@@Larssonnie06 keep in mind the jury vote may not be representative because when the jury show happened joost wasn’t there and they showed it on a screen. if he was there and the whole story wasn’t a thing the jury might’ve dared to give more points. not sure it would have been enough for a win though

The Netherlands were my winners once, in 1975. They were my runner-up 7 times, in 1957, 1959, 1972, 1984, 1998, 2005 and 2014. They were my last place once, in 1997.

As a Dutchman, it kind of pains that so many wonderful entries my country has had over the years, didn't end up making the cut to at least become Top 5 songs in Eurovision. My country is home to so much good and fun music, which I think deserves more recognition. Like Douwe Bob's Slow Down, OG3NE's Lights and Shadows, and the exceptional Outlaw in 'Em by Waylon, which I honestly think is one of the most fun songs ever in the history of Eurovision. I don't need my country to win, necessarily. I just wish that our music would get a little more love than what we get most of the time, because gosh darnit, a lot of this stuff is just objectively fantastic
I’m the granddaughter of the writer of the 1962 entry Katinka (with 0 points). One of the reasons it scored so low was due to technical difficulties with the broadcast. While the Spelbrekers were performing some countries only saw shadows for half a minute. Nevertheless, it got them a bunch of goodwill in the Netherlands, and is part of the collective memory of Dutch persons from that generation. Nowadays it is one of the better-remembered Dutch Eurovision entries from the early years, and Dutch people see it as a golden oldie :)

After 6 years of being Joost fan i was crying because I was so proud that he finally stood there, on that Eurovision Stage, but now i keep crying when I think of the fact that he’s disqualified. Why you put Croatia as host country in 1990. i really don't know. It could have been Belgrade also, would you then write that Serbia was the host in 1990? Everyone knows that the winning country is the next year's host country. Even Croatia itself states that Eurovision was held in 1990 in Yugoslavia in Zagreb.
I have a feeling that even if Joost competed in the final with a possible disqualification on the edge he would won the contest. That's why EBU disqualified him, bc it would be too much good PR for the Netherlands
