I remember being there and struggling to do a job and having to make do with the tools you've got at the time but it helps you "Think outside the box" and you certainly learn more. surging engines on auto's are horrible and really spoil the car so well done!
Looks like you are another street spannerer? Great video, and good learning for me! I'm wondering if the hunting idle on my 260 is purely down to the MAF!
Am sorry am kinda missing in action my internet is rubbish just now Simone least you got it done it will hopefully sort you on av worked on a few of these engine's the Bmw M47. Done injectors to crank case breather filters on them. Freelander td4 engine is the Bmw m47 same as the rover 75. Also fitted to other vehicles. There not easy to work on so I take my hat of to you Freelander tends to be worse as I needed steps lol.😂😂
Don't run it without the air filter housing on if you can help it. It's designed to direct cool air to the filter, making the car more efficient. Otherwise, it will be drawing hot air from the engine bay, which is undesirable. I've seen on the forums that a duff MAF on the diesel can be bypassed by unplugging it. It's also worth cleaning it before considering replacement. I'd consider a new one from DMGRS rather than gamble on a used one. (But that's just me!) Another top video, how's the bike coming on? I replaced the sump on Nibbler the other day (part of an exhaust swap) and at the last minute found out the internal thread on the drain plug was stripped. These things are set to try us!
Thanks for watching, I would get a brand new one but the cost is prohibitive at the moment. Yeah that was not a great idea on my part to be honest but it is running much better now. I have also unplugged the fuel heater on the advice of Robson Rover Repair as it is also failing. I still need to get the engine back in the bike, that will happen soon. Yes I watched your video on Nibbler, personally I would go up a bolt size.
Thank you good video very detailed will do mine next . Seeing the sensor was same as land-rover reminded me of when i replaced the drivers central locking unit was also the same as the land rover ! Just hope mine goes just as well ?🙂
@@CortinasAndClassics put the sensor on and the car wouldn't start had to unplug it to get it started. Not sure if i went too cheap on the sensor at £18 !?
You could have just changed the sensor by the 2 torx bit screws either side of the connector housing, but you managed the job anyway, well done ! And after you get the sensor out of the housing they can usually be sprayed with a maf sensor cleaner which most of the time solves the problem.
I don't think I have ever been that careful making sure my car didn't move while testing it. You are the master of safety!
I try :)
Good work. I would definitely put a latex glove or something over the oil filler hole in case you drop a screw or dirt in the hole! 🙈

@@peteraudley5628 oh dear, yes they are usually much more expensive than that.

Thanks Cabby, I would have done but I don't have the torx with the hole.
