So cool to shout out effspot I still cant believe how crazy the exhaust sounds on his s600! hope to get our channel this big one day!
Yeah it is. Effspot did a shout out for my channel when my video helped him with hydraulic fluid and I got about 5k new subs that month.
Yeah, real shame he fell off though. He rarely ever comes onto my recommendations page, meaning I watch him less. But his S600 is mental!
@@therealrando not really. I talk to him all the time. His content was always focused on his video and photography of cars and car scenes. The s600 exhaust just happened to go viral but he had a big account before that so he needed to stick to what he knows
@@petescarport Not saying that I do not watch him at all, I just keep forgetting about him as he doesn't get recommended to me as often.
Tyler should just do 1 thing, put a custom exhaust on it
As the new caretaker of Hoovie's last S500 I can confirm it is a very nice place to spend time cruising down the road, but that S600 exhaust noise is awesome!
You are better with the 500. 😉
You seem to be a Hoovie copycat, judging by a quick glance at your videos. Best of luck with that.
@@procatprocat9647 Oh wow, his voice/intonations/word choices are a copy, and even his new house is a miniature copy. That is just... bizarre.
@@MikeLikesChannel 🤣 seriously? That's pathetic. I didn't bother clicking on any videos, just seeing a couple of thumbnails was enough.
What a loser !
@@procatprocat9647 I just... by all means anyone can make a channel about their cars, no rules there -- but don't blatantly rip Hoovie or Doug DeMuro or some established creator off. Gotta make it original and unique. I review and do astronomy videos - one of my goals is not to be anyone else on YT already.
One thing I instantly noticed about the car is how much more quiet it is inside the cabin compared to other cars even when you've got the engine on and foot pretty heavy on the gas pedal. Its like stepping into a completely different universe.
Double paned glass! And other tricks, I'm sure.
@@theundergroundlairofthesqu9261 I had an o6 xj jag years ago with double panel glass when someone called me on the phone they didn't believe I was driving and lying to them as they could not hear any other noise at all in fact it was so quiet you could hear the clock tick.
@@Sophiechic Knew a young man who bought one of these S classes used and his buddy would fall asleep in it whenever he rode in it.
Nice to know Jaguar did it, too!
If you talk inside the car it actually sounds like you’re in an isolation chamber or something. It’s wild
Thats luxury
I still love the 90’s era big body S Classes. They were built so well
Fun times with Hoovie! I’ll find a mint S600 someday..
Urination Bob - you misspelled Urination Bob. Just a heads up.
I miss Tyler being able to say urination Bob. Come on Bob, sense of humour
@@ligmaballz1 theres a fly on my screen. Help.
not hard to find, and there is nothing existing as a mint s 600, the best gift you can give an enemy is one, as so unreliable...ive had 2 never again, and never again own a merc bmw or audi out of warranty
Wojak, Hoovie ended that joke last year
There is a V12 exhaust system available that makes it sound like F1 whenever you floor it. Very cool to see
But it cost 12k Dollars, and it's made only in Japan.
it sounds brutal😂 sounds like you’re going million miles an hour when you’re driving normal speeds
it is just an open exhaust...
Watch the video until the end. 😉
It sounds lame when the car is driving slow
I love these V12s on startup.. they sound like an airplane engine the way the starter spools
That is the sound of a very expensive starter. You can tell what level of car you're dealing with by that sound. NO American car of the era sounds even remotely like it up start up with their cheap as shit starters.
Tyler, you don't need another Mercedes. I'll take it off your hands and save you the room in the garage. Let's do this.
I don’t have a mechanic friend
I will take the SLS Mclaren. Don't think he has enough space for that
I want his bright red Cadillac CTS-V wagon.
Loool
I thought this would be legit street cars lmao
I bought a 99 S500 in December '21 and I absolutely love it. It's not a 600, which I didn't really want due to the added maintenance cost, but it is nearly mint and is just so nice to drive. I paid about 11k for it, it's a lot nicer than this one and didn't have any real issues. It just needed a few maintenance things and the rear sunshade. I'm interested to hear what the Wizard says about these.
Now this is the Hoovie we want
100%. Buy the junkers, not the Lambos. No interest in Lambo problems.
Yes, more actual hoopties and less $300k vintage muscle cars please
Amen
Making bad decisions so we don't have to!
These are my favorite kinds of Hoovie projects; that sweet spot between beater and nice car where it's crusty but there's room to bring it back. Nice pickup, make sure to send Urination Bob something nice! Can't wait to see what your new detailing buddy can do with it.
This car wasn't the least bit crusty lol
Bob gave him the car because he knows Hooves videos will pay for the repairs and restoration etc. Bob's videos wont. Then Tyler flips the car back to Bob some time down the track for a gift price and they're all happy.
Bobs asked for that nickname not to be used anymore, pretty disrespectful to keep using it if you don’t even know the dude.
@@mj_aussie_coaster_travels8310 I'm sure he's crying about it right now in Kansas.
...where it's 'crusty'... 😏
I love that Tyler just gets into cars, starts them and revs the crap outta them
A rare glimpse into these car CZcamsrs personal lives. To hear that Bob was the best man at Tyler's wedding puts their dynamic into a new perspective. These guys are best friends. My crew always talks about filming what we do on cars every day but it just doesn't make sense to slow us down to film. Good on these guys for making filming it a career.
Wizard has discussed the challenges of filming in a shop, but it was worth it to him.
strange mention since his wedding ring disappeared in this video.
I fell in love with this car once effspot released the first video of the equal length headers on his S600. I am determined to own one someday and make it sound the same. For what my comment is worth, I say go all out and make it sound like effspots!👍 Hoovie has the money if he really wanted to!
These are the Hoovie videos we love ❤
I started watching your channel after you sold your another S600 to tavarish, so its great that you have new one even the 2 generations before :) I hope it doesn't have many problems (fingercrossed)
I worked on a few of s600 back in the day, one belonged to a Broncos player. Navy blue with tan interior so nice. 5 spoke AMG wheels looked incredible on it
Ayn stories to tell on the 600s you worked on, and what did the bills run in 2023 $$$$?
@@jpkatz1435 my experience was years ago, parts cost and availability these days are a different animal all together.
They are stoutly built and most were used as executive cars, so low revs, and smooth usage. They weren't Hoovied much.
Brakes and Suspension were the biggest issues that was encountered as they are heavy beasts. Also they would carbon up and have idle issues from puttering in town about versus spirited driving. Coil packs would crap out, especially when it was a humid day and the hairline cracks would arch against the intake. Leaks were more common on lower mileage cars as the seals would dry up some. Changing the trans fluid usually requires a pan replacement as they would warp and leak over time. Window regulators would have issues from the weight of the double pane windows fairly cheap fix, motors held up just the regulator itself would cause problems.
They are lovely to drive, like surfing a wave of endless torque versus the on off punch of most cars.
Yep I was about to say he needs to put the 5 spoke AMG rims on it
Please give effspot a call and do the exhaust mod he did. Still gives chills and laughs when I watch that video when he reveals his s600. Soooooo crazy.
Disagree
Agree.
When the speed doesn't match the sound it's kind of silly. But it would be cool if the car had 800hp though.
That's not what an S-Class is about. If you want to swing your tiny dick around for attention, I suppose you can slap a loud exhaust on an S-Class. But, this is a car about luxury and silence with get-up-and-go.
@@PuerRidcully I don't think that's the point of what effspot did. He wanted a fun car that could still stay at safe speeds. Yeah, you could probably get big power out of the 6.0L V12's from these cars, but it's better to just let the car be reliable and still fast (and loud) enough to have fun, but not fast enough to put himself or others around him in danger by hitting on it. Besides, these cars are so absurdly heavy it's not exactly a great chassis to tune for speed anyways
I love these so much! Glad someone who appreciates w140 so much will bring this one the love it deserves
Thought we might seem some white powder under the tailpipe while Hoovie was revving. Kinda like a scene with a beautiful 83 Eldorado from a movie we all love.
Honestly can’t wait for this to be fully tuned up and detailed, such a cool car
Van gough will make this car look like it has half the miles
Love how he optimistically says "minor issues" when the hydraulic suspension is rooted. That's probably going to cost thousands upon thousands to repair properly given the age of the car, it'll mean replacing dozens of seals that will all be perished by now, possibly causing distribution blocks that could take many hours to diagnose and repair - even Mercedes master techs often struggle to get them working properly again. Then there are the V12 oil leaks... nightmare... Good content though so he'll probably do fine out of it regardless.
Haven't watched Hoovie in a while, but this got me back. Love seeing the old classics getting sorted out Hoovie style
Why did you stop watching him
@@denitipuric1130 Just too many new cars and the projects kind of slowed to a boring pace.

Needs a bod with a welding kit and a bit of nonce about them. So not you then .
This car is the Holy Grail of we W140 lovers. I have a '97 S500 and I will never part with it. It is mint with only 87K miles on it.
MB did do some decontenting on these cars after '95, mainly the aforementioned power rearview mirror, rear parking masts(they'd shoot up from the rear fender when the car was in reverse; pre- rear camera days🤣), and no standard rear power seats on the 600. BUT the bank vault solidity and magic carpet ride remained.
Of course the cool thing about the power rear view mirror was that it was tied to the key fob, so my key fob set the seats and ALL of the mirrors to my settings, while my second key fob did the same for the other driver.
Yay I’ve got the even dummer one c215 m137. It’s taught me a lot! Like 1) you can’t throw parts at it 2) you’ll need a lot of time 3) never assume anything 4) test every system 5) include the ECU in every electrical system test. 5) don’t go near any forum
Don't beat yourself up on the power antenna. I've done it myself. I picked up on how quiet that car is when you did your on-ramp scoot. I hope to experience such a thing one day.
This will always be the best S class of all time. The technology and comfort was way ahead of its time.
Agree, Pat. In case you don't see my comment, I bought Bob's dream pair new in 1992 and have owned most of the great luxury and sport cars - this is by far, hands down, the best car ever made.
Love the relationship these two guys have. It's wholesome and enjoyable to watch
That V12 was basically two I6's connected together, it really isn't the greatest V12 I thought the next one was a better design but it is naturally aspirated and I loved the full powerband when I drove one, pulled like train.
everything I LOVE in one Hoovie video WOW
i had the old S500...what a beast..but frickin expensive to maintain...specially in european country....but what a monster..doing 200km/h in dead silence is something else
I'm guessing the bill from the Wizard will be in the 10K-15K to cover everything they find wrong. Belt service, air suspension, electronics for starters.
@@danm3359 at least.

Probably enough to put a downpayment on a summer house. The hydraulic suspension fix could cost as much as the car.
Wow... It's a beauty. Potentially.
Congratulations Tyler! This one I am looking forward to!
Smart move by Bob. I'd be very glad to have a friend like you Hoovie.
Keep up the content!
You could blow through more than the purchase price of this one quickly, with repairs
Just HVAC work will cost you thousands as the dash has to be completely disassembled to get to some of the components
I owned one of these in the late 90's( not a V12) and I recall some dealer repair bills over $5000...and that was 24 years ago
I had the suspension go out on my S600 about 20 years ago and it was $3500 for just the rear shocks to get replaced at a non M-B garage. I don't miss the $200 (back then) oil changes either.
He's well aware of the pitfalls. This isn't his first rodeo.
@@Hotlog69 Oh I am aware. I was just pointing out how quick these cars can be effectively " totaled"
@@turnne That's not shied away Hoovie before.
Back to basics - love it! Dump all those "Exotics", that nobody can aspire to in reality and concentrate on the kind of stuff that we all can afford, but are scared to take on! Love this car, was picked up in one outside the bank I worked for at the time to go for an interview that changed my life and felt like a million dollars riding out to the West End from the City of London.
Speaking of the SSRs, I remember going to Detroit in 2005 and test driving both a green SSR and an orange GTO with 6 speeds and LS2s. While the GTO would light up the tires all day long, the SSR was waaaaaay too heavy to do any burn outs.
As far as Tyler’s V12s, I do have a 456M and a W221 S65…and a green Jaguar…albeit a XJS coupe.
Another great video from Hoovie. Keep it up
Euroasian Bob's beard is coming in FIERCE! Nice V12, a proper Sonderklasse.
Uh.. ok…
Hurray! Something I can relate too. A great older car with a relatable price.
My old boss had one of these and back in the day I was tasked with taking it for new tires, that's when I fell in love with Mercedes. This thing is a race car........

Hoovie, I’m desperately awaiting the next video on this S600. I can’t wait! I check my CZcams every hour. I have the same car and the w140 is my all time fav platform!
I love the sound of those V12's starting up.
So refreshing to see a car that fits the channel's original theme. Perhaps there are millions of people out there who want to hear about millionaire toys, but to me, the best vicarious viewing is when you get cars like this.

I was a Factory Trained MB Technician in the 00’s, I worked with a foreman who was an official member of the “Ill never own a W140” club. Absolute heaps of flaming dollars on wheels.
As much as I miss my '92 (bought new) for sentimental reasons, I kind of knew that this would be the case.
Nothing like the W140 leather/ leaky evaporator smell! MB tech since 2000. I still own a 1999 S320.
@@mbjasondify that dash 😵💫 🤦. Never again!
These are really tremendous cars. Bought mine in the spring of '97 in Florida from the dealership which just got it in from their District Rep. It had barely any miles and a discount of nearly 20 large off full retail at about 6 months old. They got in a total of 3 including mine, so not a real easy to find unit. I own it still and must say: that massively potent V/12 is awesome and with the speed limiter remedied to w.o.t. instead of the measley 148 mph governed, it will easily run 30 mph faster. It feels like floating on a cloud but with bank vault solidarity. I love it and will never let it go !
*I used to work on a fully armored version. The windows are insanely thick. And it’s a relatively fast vehicle, even with all the armor weight. W140 are awesome vehicles, if you maintain them well.*
Well bought so far :-)
I'm a W116 guy BUT the W140's are probably the last S class I'd consider and the 500 or 600 and even the 6 Cyl im comfy with as being a "Proper Mercedes".
2 friends have actually taken on 140 projects, @MMWA-DAVE and The Timp graduating from W116 6.9's to W126's and W124's (MMWA's Red 124 is a stunning example) so its awesome to see them back with an S Class doing it right.
W140s were the peak of MB in my opinion. I own a 1987 W126 420SEL and a 1992 W140 300SE and the W140, although it feels less 'traditional', is soooo much better built! They feel night and day when I drive them back to back, the doors on the W140 are like a bank vault in comparison...
🤣 Hoovie ain't havin'nothing to do with that *SSR*
You can see it written all over his face! He's like "Get me out of this thing ASAP" and no matter what positive thing Bob says about it, Tyler immediately shuts him down 😂
why would you want to have anything to do with it, i'm happy someone likes it but i wouldnt touch one with a 10ft pole

in a w140 expert - right off the bet you said you can tell by the wheels its not a 95 or older. There are pre facelift models that come with the same wheels. This wheels were actually the standard wheels for many S320, S420, S500 and S600 in North american market.
Yeah, it's the side mouldings and lights design the main exterior difference to tell a first restyle from the original model.
The early 91-93 are the best for me because of many details that were then lost for costs saving. Specially the 91 has some exclusive details that the rest lack.
The big problem with the early versions was the biodegradable wiring.
