I feel foe you about your boy dying, lucky you could get a vet to come to your home. I was there at the vet, had to take sick hurting children then holding & kissing ALL my pets I had to put to sleep. I have their ashes I put in toy animals that looked like them. I have 2 of my dogs & 2 cats & need to start looking for a cat stuffed toy for my boy who is dying of kidney failure. I give him insulin daily & have lost sleep trying to keep up feeding him right & now give him fluids every other day thru tubes. Other 2-3 pets died from accidents not at home because they ran off got out when I was not home. I'm in my late 50's you go thru many pet children, happiness & heartache.

Smallville fan and no disrespect to the rest of the cast but these two carried the show the first few seasons. Loved their dynamic.
"Transference" is easily one of, if not the best Smallville episode. John Glover as Clark and Tom Welling as Lionel. Some of the best TV ever.
Body swapping episodes are interesting because you are seeing the actor portray another actor playing a different character, that's a lot of layers.
However, my favorite was still Farscape when the entire crew swapped twice.
It was verily well done to see the entire cast like that.
Another was later in the series they did something else that was similar
This episode showed what acting chops John and Tom have. They captured each other's character perfectly. John mimicked Clark's mannerisms so well.

How could anyone not love John Glover? He seems so warm, friendly and inviting.
I love John Glover. He's such an underrated actor. When this guy's on screen, he's got such a presence. And he's always so charming. No offence to Michael Rosenbaum or any other Smallville actors, but John has always been the best part of Smallville (and my favorite actor on the show).
John was a scene stealer for sure. When he was on you paid attention! John and Mike together and the stark contrast of Tom and John really made Smallville for so many years.

Lionel Luther, I don't think, was ever a character in the classic Superman comics (I used to collect them)
But ironically, he was the best character in a TV show based on Superman!
He was so deliciously villainous, he'd laugh and twirl his mustache when other characters accused of something or other

Chloe was the only unique non comic character, that was added to smallville canon because how much Chloe was loved.

Lionel and Lex are what made that show honestly. That and the pretty special effects you were on the edge of your seat anticipating each episode.
I only saw it originally when I was little so it âlooked goodâ to me, but Iâm guessing it was probably good special effects for the time(from adult perspective) and I wonder how much I would have been blown away by the effects if I was an adult at the time.. Must have been wild!!
I agree. They were my favorite characters and they were so brilliantly written and portrayed by Michael and John.

John Glover needs to write an autobiography. He's such an interesting man. The first thing I ever saw him in was an episode of "Miami Vice." I still recall that performance to this day! Bless you, Mr. Glover.

I remember seeing John Glover in the second Gremilins movie and have always enjoyed his performances. But his role as Lionel Luthor, for me, is his crowning achievement. He was brilliant as that character.
1- Let's be clear...that is an epic beard.
2- He hung out with Roddy McDowall AND Vincent Price.
3- He was in the greatest Gremlins.

First time seeing John speak outside of Smallville. He sounds so pleasant and somewhat soft-spoken. Lionel Luther was such transformative role for him, which speaks volumes of his acting ability.

I never heard of John Glover before watching Smallville, and he was, in my opinion, the most interesting, well acted character on the show.
I havenât seen John Glover in years. When I was at Towson University, Mr. Glover was in my play Theater class. He was so full of energy.
John's work on Law and Order Criminal Intent was fantastic!
John and Michael had such great on screen chemistry. Yes the father son dynamic was not one we all wanted but it was to show Lexs past and what forged him to be so cold and hateful. But its great to see that they have maintained their friendship since the shows ending
I just love Rosenbaum. He's just genuine and funny and such a great interviewer. You forget it's a podcast, it's just like being in a room or something with these two. John Glover is an absolute GOAT. It makes me so sad that he had to hide who he was growing up and in his younger years and he's such a treasure, he's such a gift of a human being. John had magnificent hair in the show. I managed to recently convince my 84 year old dad to watch smallville and he was generally upset when his character died. He said what a great actor
Sry to hear! My dog was 9 and had bone cancer and it was the hardest goodbye ever. We went to the vets so leaving without her was the worst but she's on the rainbow bridge now. Even now, 4 years later, i still miss her.

Seeing these two guys who played a father and son that had a really difficult relationship in "Smallville" being so nice to each other and obviously enjoying each other's company honestly gave me a feeling of closure I didn't even know I needed.

Anytime John was in a scene on Smallville, I was riveted! You didn't know if you should trust him or not. He had a way of delivering some of the most philosophical lines in a way that made you go and look up what Lionel was referencing. And that season where he was in the glass prison was so intimidating in all his interactions with all the other characters! Thank-you for recording and posting this episode. He's also a magnificent audiobook narrator. The rich vocalization the great acting. I went from reading Stephen king which john glover narrated some material written by Stephen king to just reading whatever john glover narrates that sounds interesting to hear. Great actor, great narrator
This was one of my favorite episodes yet. That's largely due to John's presence, delivery, stories... all of it. What a legend. But it's also thanks to what he brings out of you. Your eyes shine when you're talking to him. All pretense and posturing vanish. Do you know what I mean? You're relaxed and yourself in every episode, but we always have some degree of performance in our daily life. With John, I saw that melt away. Like a true friend, someone you really look up to, your television father... It's a gorgeous chemistry.

My favorite Smallville episodes were the one's where John Glover and Michael Rosenbaum interacted with each other. The 2 of them brought those characters to life and did so convincingly. Such a great interview, you can really tell that you two still have that great connection. I would dump stupid amounts of money to watch another project with these gentlemen.
