I love the creative use of foil tape. But you've made a simple job complex, and much less resilient. Why less resilient?
What you're doing is a repair using polystyrene and epoxy. Both are much more brittle than the PP (polypropylene) bumper, so any impact there is far more likely to cause a failure. Why not just fill the crack with some melted PP? (Usually the bumper will even have spare tabs somewhere ;) ) Much easier and guaranteed compatible.
Thank you for your enthusiastic contribution, I will try it with molten pp plastic. I'm actually testing a lot of different materials, after a long time seeing which material is the most suitable.

Bit long winded for me, think I'll stick to simpler & proven ways.
Thank you for your opinion ❤️❤️😍😍
@GausDIY which third world country are you from?

Your way is also very good, but I will do another simpler way, let's be creative ❤
Thank you ❤️
The mesh melted into the plastic was a great idea. After that, I'll just use Bondo. Especially since it's just a 2 part plastic resin with easy mixing steps.
That’s a great idea, easy to use!
Bravo merci pour cette transmission de connaissance
Very Good!
Good repair job. If anybody else has a better method, let's see it. Thanks!
I feel like fibreglass would be a better way to go than baking soda?
Bondo lol easy
Bondo, Plastik welding, Fiberglass etc. this was painfull to watch
Many better methods
Avoid superglue its dangerous
Bondo is easy
Good done!
Excelent !
Nice job for a single detail to repair.
Worst for the enviroment if you delete the damaged piece and buy another one.
Thanks for this good video!!!
I'm glad the video was helpful
Works good for those who can't afford to have repairs done, nothing wrong with that 😊
Muita dificuldade e trabalhoso isso. Existem métodos mais fáceis e rápidos 👍
Fiberglass/ resin would be a better option
Roger that, I was thinking JB Weld. But your idea makes sense
Seems/ Norton/3M and a few other companies make 2 part exposies specialized for different types of plastics/ rubber/ metals and fiberglass is what we use today.
Fiberglass resin will not properly adhere to some plastics and rubbers' basically will peel off.
Thats what I was thinking...Bondo is a lot easier and quicker.
This is the same, but different! And its uses the same melted plastic, that the body is made of.
No, resin will not stick to the plastic correctly .
Nice job!
Good paint match.
Thank you, I'm glad the video was helpful
Good job buddy!!! Very nice way of fixing that!! It's what I call sweet!!! Good luck!! Peace❤🇺🇸🇬🇧✌️
Thank you so much!
Enhorabuena.
thank you!
Nice work.
Thumbs up!!❤❤❤
Thank you 🤩🤩😍😍
I can't believe I watched a video of paint drying. ... good show
Vaya... Pero qué sencillo. " Una forma muy sencilla".. Vaya qué sencillo.. Brutal... Qué sencillo..
How is this simple?
Compared to using proper stuff?
Well done the final result looked amazing
Well it took him long enough
I see he does have some (yellow) filler, so what was the superglue for exactly?
I think these videos are made by superglue manufacturers
Always good to see new & different techniques.... I found it curious that the acetone melted the styrofoam, but didn't melt the plastic cup it was poured into.
Acetone will melt through the plastic cup as well. The red solo type cups take a good 3-5 minutes and you will.see the cup start the bend and shrink
Looks good to me 👍🏻
I'm glad the video was useful to you
Bravo Très belle idée .❤❤
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Too many steps but, you reach the the good result, thank you for share!
Glad it was helpful! Have a nice day!
Professional plastic welders (bike fairings,bumpers etc) know that they have to use the SAME material to weld them; so,they have an enormous variety of plastic rods for each job; and they charge a lot for those jobs too..;
By law,mostly in Europe,USA, and others, it is mandatory to have stamped on EVERY plastic piece,its material; all you do is to look for the stamped(molded!) 2 or 3 letters;
Best way is to cut and use a piece of the same plastic you are welding, from a place that stays hidden.
Thank you for your sincere feedback, I am testing different materials available at home to repair plastic items, and I also want to test online videos on plastic repair.

I think this was pretty clever when you don't have access to other means to make a repairs. 👏🏼
Yes, It is the purpose of the video. Thank you!
Ingenioso. Gracias por el video.
Looks great, comment that says dont do this, why? it got the job done perfect.
Good job😊
Thank you so much 😀
In fact it was very well done using 3 methods
That's really cool ! Alot of steps but very simple and budget friendly
Welcome to Gaus DIY channel, glad this video was helpful. Have a good day ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow, nice job! Always nice to see the different ways things can get repaired and fixed and your method or should the materials used for the repairs were new to me! Don’t pay attention to the nay sayers or negative comments, as in everything in this world, we can’t please them all, anyways, great video, keep them coming👍
Yes, that is work and a art, but Kamchor (workless) and lazy can't take this burden, only they can do negative comments.
Very creative. Thanks
Massa para funilaria é bem mais prático.
Sim, eu concordo com você
Que ideia espetacular! Parabéns!
Welcom to Gaus DIY channel, I'm glad the video was helpful!
well done.
I could have molded a brand new bumper with fiberglass in that time!!😂😂
Ridiculous demo.
yeah, but for a 50 times price...
Well do a video then!?
Obviously, that not many people know because they know better solution...😄😄 anyways good job
This is a great demonstration and I am grateful to know about the acetone and styrofoam,so thanks. You have gone around the moon to get to the next town on this one. Still its a well done video and much appreciated.
Thank you! Have a nice day!
Your creativity knows no bounds!
Thank you
Sencillo, sencillo...
😁😁✌️✌️
Great job! Thanks for sharing how to!! ❤
Thank you so much! I'm glad it was helpful!
3 years later, the repair is done!
Yes easy repair only three years lol
You forgot to put some ketchup on top
Thank you
Maybe BBQ sauce taste heaps better or SriRacha world famous sauce😂
OMG, ❤❤❤❤ doing things like this. Please show more cool things.
Hello, just asking what kind of asceton, is it for nails,? Yes or not, thanks
Better to go to Mia mechanics at Lamington Road, Bombay/ JC Road, Blore, etc. They do plastic welding and then spray painting.
Thank you❤❤💗, I feel satisfied about my car repair
Even if there's other best option out there (fiberglass+ resin) but I accept this as another good lesson. Thanks.
You might want to wet sand the whole bumper before painting Thanks for this amazing repair trick!
Nice thank you for sharing
What is the yellow stuff that you used?
It is hardener
@@GausDIY Great. You're a lot of help. Show a How-to video and leave off the name of the Most important chemical. 🙄
Also, any 2 part adhesives should be mixed on a separate surface and then applied. The problem with your technique is you have sandwiched un-mixed hardening agent and unmixed resin of whatever glue you used under the hardened glue. This will cause the repair to bubble up over time.
Overall you have used a very poor technique with poor materials that is guaranteed to fail.
😮
Super glue
Gracias bien bueno.
Probably still "not many people know" because the description of the materials you are using is not very clear.
I have a description in the subtitle
I know an easier way. Step 1 put painting tape on the front. Step 2 use puddy clay to fill in the hole from the back then wait for it to dry. Step 3 remove the tape from the front and sand it down. Step 4 spray paint the front and done. Hole is fixed!!!! Think smarter not harder.. lol
P
I like your way as well, but this guy couldn't make a video 😂
No he added the wire to the back to give that hole sum stability it's not a must do but it give that plastic hole more anchor & makes the plastic more enforced then it'll ever need.... Kinda of how construction sites use steel bars to reinforce concrete 👌🏽
I was saying the same thing
But clay becomes brittle when dried.
Wow that is cool.
thank you so much, i'm gald when it's helpfull.
Excellent
Thank you! welcome to Gaus DIY channel
It is a solution but way too messy and complicated. If you have the epoxy apply it with steel wool or the mesh to cover the hole. Sand down and reapply the resin for a fine finish.
Thank you very much, I will try it
Why not just use auto body filler?
😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅
d crack and fall out again if u dont know whst your talking about dont talk
@@johnnysmith7923 I asked a simple question. So you don't talk🤣
This purpose is to prolong the time costume in the video it's fb business men!!!!it means money to vloggers .... 😅😅😅

FFS, you have all the materials to do a proper plastic bumper repair. Add PPO plastic welding strips and/or a scrap cut from another broken bumper and you can make it like new using the correct materials.
Just do it with an polyester repair kit.
Currently I don't have a car repair kit, I'm looking for a useful way to recycle plastic items, thank you for your suggestions.
Why not just use body filler? It would have been quicker
Thank you, I'm testing a lot of different materials 💕💕💕
This is ridiculous. Don't do this.
Thank you for your feedback, I will try harder ❤️❤️💕💕💕
I completely agree! I'd rather ride around with the hole than to go thru all that! 😂 That's insane, get a little Bondo and sand paper. You had the mesh and sand paper but doing all that just for a simple hole is CRAZY! Sorry dude but that's way too many house hold items that would end up costing you more than just mesh, bondo, and sand paper. Thanks for the video bc you did put a lot of effort into it. 👍
Thank you for your sincere opinions, I have been trying to improve better. Have a good day.@@PRESTINERCs

Okay,,, nice work,,,

That's an absolutely terrible way to repair it. Environmentally catastrophic as well. Thumbed down.

plastic in itself is horrible. I bet you have over a 1000 items that is plastic. Hypocrisy

Would JB Weld work in place of the mixture of styrofoam and acetone?
You could just use Bondo.

I was about to say "one egg on top and you are ready" and you started to add resin hardner and that blow me of :D Dude you should reconcider evaporate less instant glue around you , seriosly!
Thank you, because it takes a lot of time for it to evaporate and hard. I tried it and waited for it to hard for a whole day.

Acetone
I've made these small repairs with Bondo glass with less prep and time. And despite what others think, Bondo glass is quite durable.
