Moped Carb Upgrade!! (HUGE POWER INCREASE)

- Today I upgraded my 70cc Puch Maxi carburetor from a 14mm stock carb to a 19mm Dellorto carburetor. This along with some suspension upgrades and throttle upgrades have turned this moped into a complete STUNT MACHINE!! I can not wait to get wayy better at riding this bike this season.

I custom built a mini bike using a predator 212cc. I have no suspension lol the only springs are under the seat. Its a rat bike made from spare parts and stuff off Amazon.

In Switzerland almost every 14 year old has a moped and like 80 or 90% of them are tuned

I had a puch maxi in 1987 when I was 16 years old ,after half a year I changed everything what you did ,70cc carburator exhaust and it had a top speed of 110 km per hour and won a lot of races against tuned Honda mt50 bikes that where popular at that time.Nice to see that they still exist.
With a 70ccm, 21mm carb, tune-up exhaust, clutch and filter you need a super high gearing to reach 110 km/h… which makes it crazy slow from 0-20 km/h, to the point you need to run it up to speed.

I chopped up onions a little out of nostalgia for when I was a kid and fooling around with mopeds: it's extremely nice seeing brands that I used to look up to still kicking around and across the ocean!
You should get a frame support for the maxi. They are known to snap when doing wheelies!
I know some people that abuse them and havent had them break. I know its possible tho hopefully mine holds out

Wow, talk about blast from the past! ❤ We (young teenagers with acne) used to tune our mopeds back in the early 90's. I had a Mustang Mamba with a 70cc Zündapp engine and a Dellorto 20mm carburetor. It made so much power that the whole frame cracked. It was like riding a motocross bike. 😄

I got the exact same mods on my 78 Puch newport that you have on your Maxi. BMX pegs, same rear shocks/springs, same 70cc kit, 18mm phbg, proma pipe, 1/4 turn throttle and yes it is also a dank wheelie machine. I can personally verify that your setup really woke up the bike and is a fun ripper fosho 😎

When you buy off market carburetors it usually doesn't come with stock jetting it mostly has like a 15 number increase to the standard carburetor jet..

Cool that you're in the cincy area running mopeds! I have a 1979 Motobecane Mobylette that I've thrown a 74cc kit, 15 sha dellorto, doppler pipe, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's torn apart right now since I'm upgrading the crank and changing the bearings. I'm over in the Milford area, if I ever see you on the puch, I'll fly ya down!!
Dude, you're bringing back memories, and I never thought in a million years that the 50cc Mopeds would become a religion 40 years later. I saw a Honda scooter at Safeway today (A West Coast grocery chain like Kroger) and I thought of your video and was drooling. I ride huge muscle cruisers, but for around town it makes little sense. This on the other hand, not only makes sense, but you immediately have a group of friends you haven't met, yet.

this is a nice upgrade over the stock engine but in Holland we put 70cc tune that cilinder and put a hpi ignition on it that will realy let him fly

Small tip on maxi's. There are multiple factory clutch spring options and if I recall correctly some clutches allow you to adjust the rpm it grabs.
i just got into mopeds myself i managed to get my hands on a pretty rare yellow 2005 targa LX for 800 cad it was alil clapped out when i bought it also ran without a filter carb needed cleaning had to get stuff like the dashboard front fairing headlight signals thing did 55 kmh when i 1st got it put one of those tecno Estoril exhausts on it with a 60 jet upgrade to the stock 14 dellorto carb now it does 72 KMH! (near 50 mph) getting the thing repainted in the older yellow V1 wich is more of a orangy sporty color original reproduction checkered flag tomos decals getting a 70cc upgrade for it soon its going to be a near 60 mph monster when im done with it. If you ever wanted your puch to go faster find a 2 speed motor it was an option for the puch maxi wich is weird finding tomoses are 2 speed without option good content keep it up dont forget about mopeds!
In Italy we have the Piaggio Ciao. And in Italy there is an incredible culture around this moped. It’s incredible of how many Ciao there are in Italy...
I drive a Gilera Citta. Ciao (and to a lesser extent, citta) are very popular in the Netherlands

We all had Puch mopeds you have brought the good mems back that thought were gone a great video and a good bike .I went to get a Jps version but were sold out, but a yellow Puch fan cooled we all tuned the get the restricted taken off fan cooled they were the first bike I would love to go back to them days I could carry a pillion and no l plates I had a car license so I was good times passed my bike test but still used the yellow Puch moped

The peugeot and mobylette brand mopeds can be fitted with malossi engine and parts, and can accelerate nonstop given enough road as they arent limited by gear speeds, may take engine mods. They race them at our local track and ive seen one do like 70mph with tons more speed left.

Great to see puch is getting big al over the planet. My own puch is tuned to the max (engine matched to cilinder etc) it runs over the 100 km/h or 62 mph and its to much fun😁 hope to see you'll max out your puch aswell🤑

don't worry about the big end so mutch ;) the rear swing bar will bend in original maxi's pretty bad under lots of power ;)

Man i watched one video and im hooked lol. Im currently building my own 2 stroke motorized bicycle and im trying to hit 65 mph on it but i cant get past 40 to 45 at the moment. Any reconmendations on a 2 or 4 stroke engines that i can get a little bit more power out of. I think i maxed-out the engine i have before it becomes unreliable.
My Puch was my very first bike way back in 1987. RIP Blue Bullet!

Italy is literally the moped country, everywhere you go you'll Se a modified 50cc that go as fast as a 125cc. I really like them because they're fun to drive and are easy to modify, but I'm waiting for the 125cc...
