It's not easy to win a championship in the NBA and the Heat got to the finals twice in four years. Dame going to the Bucks is just going to make the path that much more difficult. Why doesn't matter. I have been a Heat fan since their first season and it seems like I am the only one that is not upset about the Heat not getting Dame. Dame is a great player but people are acting like we missed out on Michael Jordan. The facts are, the Heat would have had to gut their roster in order to satisfy what Portland wanted. Dame is 33 years old on a huge contract that would have handcuffed the Heat for the next 4 years. Getting Dame would not have guaranteed a championship, yes it would have been nice but not for what Portland wanted from Miami. Portland never wanted to trade Dame to Miami because their GM let his ego get involved and did not want to feel like he was forced to do what Dame wanted. Portland will still suck and the Bucks will be good but they lost depth, defense and got older. The Bucks were desperate and now will be in salary Cap hell for the next 4 years, having to pay heavy into the luxury tax. Miami did the right thing by not getting desperate, making a move that would have killed the franchise in the future. The Suns were the team that did the best in this trade. The Suns added depth and dumped a huge contract in Ayton. The Suns are the team that should be favored to win next year, not the Bucks. Lopez is old, Middleton is on the decline, Dame is 33.....Giannis is great but he can't shoot....The Heat will be fine, they are not built for the regular season, they are built for the playoffs. Also, Portland would have only traded Dame to the Heat if Miami would have given up Bam, that is the only player Portland wanted from Miami, not worth it. Portland was never going to make a real deal with Miami. Not trading the future for Dame will prove to be the right move in the long term. Miami will develop Jovic and Jamie, and Herro will continue to get better. Miami needs rebounding, not an aging point guard that does not play defense on a bad contract. Being good for a year or 2 is not worth sucking for 5 to 7 years.
I'm not as upset about Dame, as I am about Mitchell. I'm still salty about that. They had Donovan gift wrapped, but refused to give up Herro (allegedly) who is what Utah wanted. But then they turn around and dangle Herro for Dame? And the final thing I don't want to hear is about Jaquez and Jovic, stop it. No d-league players go on to be superstars (which Dame is) in the NBA. That only happens in 2K. Those two will be role players at best in this league. If Miami didn't offer them in the Dame deal, it was a huge oversight, and they deserve criticism for it.
Also, it's senile to say Milwaukee's chances at a title haven't increased. They are definitely the favorites to come out of the East now. No one else in the East got better. Miami got worse, Boston got worse, Philly is Philly. If Lopez stays healthy (which is a big if) they actually have the blueprint to do some damage against Denver if they come out of the West (which is another big if). Regardless, the East is almost decided with the duo of Dame and Giannis

I have been a Heat fan since their first season and it seems like I am the only one that is not upset about the Heat not getting Dame. Dame is a great player but people are acting like we missed out on Michael Jordan. The facts are, the Heat would have had to gut their roster in order to satisfy what Portland wanted. Dame is 33 years old on a huge contract that would have handcuffed the Heat for the next 4 years. Getting Dame would not have guaranteed a championship, yes it would have been nice but not for what Portland wanted from Miami. Portland never wanted to trade Dame to Miami because their GM let his ego get involved and did not want to feel like he was forced to do what Dame wanted. Portland will still suck and the Bucks will be good but they lost depth, defense and got older. The Bucks were desperate and now will be in salary Cap hell for the next 4 years, having to pay heavy into the luxury tax. Miami did the right thing by not getting desperate, making a move that would have killed the franchise in the future. The Suns were the team that did the best in this trade. The Suns added depth and dumped a huge contract in Ayton. The Suns are the team that should be favored to win next year, not the Bucks. Lopez is old, Middleton is on the decline, Dame is 33.....Giannis is great but he can't shoot....The Heat will be fine, they are not built for the regular season, they are built for the playoffs. Also, Portland would have only traded Dame to the Heat if Miami would have given up Bam, that is the only player Portland wanted from Miami, not worth it. Portland was never going to make a real deal with Miami. Not trading the future for Dame will prove to be the right move in the long term. Miami will develop Jovic and Jamie, and Herro will continue to get better. Miami needs rebounding, not an aging point guard that does not play defense on a bad contract. Being good for a year or 2 is not worth sucking for 5 to 7 years.

I'm not as upset about Dame, as I am about Mitchell. I'm still salty about that. They had Donovan gift wrapped, but refused to give up Herro (allegedly) who is what Utah wanted. But then they turn around and dangle Herro for Dame?
And the final thing I don't want to hear is about Jaquez and Jovic, stop it. No d-league players go on to be superstars (which Dame is) in the NBA. That only happens in 2K. Those two will be role players at best in this league. If Miami didn't offer them in the Dame deal, it was a huge oversight, and they deserve criticism for it.
Also, it's senile to say Milwaukee's chances at a title haven't increased. They are definitely the favorites to come out of the East now. No one else in the East got better. Miami got worse, Boston got worse, Philly is Philly.
If Lopez stays healthy (which is a big if) they actually have the blueprint to do some damage against Denver if they come out of the West (which is another big if).
Regardless, the East is almost decided with the duo of Dame and Giannis

The Bucks did not get better Defensively. Miami still has more 2 way defenders with Jimmy, Bam, Caleb, and Richardson. I wish Miami would have got him, but I'm glad Miami did not sell the farm.
