This offseason alone Miami lost out on Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, Darius Saric, Christian Wood, Kelly Oubre, Max Struss, Gabe Vincent and they also had to salary dump Victor Oladipo.
Off-season is not over they save some cash from Vincent and Struss and they add Thomas and JRich they will be agressively adding some key pieces now that Dame talks are done. And they keep Herro that will solidify his game even more this season. The Heat went to the finals without even the 20 pts scoring of Tyler and I think Caleb will have a breakout season average 18 ppg. I had a CZcams fight with a Miami fan a couple of months back (I’m a European Bucks fan). It was after they lost to the Nuggets and I was telling him how this Heat team overachieved so much but he denied it. He thought it was normal for a team to go from 32%/33% in 3s in the regular season to almost 50% in the playoffs (right before the finals). While shooting high volume. He thought it was normal for a play-in team to upset the No1 team. He thought it was normal for undrafted guys to play at an all star level until they won the East.
And now they wouldn’t even include Caleb Martin along Herro, an *undrafted* player so they could get a bona fire superstar.
It’s their entire organization and fan base thinking like that, it’s not just Pat Riley. I hope they disintegrate this year.
Not only all of that, but they barely squeaked by in the play in. They just got hot at the right time. The Celtics almost came back from 3-0 without a HC and no resemblance of an offense 😆
Sir! The Heat has been in the finals 2 of 4 years... They not overachievers, they handworker's! but they need another piece... Dame would have made them the favorites because Boston will underachieve again, and the Bucks would have underachieved.
@@ericdarden1255 2 out of 4 years when nobody expected them to. The second time they were insanely lucky that everything clicked for a month and then it was back to factory settings. They don't just "need a piece" they need another star. The fact that they wouldn't give up Caleb Martin alongside Herro says they know they were super lucky an undrafted player performed in that level and this can't happen always. No team should feel obligated to send a player under contract to the team of their choice. It puts the team in an impossible position where the team knows they can lowball you and still get what they want. I like him as a player and fellow Bay Area native but I’m sick of it. Don’t sign contracts if you have no intention in fulfilling them. This phenomenon will eventually backfire and future players will be the ones to suffer.
No obligation to trade a player to their preferred destination, especially if doing so comes with a lesser than deal in a trade. But I don’t think it’s a bad thing if a team tries to make something work for a player who’s done right with the organization up that point of the compensation is at or around the best you can obtain. I could get with a team making taking a slightly lesser than option for a player they’re doing right by but definitely not a good move to take a bad deal just to appease somebody.
It's about to be a problem..lol😅 Dame just needs to stay healthy and play basketball and let everything fall in place.
Hope they can orchestrate this team to compete amongst the top teams. By the middle of the season.
People forget that 4 of the starting 5 from that championship team made the all stars in 2006 so it’s not like they were average players
Pat Riley knows a few things about being a GM. Miami didn’t want to do what the Mavs did and trade away a good team for one player. What good is having Dame if the team is terrible after you trade away too much?
Mavs traded 1 player named Finney Smith who averages 2 ppg. Miami drafts 2nd rounders and also undrafted players that average 15-20 every season even their rookie years..

There are certain teams whose decisions I don’t criticize until it is proven that it doesn’t work out:
1. Miami
2. San Antonio
3. OKC
(Boston, honorable mention)
That’s the list. I will not go in on Pat Riley the basketball godfather for showing discipline and not overpaying (in his estimation) for Dame.
It is possible that the presence of the third team, the suns, moving Ayton- that was new information that nobody, even including Milwaukee knew about.
A soldier goes to war with the intelligence he has- if things change suddenly… you look bad. 👎
, they are finished.
2 out of those 3 teams have never won a championship without a bonafide superstar player
@@Watchingvideoslikeu correct, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t trust them to make the best move possible to optimize their chances of winning. Jimmy Butler in the postseason is as much a superstar as any. They definitely need another go-to scoring option if/when he gets exhausted or injured (because it always happens). The “bonafide superstar” theory is a little bit of a misnomer. If you have a clear leading scorer and he wins a championship does that not make him “superstar” anyway. Do we crown too many “auperstars” in the reg. season who are impressive when the teams are bad and the defense quality is abysmal?
Dame is a great shooter, defensive liability b/c of his size and a closer- the Heat don’t have great size to match up with a team like Boston who suddenly features a guy so tall he lives in his own area code (KP) I’m not saying I wouldn’t do a Lillard trade, but if you do- you have got to have the ability to “beef” up the front court, and I don’t think adding more assets to the pot for Dame would assist in that.
When OKC traded Harden for Kevin Martin we all knew immediately it was a terrible deal. They dont have that kind of rep.
@@WatchingvideoslikeuAll 3 have never won without a superstar including San Antonio
The 04 pistons are the best team I can think of that won without a major star player, not only did they win but they handled a stacked lakers roster, and I say that as a life long lakers fan, only time I’ve ever seen the “little engine that could” team beat the juggernaut, and they didn’t just beat them, they spanked em
They had 5 All Stars. Rasheed had the talent of a superstar but never cared enough - he could have been remembered as one of the all time greats. The only reason they won was because Wallace was a mid season trade - he did his best to fit in.
People like to prop up the Heat and their run to the Finals but they fail to mention they finished 2-7 in their last 9 playoff games including 0-4 at home. They couldn't afford to stand Pat (pun intended) if they wanted to win a championship and now they have played themselves. They'll be lucky to win a round in this upcoming season's playoffs.
How are you going to bash Pat Riley for not winning a chip without a superstar and then literally explain that there have only been two teams all time that have won without a superstar? Not sure what the point of saying that Pat Riley hasn’t won without great players
Milwaukee instead of Miami? Damien was measuring his swimsuit and now is measuring his ski cap. Now, baring injuries, the Bucks will win the east and likely a championship.

I do not get why people say 2004 Pistons did not have any "superstars" I always looked at Rasheed Wallace like a Superstar! He went head to head with The best PF's in his era from Duncan, KG, Webber and Dirk! He is part of that First Tier of PF's in that era! The way they treat R.Wallace is if he was Elton Brand or Lamarcus Aldrige. lol. Rasheed Wallace game was ahead of his time and he would be more valuable today. Do not have to take my word for it, ask Andre Iguodala!

Miami would've had to gut their team to get Dame at 33 years old. Jimmy is 34. So you don't have much time to rebuild after you've gutted the team. Micky Arison won't pay the luxury tax even when LeBron was there so you have to build a championship roster with low round or undrafted picks.
