To do this job more thoroughly, you need to also take off the inlet manifold and clean it through with lots brake cleaner and clean out that black tar from the inlet ports.
oh I know this. I will also be cleaning the injectors once I have removed them. The weather has not been helpful regarding these jobs but they will be done.
Hi Hun,U mentioned a bit of chugging and smoke on startup.these are same as td4 Freelander engines.the glow plugs are also flame detectors.if U have an iffy glow plug,it will cause running issues.x
I thought if you blanked an EGR you would need to get ecu re mapped ? Will it throw up fault codes? How will it affect the MOT test. . . Interesting. 🙂 . When ever we blank an EGR at work, we have to tell people it is only Temporary to get them home/to a garage.
I watched Robson Rover Repair do this. No codes came up but I would like to get the injectors out and clean them. And I would like a remap. Not sure on the emisions but DMGRS sold it so it must be ok..... I hope. The car feels like it has more go in it though.
@CortinasAndClassics don't you have to have a special kit to fit injectors? (Again I'm only going off by what I'm taught at work) we have special "injector patrols" that have a special kit to do them.... ? 🥴
@@CortinasAndClassics i would go careful as they may be stuck in the head and need a slide hammer to remove? You may not get them to seal properly when putting them back.... i would leave well alone if possible and just try some cleaner in the fuel tank and some V power diesel.
I blanked the EGR valve on my 2006 Focus TDCi so engine gets nice fresh air all the time. Runs better than ever..more go in it as you say, but yes, flags up errors unless I mess with the computer. I don't really care too much about what comes out the back of it as long as it drives ok. It is generally well maintained and has always passed emissions test on MOT, but I have to remove the blank.
Egr recirculates filthy exhaust gasses back through the inlet.engines run far better with cooler fresher air.some cars accept a delete, but others will need remapping to unrecognise egr.
Magnetic tray from the pound shop for bolts etc 👍🇮🇪
Well done Simone, that is a good upgrade you have done.
Thanks! 😊
Chuck some injector cleaner in it Simone. Nice one good job i still have my EGR on but its blanked and mapped out.
Thanks, will do!
Nice Spannering Simone, hopefully it will settle down after an Italian tune up

I will look into this 👍🏻
In Ireland i believe they are now checking for egr delete 🙄 in the test centres. Anything you've done is reversible....
They check over here in Scotland too.
👍
Have you noticed any difference in performance yet.
Thanks for the great video 👍
I have yes, It pulls better.
Oh! Koni guts!
What difference does the EGR delete make?
That's what I am figuring out. It stops the inlet getting clogged like fat and our arteries. I was told It restores power and I hope it improves mpg.
@@CortinasAndClassics All good stuff then!
Why did anyone think it would be a good idea to blow dirty exhaust air back through the engine? Goes much better without.
@@simon.easton That's the next thing I've got don't on the ZS. 👍

@@Alexsassets I have to be honest Alex I have no idea. I keep putting it off incase I break something, and the injectors are not cheap.

I'd say you may have an injector issue, Common enough on those BMW engines.
That's next on the list of jobs :)
