John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville) joins this week to open up on the success heâs had in Hollywood over the last several decades through the idea of expecting greatness in oneâs self, rather than anticipating failure. John also explores the differences between oneâs ego and destiny, while sharing how he has lacked nervousness through the strength of his own optimism and ignorance. We talk about his wifeâs battle with cancer, Johnâs experience on Smallville and Dukes, and also how he was able to transform from the âfat kidâ into a Hollywood success story.
JOHN SCHNEIDER (2020) | Inside of You Podcast w/ Michael Rosenbaum #anxiety #insideofyou - ZĂĄbava
Been a HUGE Schneider fan for years. Looking forward to getting to know him on a personal levelđ. Thanks Rosey for all the kindness and respect you display toward your listeners by booking such an amazing panel of guests. The podcast gets better every weekâ€ïž.
You bet!
@@InsideOfYouPodcast great show and so sorry about your dog man. Keep saying.prayers micheal and know a healing will happen
Love John. What a good dude. They should film the next Friday the 13th at Johns ranch. Just an idea
@@InsideOfYouPodcast For a minute there toward the end of your segment, I got the feels when a bit of Jonathan Kent was shining through John Schneider when he was talking about hardships and never letting it get you down. You guys are awesome and what a great interview.
@@InsideOfYouPodcast John Schneider looks exactly the same 10 years ago when I watched Smallville. This man has found the fountain of YOUTH!!!
Schneider's portrayal of Johnathan Kent was part of the heart and soul of the series. When he left the series, it was hard to see him go because the advice his character gave was so heartfelt, he felt like your dad. I've been a fan of his since Dukes of Hazzard
The Kents were a big reason why Clark became the hero he would become. One great moment was when Clark was under the affects of Red Kryptonite and Johnathan makes a deal with Jor-El to temporarily get powers and he confronts Clark and says, "Son, you're coming home with me".
@@vanmoody oh I agree and I love that episode. And when Clark takes down Johnathan but he gets up like nothing happened... You could tell he knew Jorel was involved in this. Martha also was a key component. Reminding Johnathan that Clark was learning and going to make mistakes but there was still a line to what was acceptable
agreed but also he was right when he said smallville scripts were sometimes dogsh*t
I'm extremely happy that John accepted the role in Smallville because his Jonathan Kent was my absolute favourite character after your Lex, Michael. Much thanks to the two of you, but also to Tom, Allison and Kristin, I regard Smallville as the best TV series of all time and watching it, currently for the third time and this time with my girlfriend, has been and is one of the great experiences of my life, it has enriched my life enormously.
I am 68 and remember watching it with my 18 year old son evey week. I even have all ten dvd sets of each season. Currently on season 5 of Smallville. Trying to get ready for Jonathan Kent's death..boo hoo. Loved all the actors on that series..they were perfect!
Clark was my favorite character because he had the super powers. I wouldn't say he was the best actor, but he pulled Clark off good I think. He looked the part unlike a lot of the Supermen they use in movies and shows where the guy isn't even that strong looking.
"There is one other guest on Smallville that I couldn't get."
Yeah, I guess they don't allow Zoom session in prison.
Watch Dawsonâs Creek..
@@bluewaters3100 I've always cried in season 5 watching Jonathan's death and funeral
He IS Jonathan Kent. So full of wisdom and inspirational.
It almost impossible to compete with Pa Kent. Heâs had the most screen time to flesh out the character.
The CW is doing the multiverse thing so unless they already killed off there Pa Kent in the Arrowverse maybe he can play the role again in Superman and Lois.
I think John might have been influenced by Denver Pyle when they worked together on Dukes Of Hazzard.
Heâs the sexy, young version, but heâs such a great actor, he made the part his own!
John was one of the best parts of Smallville. Excellently written father figure. I hope your dogs make a full recovery.
I couldn't deal with my father issues after he died u.u
Dukes of hazzard and smallville 2 best shows ever made.
I'm glad your dog is doing better.
appreciate it
John seems like a genuinely nice fella without trying one bit.
John literally looks like heâs in front of the Kent house. My first, comic con was in 2016 when I was walking around the con, my brother was so excited he ran up to me he said John Schneider is here and heâs really nice, and he told him how sad when J.K died in season 6 . He took a picture with my brother.
My lil brother was so happy we were the biggest fans of Smallville . Then I had the opportunity to meet John Schneider and I showed him pictures of myself on set. I was in Batman V superman he said that was really cool and he gave me some Acting advice, And took a picture with me. He was so humble. Inside of you is my favorite podcast thank you so much Michael!
Jonathan Kent died in season 5, not 6.
John was my favorite part of smallville!
Mr. John Schneider has become a favorite son to Southern Louisiana and especially the greater Baton Rouge area. An old beloved movie theater was being torn down. It couldn't be stopped. But, John saved the marquee from being destroyed and brought it to his ranch. Grateful to think of him as an extended neighbor and a member of our community.
I love clicking on a podcast and seeing ZERO thumbs down. Everyone loves John
I was a new dad when Smallville premiered. Already a fan of John Schneider and The Man of Steel, I connected with Jonathan Kent's character more than the others because the fatherly perspective was more applicable and new to me. It's still my favorite series to this day. So glad you finally had him on your show. Even more glad to know he is actually the down to earth and great guy I always assumed he was. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Same thing with me as a father
My mom is a breast cancer survivor and my husband is also a cancer survivor so John talking about his wife's cancer really really hit me. What a great interview, as always! đ€
"don't deny yourself panic. don't deny yourself grief." what a message. great conversation
Finders keepers. Some maybe didn't noticed
Lex Luthor and Jonathan Kent â€ïž
I've been waiting for this episode!! So happy you got John Schneider on the podcast. Absolutely loved him in Smallville. Can't wait to hear what stories he will share. Thank you for always getting the best guests Rosey â€ïž
"Inside of You" is the best podcast. Period.
Happy Tuesday ^_^ đ
best guests for the best community :)
President vs President
I thought he was old on Smallville but he started younger than me. So glad they both came back for the final episode. Heâs so positive
Yay ! After all these years later, Lex Luthor and Mr. Kent are FINALLY getting along lol great episode as always Michael. Glad to hear your dog's ok and hope hope for the very best for you both. đ
John isn't wrong in saying SMALLVILLE would be embedded in the minds of a generation watching Superman. It's what made us fans for life.
This has been the best shirtless podcast ever Michael lol
"The light at the end of the tunnel is attached to a train."
Sorry, John, I'm stealing that. That line was too good!
Yeah, I've paused after that part to check the comments. What a great line!
John was a hero of mine growing up. Definitely not disappointed. He reminds me of my dad. Very positive, very strong. Great role model, thanx for bringing us this interview đđđ
Wtf the last thing he said was exactly what I needed to hear and I cannot stop crying.
I full out ugly cried!
I used to watch Dukes of Hazzard as a kid and Bo Duke was always my absolute favorite. I was so excited to see this!!! It is always nice to hear him talk!
Just a good ol boy....never meaning no harm. Ahh the good ol days of nostalgia. *FUN FACT* Tom Wopat, the guy who played Luke was in an episode of Smallville AND....in season 1 like episode 8 or 9 or something like that Jonathan's driving his pick up truck and the instrumental is playing on the radio. So cool!
@@cdoubler1697 I remember that. I used to watch Smallville with my friends and when that episode came on I lost my shit because I wasn't ready for it.
John is one confident dude. Congrats on the success of the podcast.
John plays the best TV dads, been watching him on TV since I was a kid, close to 30 now and he's still a great tv dad.
Glad to hear your dog got better, Rosey. We had to put our dog to sleep when I was in high school and it just wrecked me. He was part of our family for my entire life so I can imagine the kind of stuff you were feeling man. Stay strong, nothing but love
Iâve been going through a lot of problems lately healthwise, mental health wise, I fell asleep last night listening to this interview, his calming voice his demeanour everything about John Schneider is a gift from God
Just listening to your voices takes me back to when I was in middle school and Smallville came out and the escape from all the terrible bullying and overwhelming suckiness the show provided. Thanks for doing this, you really gave me more than you than realize
I donât often tear up at tv series or movies but his death in smallville was a massive tear up for me I felt so attached to his character.
This has definitely been a long time coming! Looking forward to watching!!
More to come!
It is important to talk about grief. Grief is the most confusing emotion to go through. X
Wow! John's final words ring so true. Wise man and has the scars to show it. All the best to him and Michael keep up the great work. You deserve all the accolades.
Another great episode, especially for a Smallville fan like myself. Appreciated John being open about some of his life struggles between the divorce, flooding at his home in Louisiana, and his wife's cancer diagnosis. The guy definitely tells it like it is, and doesn't need a shirt to tell it. Keep up the great work, Rosenbaum!
Definitely excited for this one! A long time coming for this interview huh? Iâll check it out in a bit. â€ïž
you know it :)
The Dukes of Hazzard is in the house yes!!!!!. I believe he also voiced Rick O' Connor in the short lived The Mummy animated series for Kids WB which was nice. The Dukes of Hazzard reunion in Smallville season 5 with Tom Wopat was so good because Nostalgia 80's came back. I hope you get a chance to interview Sam Jones III for your next episode. I will say the season 5 arc with Jonathan Kent was a huge turning point and the sacrifice was so powerful and felt very much like Glen Ford's Jonathan Kent from Superman: The Movie.
Smallville not only gave us the on screen relationships
We have a whole real world Amazing chemistry between the cast members that is equally maybe even more entertaining
I lost my mind when Tom Wolpat was in one of the episodes. As soon as I saw that car coming down the road and fishtailing, I started jumping up and down, totally geeking out. I still love cameos in the CW shows.
I got to meet John Schneider at Comic Con and it was during the time he was having troubles with the flood, he was one of the kindest people who I have ever met and despite his circumstance he was awesome. We actually got to talk for a few minutes and to me that was awesome.
Jonathan Kent and Lex Luther back together like old times I love this podcast Michael has good guests god bless you Michael
200 episode Johnathan Kent said âWorks keeps a man honest.â When I go to work I always put 100% in. I always been a fan of Johnathan kent character but I am now a fan John.
Same here keeping honest since I graduated from high schools in 1983 and staying true to yourself. not believe anything what bad might happen only believed that something will be good happened to you as well as me .
John your the reason I started watching smallville, Iâm glad you accepted the part! Loved your interview with Michael, And sharing a part of your life.
Smallville was a big part of our lives. The kids and I would sit down every week and watch Smallville. I also appreciate all the cast of Smallville, and all the hard work that everyone put in, to make an amazing show that the kids and I will always remember.
Woooow. I like him so much. đđ Great choice!!! Thank you, Rosey!
You're welcome đ
John Schneider was the best Jonathan Kent in Smallville. He was the best dad to give great advice to his son and to teach him about life in Smallville.
Just found this and his wife has since passed away đą. Iâm praying for him everyday how sad. Hopefully he will find his happiness again. Such a good guy. â€
Oh wow! Going through some challenging times at the moment, and John's last piece of advice to stick it through seemed to be directed straight at me. Thank you both so much! You rock!
I enjoyed this episode. I have been a big John Schneider fan for a long time. He was the reason why I started watching Smallville and thus becoming a fan of yours. John has so many insights.
WOW ... the amount of Johnathan Kent wisdom that pour out from John Schneider is amazing !!
everything i heard him say in the podcast i could see him telling Clark on the farm while building the fence or working in the barn!!!!
This is probably one of your best interviews. John really opened up and got real and there was so much I didnât know about him. I hope you can get him back because this man has been through a lot and thereâs a lot that can be learned through his experiences.
What a great guy, ngl I wasnt expecting to enjoy this so much.
Overcoming adversity is a sign of a life well-lived. Excellent interview!
Met John Schneider and he was better than nice and took the time to chat and answer all my questions
This was such a powerful episode. This one really affected me
Iâm so sorry that your pup was struggling so much - they become a member of our family and itâs so heartbreaking to see them suffer. I am so glad he is doing better and sending lots of love to you and wishes for many more years with your loyal companion â€ïžâ€ïž
Really glad for this interview. Dukes was my childhood and Smallville was my adulthood. Perfect roles for an amazing man!
I've been in a bad way for awhile battling depression and money problems and I thank God everyday for my pup Mila. She's my best friend and has got me through some dark times. My other girl Roxy passed away awhile back and I was lost. My prayers go out to you and your family. I legitimately am glad your best friend is doing better.
I have 6 rescue dogs. Three are blind. Several months ago my dog Zu Zu screamed as though someone was killing her in our house. She was limp in her bed and her tongue was starting to reveal itself. ( I knew Zu Zu had cancer.) We rushed Zu Zu to the dog E.R. in Washington County, Tx . I was in the back seat doing canine CPR for about 10 minutes before our arrival. The doctor did everything he could. Zu Zu had an internal bleed due to a cist that exploded. There was no way to save her, but she died in our house with her family and the other (dogs and cats.) I cried very hard for a few days and can still cry --if I think about the event. In this moment, I knew exactly what Michael Rosembaum meant and felt. I have met Michael Rosenbaum 2 times and have enjoyed meeting him. I know him better after hearing his story and living 2 thousand miles away.
Schneider vrooming thru.
Even after all these years, never forgot his Dukes fans.
Another great interview, Mr. Schneider is awesome, it's no wonder he was chosen for Jonathan Kent role, he's really a great actor, reminds of Denzel Washington, very underrated actor. Love his confidence, good hearing about him
Iâve got an old partially paralyzed dog and an old blind one - Iâm always shocked how many people think you should put them down just cause theyâre old and much harder to take care of - people who think dogs gotta go just cause theyâre old should NEVER own dogs - I hope you dogs with you for many years.
FANTASTIC..THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU
So glad to see John on this podcast. Thanx for having this discussion.....such a great guy.
Hey joe I've been a fan of John for years. From dukes to smallville and the have and have nots. Another great guestđđ
Wow, Jonathan Kent! I love him!
John Schneider needs to voice Superman in an animated project one day. His voice is perfect for it.
Man it was such a sad moment when he died on Smallville,It felt like my actually father had died.It was such a GREAT MOMENT when He returned for Clark's wedding,He will always be my favorite Jonathan Kent, with Kevin Costner right behind him,and Glen Ford rounding out my top 3...
John really played Jonathan Kent perfectly. Stern at times steadfast and always loving. Exactly how I expected the man that raised Superman to be
"You're here to do something good for someone else" Still the father figure like he was in Smallville - he was the main reason I gravitated to Smallville when I was 11 years old till I was about 15. I looked for a father figure at that time. Such a good podcast. Thank you Michael!
"There is one other guest on Smallville that I couldn't get."
Yeah, I guess they don't allow Zoom session in prison.
Too Soon xD
@@aleksandarradovanovic8496 How long is her sentence, by the way?
@@timrob12 I had to look it up and discovered she hasn't been sentenced yet! It was postponed last September (2019) to "grant sufficient time to conduct pre-sentencing investigations" and then has been delayed further because of the pandemic etc. It may be a while . . . . .
@@JohnLRice Alright, Michael! Get that interview going while you still can!
Completely up to him of course, not forcing anything.
@@timrob12 My first thought was if they agreed to totally avoid discussing the issues of the NXIVM organization, arrests, trial, etc they could do it but I would think that even if she wanted to her lawyers wouldn't let her because they wouldn't want to take a chance on the interview negatively affecting her sentencing? (she's potentially looking at two 20 year sentences). The slightest positive comment, laugh, or even smile might be used to say she isn't remorseful or whatever and they could give her maximum sentences. It's too bad this is real life and not Smallville . . . Clark, Lois, Oliver and even Lex could step in and prove it was actually Milton Fine or some other shape-shifter/doppelganger posing as Chloe in the cult and find out where the real Chloe was being held and rescue her. đ€
Supreme. One of the reasons I started watching Smallville. The man still has it. Still beautiful. That voice... I can't even... Just amazeballz. Peace and love y'all.
Wow... This episode with John was amazing he is so inspirational, warm kind and honest đ. Michael I am so pleased your baby is doing better đ¶ keep up the awesome work hunnie lots of love â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Glad to see him and Lex r on good terms
i'm sorry about your dogs Michael... I am glad they are getting better. I am glad you have good friends to help. Thank you for sharing your painful story...
John Schneider is such a great guy. I really enjoyed this interview.
Thankyou for being so open about your dog. I lost my cat of 21yrs. She was with me through cancer, bulling, bad friends. Was 2 yrs ago now. Losing a pet it's a diffrent, difficult and deep pain
Bad ass mr schneider... best jonathan kent ever.... great content michael...cheers from Colombia
Thank you, Mr. Schneider. I'm that somebody 1:02:24. I needed that breath of life, I'm crying.
Great interview, Michael!
John Schneider is so cool he holds nothing back
John giving his personal ups AND downs along with life lessons was so fkin wholesome. Another great episode!
Will watch this after work, been waiting for you to have him on your podcast. Thanks for all you do. đ
Finally!!!!! Iâve been waiting for this one since you started this Michael!!! Thank You Sir đ„đ„đ„
so much wisdom - love it
I LOVED the episode of Leverage that John guest starred in, one of my favorite episodes. That is such a fun show.
Best interview I ever saw especially the Cancer part that John talks about
He's had some people I know on the podcast, and I love them all, but man this one was one of the most inspirational episodes this show has had. What an example of a human being.
It's emotionally exhausting when your dogs get sick. I'm glad your dogs are doing better now. â€ïž
Loved this one. Great that you were finally able to get him on. I could see how emotional John was over his wife's cancer diagnosis and his father's death. I like how motivated he is and his attitude toward life as a whole and hearing about the Justice System as it relates to him was so interesting, but, unfortunately, not surprising to hear.
Just noticed The Warriors vest. Very cool!
My mom will always remember when she met John in Baton Rouge. Unfortunately she lost his autograph when the flood of 2016 happened, the house submerged. I'm sorry John lost so many of his belongings too. She said he was such a nice man. Glad to see this interview! Thanks for all you do, Rosey
Glad to have found this podcast! Great show!
Awesome interview. He was full of so much wisdom. He smiled while talking too. He seems like a good human. So, happy this podcast is part of my life.
This is the Podcast I've been waiting for!!! Let's go!!
This was an awesome interview guys! I am so happy you both embraced Smallville! I really loved that show and met John at a local comic con. Very nice man. Never be ashamed of Lex! You crushed that role! :)
A good lawyer knows the law, a great lawyer knows the judge.
Looking forward to watching this i am just in from an early shift so gonna grab coffee then watch it đđ
Best podcast out there. Been listening for about a month or two now. Slowly making my way through. Best find of 2022. First and only podcast I've listened to past a week. Helpful, insightful, open. Best thing is hearing you say you're almost 50. Then jumping to another episode saying you're 47. Plenty to get through
Hearing him talk was so refreshing, another person that got strong signs that they should've been in the show business they're in now, and ended up reaching so many. I learned so much from his character on Smallville, it legit felt like I had a second father guiding me. I was 8 when Smallville came out and my father worked a lot so it was like he was kinda like a stand in and taking in the wisdom right now from the actual person behind Jonathan, it makes me feel nostalgia. He must have so much strength to live through all that he has and going.
John Schneider is our John Wayne love all of his work.
Just some good ol' boys hanging out! I've been looking forward to this one for a while!
Always hold on to Smallville. Fantastic interview with John Schneider. Love him in Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville. Iâm glad your dog is feeling better Michael. This is the best podcast around.
Thumbs and agreed Fredrick. Lol tho we give away our age range if you said you grew up watching dukes of hazzard. I also consider Gah the first quality superhero show on the level of smallville
Michael, congratulations on this podcast. I'm a fan of you and Smallville's cast. I'm from Brazil and this year, on quarantine, I watched the whole series. And now I discovered on youtube the "Inside of you podcast". Thanks.
This was great! It was interesting to learn about his back story and about the difficult things he had to face over the years.
