry level commercial versions.
We drove what we have- we own a Ram 3500 and while it was in the shop our friends loaned us their F450 -
I absolutely love my 2021 Ram Tradsmen 3500 crewcab longbed Hemi. My trailer is only 8k loaded so I didn't need a diesel engine.
2023 Ram has new mirrors. Ram listened
What do you think of a getting a freightliner truck for towing?
Well - we have a few friends that tow with an HDT and it seems like another good option.
I notice the hood thing when going from a 2020 Sierra 3500 hd to a 2022 f350. The hood on the gmc was almost level and you really had a hard time seeing past the hood. The f350 I felt like I could see good past the hood and new where my front end was
Todd and Sheila,
In your comparisons, the Ram has better pull simply due to it being a straight 6 instead of a V engine, by nature they just have better torque. As to the interiors, your Ram is a Limited Laramie package and that F450 was only a Lariat package. If you had a chance to drive a King Ranch, Limited, or Platinum package F450 you would have had a much closer comparison to what you are used to. I agree they are both good trucks but if you get similar trim packages the steering and visibility would be much bigger influences in your overall thoughts. Can't wait to see you both again but we are still stranded waiting for an engine. Hopefully soon we will be out of central PA.
And then as RAM always LeapFrogs Ford you could go with the longhorn package which makes the Ford look like a joke
@@ubeuonly Iโve owned GMC, Ram, Chevy and Iโll stick to FORD. Out pulls them all No issues pulling our 40ft Alpine even up hill. Nicer interior as well
@@erod6214 it's not all about power and an inline 6 is preferable no matter how much power the V8 makes firstly, and secondly no one ever said that a Ford had a better interior than any other truck. Ever. Even the last generation Ram was better than
@@erod6214 and I'm pretty sure you didn't have them all at once so a five-year gap between models of truck is no comparison. Ram Interiors LeapFrog everyone at 2009 and to this day are still the nicest around says everyone
The whole thing about reaching further while hooking up and the tailgate being closer is maybe to do with the bed size
Both trucks have an 8 foot bed
I did not finish what I was going to day. The Ram front and rear fenders are are beautiful. They flow so so much better. Ted
Thanks for watching Ted! We appreciate your feedback
I like both. If I could get a new one, I'd take a Lariat or higher trim F450. That said I won't pay 6 figures for a truck. I drive a 21 Ford F350 STX dually crew cab with the 6.7. If I were to choose between yours and the 19 F450 I'd pick your RAM.
If you can't Dodge it, RAM IT!! I Love my 2017 Ram 3500 Dually!!
Both have there good and bad points to and thanks for sharing your experience.
If we were going to go pu route prob Ram/Dodge.
But HDT for us is the only way to go.
Now ya got the dog wagging the tail, not the other way around
And if ya go with a bunk you got a little back up.
Just saying,
Hi from the EMAHIZERs!!!!โ
If ram put electric folding up/down it another motor to go out. And you can see more with mirrors upside. I really like that rams looks ๐
We have the same Ram truck and the reason they pull better uphill is because the straight 6 diesel technology is better than a V8 diesel. Every freight truck on American highways use straight 6 diesel motors for just that reason.
I drove 2020 F350 DRW 6.7 Lariat for 60k miles and was waiting for 2023 F450 Limited for 11 months. With no end in sight, I jumped the ship and purchased 2023 Ram 3500 Limited DRW HO 6.7 , Aisin Trans, 4.1 Gear. I had full body Suntek PPF and Ceramic coating plus nano ceramic tint for interior including the windshield. I am overly surprised how good is Ram 3500 Limited. It has better interior, smoother with auto leveling kit, TPMS, Apple like keypad. Gas mileage is par with F450 Limited. Around 15.5 driving empty, But F350 DRW 6.7 was getting around 16.5 mpg. Tire will be cheaper on Ram 3500 than F450 Limited. It is not a fast truck, but fast enough. I agree with lady, yes, Ram ride is so much better and comfortable. I can drive few hours and my back doesn't hurt and leg is not cramping up. I do not tow, but do haul some weight and this is my daily vehicle. I will take the Ram over Ford now but do miss 10 speed on gas mileage. I agree with the lady about not being able to see the front when in tight space on Ram.. I am 5'11" tall and it is very hard to see the front. On Ram, I usually have to wait before taking a chance on a tight spot. I do not miss the keyless entry which I have never used on my past Ford and I would rather not have the power mirror down on my Ram. It is one less thing to break down.
Ram with the wide track front axle would be perfect
Ram 4500 has the wide track axle. So if they were comparing 4500 to F450...it would be apples to apples. Both are great trucks for sure.
I have a 2020 F450 Limited w/10 speed trans and 1050 lbs of torque. Our seats are the most comfortable of any seats weโve had in any vehicle weโve owned. Tows like a dream. So many of details you mentioned depends on year model and pkgs. There are pros or cons with tires on the F450 as there are 19.5โ commercial tires which ride a bit rougher and limited chooses. The turning radius is huge.
I've had both. I'd choose the Ford F450 any day with the HO 6.7 powerstroke
If you plan to pull a big and heavy fifth wheel the number on up grade or Order a new camper itโs a absolute up grade on the trailer you need to to electric over hydraulic with disc brakes will perform like no other it will stop as good as the truck stops itโs a must if you could test drive one will blow you away believe me itโs a must have upgrade !
After a great deal of deliberations it was a F350 Platinum dully in Black for us.
Which truck you choose is very subjective and thus totally down to personal requirements.
What year model was the Ford?
Ram for the win!! I did alot of research when it came to a tow vehicle. I use to say bow tie all the way but for towing a big rig like our 399th ram takes it. Excited you guys got Shrek back. See you in Florida. Switch it Up!!
Please confirm that your Ram 3500 is a short bed? If you had to do it over, would you go with long bed?
We have the long bed & would not recommend a short bed at all due to the RV hitting the cab on tight turns
Why would you ever put the side mirrors down?
I guess for the same reason we don't always have our F450 mirrors fully extended when we're not towing?
Because they look silly driving down the road with their ears sticking out (when not towing).
How long did it take to get your Ram out of the shop
Well once they had parts it was just a couple days - but waiting on the parts was like a 6 week process
Love my Ram 3500
Love my 2022 RAMโฆ. C4YTโฆ
You're talking about a 6.7 diesel V8 on the Ford vs a 6.7 diesel I6 which means the cylinders on the ram are bigger and it's going to be felt when towing. Also better MPG
Thank you! We could not figure out why we could feel the difference when towing.
