  • Having trouble getting your moped to make spark? Well so was I, and being as desperate to ride it as I was I decided to install a completely new CDI ignition system! On top of making very strong spark and powering bright LED lights, the Power Dynamo CDI that I installed completely changed the throttle response of the bike. It is so much smoother and responsive than it was with the stock ignition. If you want a nice upgrade for your moped, here is a great one!!!
    Hope you enjoy the video!!! If you did feel free to Like, Comment, and SUBSCRIBE!! I'm working hard on perfecting my videos and posting more often so Subscribe to see more!!! Thank you all for the support I love you!!! #JWAY

    Now that the bike is perfect basically, i would recommend you getting something that keeps the frame strong. A puch maxi frame can begin to bend because of the heavy modification on the engine.
    There are these things called EBR frame amplifiers that you mount in between the seat and the front fork. They should most likely keep it straight.

    Here is what the condensor does.
    The stator charges the condensor, then the points complete the circuit from condensor to the coil.
    The condensor then discharges into the coil and the coil converts the voltage to a higher voltage en discharges true the spark plug thus making it spark.
    the cdi you replaced it with (Condensor Discharge Ignition) is basicly the same thing but without the points and uses a pickup to send a signal to the cdi to make the condensor discharge.
    Inside the cdi box there is a condensor.
    Because a cdi doesn't need the points because of the pickup that it is replaced with, there is less wear and a faster response from condensor to coil.

    • @KelikakuCoutin
      @KelikakuCoutin Před 6 měsíci

      Capacitor/Capacitive Discharge Ignition (CDI) although a condenser is another name for capacitor. It's normally just called "electronic ignition" and the original (old fashioned) ignition is called "breaker point ignition."
      The condenser keeps the breaker points from sparking more than necessary, it absorbs the extra spark (called "arcing" which is pronounced "ARKING"). Electronic ignition takes the place of the points and condenser.

    We (Dutch) do mount foot rest on the pedel shaft, and push start the moped. I would not bother the Kickstart pull start stuff. The upgraded clutches would be my next step. If you used the small inner rotor ignition would probably smoke the stock clutch.

    In my experience, the most common cause of problems in these ignitions is the contact points. If they lose contact, it manifests pretty much the same as you described. Just cleaning them up with some sandpaper would've probably fixed the issue. But since you can use the benefits of a lighter rotor, I can see why you've gone for the new ignition.

      @@TwoStrokeJ Oh, I thought it was weird you wouldn't check those first. In that case, I have no idea what could have been the issue but I guess that doesn't matter anymore. If I can suggest something, try using stiffer springs (at least the blue ones) in the clutch or just tightening the current ones as some other people have mentioned. This way the clutch will grab at higher revs where the engine has more power and this will improve acceleration. Just be careful not to overtighten them, the springs need some space to work. Other than that, your bike is pretty solid!

    Thank you for the interesting video. If there is no spark, first clean the points with some sandpaper and degrease with acetone. If that doesn't work, test the condenser which is usually the culprit. Rather than going to the trouble and expense of installing a rocker switch to replace the kill switch, you could have simply shorted the wires and tested that way. CDIs really make life simple. Just installed one on a 1966 Honda C65 Super Cub and what a difference.

    I don't think the spark was your cdi usually first you try new ignition coil if that doesn't help then u try stator if none of those doesn't work then cdi but yeh and the throttle respone is because you got new fly wheel and stator
