Rambo III is a 1988 American action film directed by Peter MacDonald and co-written by Sylvester Stallone, who also reprises his role as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. A sequel to Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), it is the third installment in the Rambo franchise, followed by Rambo. It was the last film to feature Richard Crenna as Colonel Sam Trautman before his death in 2003.
The film depicts fictional events during the Soviet-Afghan War. In the film, Rambo sets out on a dangerous journey to Afghanistan in order to rescue his former military commander and his longtime best friend Colonel Trautman from the hands of an extremely powerful and ruthless Soviet Army colonel who is bent on killing both Trautman and Rambo.

40:25 The sport they're playing in that scene, Buzkashi, is one of the most dangerous in the world. Stallone choosing to do it himself just shows how fearless and dedicated he was

A wonderful job on the fan commentary for a very, very underrated sequel that kicks the fuck out of ''Last Blood'' IMHO
BTW That Sly/Cynthia Rothrock film sounded like a better version of ''Bullet To The Head'' also I never cared for the song that plays at the end of this film I had the pleasure of seeing this film on the big screen back in 1988 it was a very good time at the theater people cheered one liner ''Your Worst Nightmare'' along with me LOL.

25:33 What? Nothing happened? Novelization has more action than the movie! There's even entire additional battle which takes place in some canyons and it includes Rambo blowing up tanks and helicopter, before that there's another action scene where Rambo gets buried under the sand during sandstorm and has to dig himself out, and later there's an action scene which takes place on snow covered mountains, and Rambo causes an avalanche which buries some of the Russian soldiers. I think Mike just didn't liked the novelization for some other reasons, but there are lot more non-action scenes between Rambo and rebels, so maybe that's why he found it boring, who knows. Personally, i really loved novelizations for this and second film, and let me tell you, if you thought that movies were violent, you'd be surprised to see how violent the novelizations are. In Rambo 2 novelization he even kills more people during jungle hunt, i remember there's some dialogue mentioning how he kills like over hundred people.
38:39 Yes, The Executioner would have been interesting film to see, too bad Friedkin had problems with Sly and Silver. Wish i knew what were his problems with the script, it was written by writers of Road House, Robocop and Starship Troopers, so that has to be mean it had at least some good quality. There were like ten films Sly was supposed to do with Carolco, all of which were cancelled for various reasons, and this one was just one of them. Others include Gale Force, Isobar, Cliffhanger 2 aka The Dam, Bartholomew Vs Neff, The Midnight Club, early versions of Rambo 4...

eh, I can see why "Last Blood" was a bit underwhelming but at least it was better than most of Sly's recent films. Great commentary, too.
PS- To give it credit, I'll take "Last Blood" over "Last Jedi" any fuckin' day of the week. 😁

Rambo III came out on the same day as Crocodile Dundee II and the latter won the box office big time, particularly in the US where it made more than double what Rambo III made. The film didn't do the best in the UK either because the film was heavily cut as a response to the moral panic after the Hungerford Massacre in 1987.

Everyone says he did the kick. Someone said both him and his stuntman did it but they used the Sly take. Idk.

By pure coincidence re-watched this only days ago, and forgotten how much of a fun, cracking action movie it is. Completely superior to the awful Last blood, which is an unnecessary rubbish addition to the series.
