- Amusement parks often become the opposite of what they're supposed to be: a blissful day in the sun. Instead, they’re places of pure terror, chaos, and gore in the blink of an eye. Deranged hostage situations, fatal mechanical failures, and bleak social experiments have also plagued even the happiest places on Earth.

I’ve heard that Disney has people that die in the park not pronounced dead until the body is outside of the park so that it doesn’t go into the records as a death AT the park. So that number is probably ridiculously underreported.
Ive heard this too!!
Austin’s idea of getting a bunch of anxious people together to see what could go wrong is perfect 🤣 These stories validate all of those times I nervous about what could have happened.
I’m not sure if it’s still operating, but The Joker rollercoaster at Six Flags GA goes upside down with only a lap bar.
Disney has such a low death rate bc they will get people off premises before they are pronounced dead so their death is not recorded as happening at Disney.
Truth 💯
Ah the corruption of disney so very true
Disney still sucks, though
Most places do that because it's incredibly rare to be able to pronounce someone DOA
@@navybratt9289That's a solid point, hadn't thought about it too hard but Occum's Razor.
I love these types of episodes where they talk about certain bizarre occurrences and I absolutely love Austin and Josh they are so calming to listen to and so is Kendall.
Not to be a weirdo but can we talk about how nice Austin’s skin looks. Need him to drop his skincare routine. 😂😂😂😂
he really does
He’s a man and he moisturizes. That’s all. Lmao.
I agree. I want nice, clear skin.
I bet you a gazillion dollars it is a face cloth and water.....actually just turning his face in the shower 😅. It is like men who have long arsed eyelashes. So unfair haha
definitely uses a 5 in 1 😂😂
The Disney banter had me in hysterics . Josh is like the grumpy Dad, bitter about the cost and Austin the excited kid. But the excuse me Mickey nearly killed me 😅😅😅😅
You should do sports injuries/deaths. Some gymnastics, cycling, swimming, skiing, racing, etc.. I’d love an episode on that! Also love your idea of workplace accidents.
They are on the wrong coast for hauntings. I'm from Pennsylvania originally. EVERYWHERE is haunted AF. Appalachians believe that if you heard something; no you didn't. The whole upper east coast is haunted by civil war soldiers in countless battle fields, tortured souls in dozens of abandoned jails and asylums, and old farm houses where slaves/servants were DEFINITELY murdered in the basement.
You do know people die horribly EVERYWHERE, yeah? Hauntings are possible anywhere.
I always hear people say don't go into the Appalachian mountains, because you will never be seen again. 🤷
WV is haunted. I swear the whole state is haunted
@@teaspoonsofpeanutbutter6425Yeah but the east coast lies on limestone which holds energy more. And there are a lot more older buildings in the northeast than out west meaning more people in those spots over time meaning more likely to have had people die there. Plus there was a whole civil war on the east coast. And more trauma in general with that + slavery and more trauma = more hauntings. No one’s saying west coast isn’t haunted. Everywhere can be. But it’s THICK on the east coast.
Hauntings are impossible everywhere
No such thing@@teaspoonsofpeanutbutter6425
I love the friendship these 3 have. Also Josh has the cutest dimples.
watching him fumble his words for the first half was cute too cause i am the same way 🤣 talking is hard

If people think the intro is too loud they can just turn the sound down, starting any youtube video with your phone cranked to the max volume is guaranteed to blow your eardrums out at some point, so that's really not on them. Just don't leave your phone volume at max capacity and you should be good. The option for louder sound allows people who don't have speakers to still be able to listen to their phone from more of a distance and still be able to hear it.
Too bad common sense isn’t so common these days, eh
So a few hundred thousand people need to remember this and a couple other of many podcasts watched. All these folks need to turn their phones down. Instead of the show helping folks out just a little by taking the edge off of the intro. Got it. Its a big f you to those that would like to keep their hearing. (From you not the show) If you only knew how people with severe tinnitus suffer. Smdh. And its not about having it blasting. Its about the difference in their voices and the intro. They are very soft spoken. In fact i fall asleep to lights out every night. But then have to watch it again the next day. Lol
@danitheuerkauf7095 Yea turning your sound down from max capacity will "help you keep your hearing", it's that simple and most people find that to be common sense, as others here have said too lol! Why should a podcast have to edit it's entire settings for all because a minority of people don't want to turn their phone volume down. Also Josh created an entirely separate channel for those who fall asleep to his content because he has stated that falling asleep to violent content is probably not healthy for your subconscious mind either, so he made that alternative channel for that purpose, it's called Planet Sleep or something and it's been up for over a couple years now lol.
@danitheuerkauf7095 hey er, the world neither cares nor pivots around YOUR tinnitus. YOU are responsible for YOUR tinnitus, not the many noise outlets you're subjected to daily.
Some people are just whingers with too much damned time on their hand's, right!?! 😅😅😅😂😂😂😊😊😊
I only WISH I had that much time on my hand's to be such a freakin sook. Xox
Yay! Please do a ghost hunt! Would love to see you 3 do that!!
Thisss!! That’ll be suuucchhhh a fun special
Agree!
lol, Josh just shooting down Austin at every turn over a Disney World trip 🤣
The audio sounds SOOOO GOOOD!!! So much better!!!
I've passed the lakeside park so many times and was absolutely baffled when I found out that this place is actually open and functioning. It looks like it really shouldn't be.
I went there when I was like 14 and I can't believe I went on the big white roller coaster... it was so sketchy like it was literally rotting and falling apart
i’d love to see the lop boys and the ghoul boys team up for a joint investigation
I was just thinking the same thing. I think once their channel gets to a certain point with it it’s a definite possibility.
Back in the day, the theme park Knott's Berry Farm had a ride called Perilous Plunge. Pretty similar to the water ride you mentioned. When it originally opened in 2000, it just had lap bars and individual seat belts. For some reason, I actually went on it. The drop was a 77.8 degree angle, and was considered the tallest and steepest water ride at the time. Sadly, someone did die in September 2001 from the drop and they put in over the shoulder harnesses after that incident (I went on the original without it, yikes!).
I grew up in California always going to knotts berry farm I love it! Always have and still do, I was going when that ride was in operation, it was always breaking down and my mom never let my brothers and I go on that ride because of the incident that occurred. I don’t remember when they closed it, but it’s not longer there and another ride has taken its place
@@kendallrice5705 I believe it closed back in 2011 or 2012!
Over the shoulder harnesses make 0 difference when restraints isn't checked lol. Lap bars are perfectly safe if checked AND closed.
I’m shocked you guys didn’t include the Schlitterbahn incident considering how recent it was… truly my Roman Empire
Ugh, that one absolutely haunts me
I was surprised they didn’t mention it either. That one is so sad. 😭
I feel like they did that on Mile Higher before or a previous episode.
There was a horrific accident at Battersea Park London in 1972 on the Big Dipper rollercoaster The rope that hauled the cars up snapped causing them to rollback..Teenagers were killed...The park closed in 1974.. There's a plaque there now...Went there as a child in the late 1960s Blessings and happy thoughts!Thank you for the quality content!🎢💥🎡🎠
Whenever i hear about people dying on rollercoasters i automatically think about final destination main reason why i don't get on them
As someone who has spent a LOT of my life at Disney, my best advice is to hit up your favorite rides at Magic Kingdom DURING the fireworks! Everyone will be waiting to watch the fireworks so the lines are shorter.
Also, it’s wild hearing you guys talk about the dangers of Disney (and other amusement parks) that aren’t the rides or mechanics. My dad worked at Disney’s Grand Floridian (yes, the resort from the tragic alligator incident) for 30+ years and would take my best friend and I with him on the way to work and get us into Magic Kingdom and just leave us there while he went to work! He would just call us on his break & check in. We’d make our way back to meet him when he got off work which was around the same time the park was closing. I NEVER felt unsafe or anything like that. But now as a mom myself, I’m SHOOK that we were so unaware and that my dad let us do that LMAO. I never in a million years would let my kids do that!
And just a little fun fact that I learned the other day- My dad was part of the 1076 piece band that played on Magic Kingdom’s Main Street for opening day 🤯
Here's my advice: Disney sucks, and NOT worth a single damn penny to a dime.
My 9 yr old son is pissed because Chuck E. Cheese doesn’t have the old animatronic figures …. He likes old school original everything lol… that’s why he loved the five nights at Freddy’s movie so much..
Yep. Luckily one in CA in Huntington Beach still has the animatronics! So sad they’ve gone all digital
Before I dive in and listen to another great Lights Out podcast, I just wanna say that you all sound great! Those mics and mic stands, are bad ass!
1:09:16 they also make them take people outside the park before pronouncing them too. Decreases the numbers.
Wow. Man I remember being in high school going Knott's Berry Farm me and my friend went on Montezuma's Revenge, which has a 360 degrees loop, the over the head bar for some reason did not complete lock in on my friend. At the top of the loop the bar flew, all immediately start yelling stop the right which and luckily centrical force keep her in and the ride was stopped. We have not been on a ride like that since. As always guys great podcast.
Montezuma's Revenge never used to have shoulder restraints. When did they put shoulder restraints on it?
PSA: it’s also possible to contract N. Fowlri from a Neti pot. That’s why it’s imperative that you DO NOT use tap water!
Ew!!! 🤢
My ENT said it’s not a big deal. I’ve been doing sinus rises for 12 years, nothing has ever happened to me using tap water. Of course my tap water is reverse osmosis, and I don’t boil the water either.
Why do I have a feeling you're never going to take Holly to Disney World after this? 😂
When we took our kids, all they wanted to do was feed the ducks! We spent thousands of dollars to feed ducks! hahaha
At this point, why would he???
So I am only 16 minutes into the video, but I had a really bad day at work, and I wont lie, coming home to watch this while using my pen has already improved my mood so so much. Thank you Josh, Austin and Danny!
Same! Lights out and a bowl makes this day nicer
need more episodes like this! love the ones like work accidents, vacation accidents it all really makes you think about what could go wrong
Oooo multiple stories today!
Big fan of the dynamic between Josh and Austin. Can’t imagine the podcast with any other duo now 👌🏻👌🏻
i can’t wait to watch this episode! Austin and Josh have such funny and kind energy; i always feel like i’m one of their friends when i watch LOP ❤️
I'm happy you both mentioned child predators at the parks! People just assume they are safe in crowds, and that is certainly not the case!
i love the love Josh exudes in the intros
I know you’re in Colorado. However I’m from Eastern Kentucky and know a haunted place locally. I know the owner and could get it touch with him easily. The owners been trying to get the place back up and running to be a bed and breakfast however it’s super unsettling and creepy there.
These are my kind of stories, more please!
We had a lawn care man get decapitated by our wooden roller coaster while he was mowing. Heartbreaking! There was also a kid who stood up during the ride, fell and died. In Wichita at Joyland. Which is now closed, sadly. We loved Joyland and it was the best rollercoaster ever. I’ve been on many, none could compare.
I've always felt these amusement rides are inherently dangerous, but I just put it down to me being a lifelong nervous nelly. However, I really liked your discussion of the physics involved. Unfortunately you just can't beat the natural laws of the earth.
Absolute geniuses work on these famous roller coasters! Life is too short to fear EVERYTHING. Roller coasters are so fun!!!
@@beanybabyrabieMy fear of heights begs to differ. I just find it too stressful. What roller coasters I do go on usually give me a headache.
Come to Mackinac Island and spend the night at the Grand Hotel on the island. It has some MAJOR paranormal activity
When kids go missing from the Disney parks, they won't be reported as missing from Disney, but from their hometown
No child has gone missing for more than a short period of time at Disney world.
@dejavuduo4504 exactly my point.
I was lost at disney at 2yo for an hour after I wondered away and they closed down the park, shut the gates, shut down the rides, and had police flooding the streets. They found me in the bathroom hiding.
Edit: this was 1998 so they probably do alot less now as not to "scare" guest since everyone is on edge now.
The beautiful bros ❤❤❤ Big love for Austin & Danny!
So me and my brother were attending showbiz pizza now known as Chuck E. Cheese around 1990. I remember loving it, but my older brother was terrified of the animatronics. Hair entanglement is why I still haven’t zip lined. It’s funny the rides I would get on growing up with the meth crazed operators and like legit zero engineers. The good old days.
Hair entanglement is so easy to prevent though 😂
I could instantly tell the difference in the sound! Much more crisp and clear, imo 👍🏼
We are going to want an entire paranormal spin-off. I can't wait for this!
That amoeba scares the shyte outta me.... it's called N. Fowleri..... only 2 have ever survived it... 👀
Well… 5 documented survivors in the entire Nortb American continent…. But…. Still terrifying nonetheless ….. (especially regarding how SIMPLY one can be infected.)
…side note - for Me, nothing compares to the Absolute & Overwhelming Terror - of the Rabies virus. 🦠 just the sheer THOUGHT 💭 of it …. Gives me a shudder, ughh!
Btw - you’re Beautiful! And clearly intelligent! That’s awesome 🤩 lol. I imagine you the kinda girl that LOVES Science. lol….
… sorry I’m a weirdo. I NEVER have any free time, and for once - my kids are gone, my husbands out, my homes clean and there’s nothing left to do with my Business…. I have 3 hours of “Free Time” and I (CLEARLY) don’t know what to do with myself, lol. Sorry for the weirdness. (I don’t “get out” much…. And by “get out,” I meant “interact with fellow Society - with the exception of my Family”)
@@kristamonroe9120 That's why I always listen to podcasts...I don't get much free time, so when I do, I don't know what to do with myself.
yes! Rabies is terrifying and many people actually think it has a cure@@kristamonroe9120
Remember when Fabio was hit by a bird on a rollercoaster?
Lmao iconic
Stop Fabio hit on me at a party once in LA 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I know you’ve been before Josh but y’all should all go do a night at the Stanley Hotel! Husband and I visited back in 2021 and took the last tour of the night and I caught the janitor in the bathroom mirror in the basement(his room). I would love for you guys to stay on the 4th floor and see what you guys catch, would be entertaining for sureee! Btw sounds and visuals awesome! 👏
They did that already
Honestly the Disney rant y’all had was so damn funny ! I love it when randomly, during a podcast you guys trail off into an off topic. I love hearing both of your opinions on whatever you choose to talk about. This podcast never disappoints ! Really grateful for this podcast and all the podcasts under higher love media, you all have done so much for my mental health, even if it’s just uploading and having consistency. It’s made me feel so much less alone and took my mind off some dark times I’ve been enduring.
“If it smells like sh*t” lmao!!!! 😂
My husband was a cast member at Disney. There is an underground city under it they probably marched out guy that way.
i knew a young girl who got Naegleria fowleri (the brain eating amoeba) she went to the lake with her family, couple days later, she tells her dad she’s going to lay down for a bit because she had a headache but, she never woke up. her dad went to the store. came back. and she was gone. it was such a shock. everyone was confused how such a rare thing could happen. her dad blamed himself for going to the store when it happened, even though it was already too late and there was nothing anyone could have done. he took his life a couple days after her funeral. the family is so strong i have NO IDEA how they keep going. she was like an angel on earth. such a terrible loss that i will never forget.💔💓
Idk, everytime I get on a roller coaster I simply accept my death lol
😂
As you should
WOW SEVENTY BUCKS FOR A SEASON PASS IN COLORADO ..!!?!? lol … here in Los Angeles - ALL of our parks’ season passes are like…. CHEAPEST $300-$500 (which includes HALF THE DAYS “BLACKED OUT” so you can’t attend!) up to like $1000-$2000!!!!
Seriously parks have gotten CRAZY in price….. the ONLY affordable one is Six Flags Magic Mountain, which is a little out of the way - but also SO INCREDIBLY BUSY now - each coaster will set you back AT LEAST one hour of wait time….
Gen Xer here, it’s honestly a million wonders most of us made to be adults 😭 we went thru and done the scariest stuff 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is the first time I’ve been near my phone when introducing Danny.. I was like ZAK BAGANS WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE 😂
Yes!!!! I would love to see y’all out somewhere investigating!!
Happy Friday everyone!!! Have an amazing day 🩵🩵🩵🩵
Great episode❤❤❤❤Many people die at Disney. For the longest time, they were taken to hospital before they actually died, that way Disney could legit say that the death wasn’t at Disney 🙄
Eleanor Neal just did a video on this!
Love Josh talking about the Chuck E cheese conspiracy and the shout out to Shane 😂😂😂❤❤❤ what a time to be alive that was lol!!
Kennywood Park, in Pittsburgh PA has the Thunderbolt a wooden roller coaster and it is expected to be whipped around, part of the experience.
Look at the wood rollercoaster ride at silverwood theme park in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho…. It’s super scary looking
My dad was a stock car racer in the '50's, '60's and '70's and he raced on tracks like that one all over Ontario. The tracks were all dirt and we got very dirty watching because we sat on the hood of cars right at the wooden snow fence...not even a chain link fence back then. I remember a car loosing a tire and it flew past all the cars in front of it and through the fence....no one got hurt.
Y’all are so damn funny. Your friendship makes this show so much better. I’ve watched from day one but I think the Josh/Austin/Danny trio is definitely the best yet ❤️
I heard in a different podcast that disney wont let doctors pronounce people dead until they're off disney property in order to keep the death count down.
I haven’t watched lights out in a few weeks I’m behind on my showsssss. I have missed you guys while I’ve been away hahahaa
Hospital events , injuries, preventable conditions, etc. Would be a good topic. Hospitals are crazy dangerous places.
Take kendal and the kiddo to ontario.. the St thomas old mental hospital does tours & movies and is haunted& has a horribly sad story behind it
I love you all! Your soft tones are a joy to the ears. Thank you for such great content and story telling. I just love it when you all laugh too!! Keep up the great work
Yes I agree, Josh's face lights right up when he laughs, smiling eyes :)
I'm 42 and 4'9 and 90 pounds. I do not go on a rollercoaster without over the shoulder restraints. Lol. No tiny bar is going to keep me in a seat. My first coaster was when I was 14. I was very tiny. My brothers friend rode with me because my brother was with his girlfriend. He saved my life. I was coming out of the seat, and he put his arms around me and just leaned over me until it was over. I was in tears. My brother was behind us screaming to just hold on tight. I thought my brother was going to crush me he hugged me so tight after we were off the ride. He was so greatful to his friend. (From then on, I had two brothers). We were all done after that. It took me a couple of years before I would ride another one, and that had the shoulder restraints and it was with my brother.
Parents have to do that with their kids a lot. Thank god for instincts.
Josh u look so 90s with your colorful button up and gold chain lol
Austin...."I'll do it but I'm not gonna have fun"!!😂
"Anxious" people in Denver would be anything over a 10 degree slope and they'd be freaking out wanting a 5 point harness😂😂😂
Hate Chuckee Cheese! Never let my kids have a party there! Animatronics are so creepy, and the place always seemed so chaotic!
Not to mention it’s filthy!!!
And it smells like sweaty toddlers
When Josh said "exCUsE mE mICkeY" HAHHA that took me out 🤣
I just love the banter you guys have. I absolutely adore Austin, love his voice and he's so darn cute!
Crazy hearing you talk about a case so close to home. Hannah went to my high school in Pontypool Wales. Our school was catholic and we had a chapel. The photo in your thumbnail was beautifully framed in the wall as you’d walk in. Such a horrific tragedy that could of easily had been avoided.
1:00 your sound smells just fine, in case you were wondering xD
Smells just fine? 😂
@Moonbunny55 yeah Josh goofed and said it while talking about the sound lol
My mom was neighbors with the boy (Mark Maples) who died on the Matterhorn ride. I remember her telling me the story when I was a kid to warn me. I showed her that part of this podcast and I could tell by her face that she relived the horror of what happened. Crazy.
I’m 5’0” 100lbs. I won’t go on wooden roller coasters anymore. As you said, they only have lap bars. At least 2 times I can recall, the ride had basically made me stand up, cuz the lap bar didn’t come close to my lap. Freaked me out and I’d rather not go on any wooden roller coasters again.
I also saw when I was young how a girl got scalped on a ferris wheel. She had long hair and it got caught on a tree. I also have long hair. I won’t go on them now cuz I always have that in the back of my mind, even if no trees around. 😅😂
Omg the Jurassic Park ride. That drop my face hit into the area in front of me and I hurt my nose. My cousin hurt her wrist. Lucky that’s all that has happened to us. Scary.
And Austin’s idea with getting 10 of the most anxious ppl to say what is wrong with a ride is really pretty genius! 😂
RE: the parks reaction to hands up - at everyone I've ever been to the announcement during the take off say we ask for your safety to please keep your arms and legs firmly inside the ride and some even have signs sooooo I would not be a sympathetic juror. 😂😂
The sound sounds richer. Don't know the tech word but it sounds "richer" is a good thing 💜
I LOVE THESE EPISODES!!! Amusement park tragedies, etc.
Thank you, gentlemen! 🥰
You don’t have to tell us Florian’s s not to swim in the water here 🤣🤣 if it’s wet, it’s dangerous lol
Scooby Doo best stories are in abandoned/closed amusement parks 😎🔍🍔🐾
Love you guys, your back-and-forth is a the most explicit you can fint in here Thx
Great episode! Thanks guys!
I remember when this happened I live close to this place and I went with the school for a trip the summer it happened or maybe the year after it was a long time ago but I remember it was grim walking past that ride (it was closed)I’m so glad someone is taking about this. And it’s you guys ❤ I was not much younger than her when this happened. I remembered her photo straight away because she was so beautiful x
I remember riding the Cyclone when I was a teen. I loved it. It was my favorite.
When Austin said amusement parks are the worst places for actual problems to happen that hit me. I remembered me and friend were at Halloweekends one year ( cedar points Halloween season ) and we were being chased and stalked by a REAL person who was sniffing our hair and touching us in line of one of the coasters. He followed us after the fact and we kept telling people someone was chasing us but there were so many people dressed as monsters so they just thought we meant one of the actors. We were able to lose them and run back to our family thank god!
I had a lap bar open on me while on a ride, good thing we had a seat belt too, but I hung on with one hand and trying to close the bar on the other my son also was trying to help me. Grateful 🙏 to be here today. Ever since I don't really go on coasters and rides as much.
The sound quality was crisp as HELL love it guys
"main character plot armor" 😂😂😂
I took a ghost tour in Denver through Capital Hill. Cheeseman park would be cool to do. You could probably set up in that pavilion that’s there.
love this epidsode style! more like this please!
This was years ago, but it’s tradition to go to Kings Island Amusement Park the day after Prom, and that’s what we did after Prom in 2001. I was on a roller coaster called the Racer, where there are two roller coaster’s going in opposite directions racing each other, and that’s the one I was on. I was probably 100 lbs and tiny, and when the coaster went over a hill I flew up in my seat, and if my daughters dad hadn’t put his arm across me, pushing me back down in my seat, then I would’ve flown out. It was terrifying and I haven’t been on it since.
I been watching Kendall and Josh for 7 years and just realized their company mile higher is named because they live in Denver. I didnt know that was the city's slogan like me in Birmingham Alabama ours is the iron city 😂😂 I thought is was mile high because of marijuana 🤦🏻♀️
They explain in the beginning episodes on Mile Higher that it’s both 😊
@@DazeeMae I've seen the episode maybe I just forgot
