The mane, the myth, and the legend John Glover, aka Lionel Luthor, joins Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as we officially wrap up our rewatch of Season 1 of Smallville and the finale episode Tempest. It was a treat talking to Glover. He remembered what it was like going from a guest star to a regular, how deep the theme of family was in the show, and his true opinion on the character of Lionel Luthor. Mr Glover is born to play Lionel.
I can't imagine anyone else playing Lionel Luthor.
He was born to play that role. Fits him like a glove.

One of the best decisions that team did was surround the younger cast with true established vets of the craft...it really shows by the time they are phased out that Michael, Tom and everybody stepped their chops up big time.
He was one of the best characters on the show!

I was really impressed by John Glovers performance as Lionel Luthor. He was a great foil for Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor.

Johns interpretation of Lionel was legendary! The whole lex and Lionel dynamic was off the charts and for me made the entire show!

I haven't watched Smallville in nearly two decades (though I enjoyed it a lot when I was 12-13 years old). I was thinking about John Glover randomly and stumbled upon this on youtube by accident. I didn't realize it was Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum interviewing John until like two minutes in! (To be fair, I was alt-tabbed and doing other things at the same time). Crazy to me!

I wonder if Netflix could make a category like "John Glover episodes" I'm reading his IMDB credits and it goes back to 1973 and it would be wild to just be able to go through his appearances one by one from start to present day. I had a great time watching him on "Brimstone" where he played the Devil.
John is an exceptional actor, he bursts the screen during all the scenes as Lionel Luthor ♥️ as well as Michael who is a fascinating Lex Luthor at his side 💙 And he has a great humor 😄

John was so brilliant with his performance and I was blow the second season was incredible with Michael as well. I felt how the relationship between the two of them evolved through the seasons. great choice of casting ever
No way, guess things truly works out in the end because I can't imagine anyone else playing Lionel Luthor. My cousin named her twins Lex and Lionel both of them share a second name of Luthor. She was young so don't judge her but she totally named them after you two and her husband was happy with it too.
Hey James Gunn! Why don't you just take Rosembaum as Lex again?
That would be AMAZING, but I doubt Gunn would do it. Oh well, at least we have the animated series to look forward to.
