In this video I take you to the range to see how my 300 Weatherby shoots the 180 grain Nosler Partition P.PT. I also take a Savage Model 12 in 308 Win to the range. / reloadingweatherby
After my experience in Wyoming last season, I am going to take my .300 Wby next year. Not sure if the Barnes TTSX in my .257 Wby didn't expand on that mulie or what, but I had only a scant blood trail to track, that eventually ran out. Going to load 180 grain Partition bullets over IMR 7828. I know that will drop the next one in its tracks. Watching them run off and not finding them is an awful feeling.
Great video. I'd like to see what the other charge weights tell you. Good job on properly measuring that group too. Keep us posted with another video. The 300WBY is one of my favorite old sentimental rounds. Just bought a nice Winchester model 70 XTR sporter yesterday and am itching to take it out and see how she does. I'll also use IMR7828 powder as well. That's always been the "go to" powder for the 300wby.
When I had my .300wby, I was using 180gr Nosler Partitions and 75.4gr of IMR4350. When you find your closest group, vary the powder load by plus or minus 1/10 grain and test again. You may get even tighter groups yet with very small powder variations. It's called tuning your loads to your barrel - they're all different (harmonically vibrational).
A good front rest and rear bag will give you true groups, lead sleds will change your poi since the rifle is taking all the recoil, it’s not recoiling naturally like it would on the field on your shoulder. That’s why people have reported scopes breaking and such because all that vibration is staying on the gun as opposed on your shoulder but to each is own.
Hunting in Alaska I shoot either the 200 or the 220 Nosler partitions. Hits moose hard and I feel adequately armed against big bear especially with the 220.
Give a few different Barnes X Bullets a try. I like the 200 Gr LRX IN MY .300 WIN MAG. They withstand the high velocities of the magnums and are consistently considerably more accurate than other bullets in all my big game rifles.Hornady GMX also worth a try.
I got back from my New Mexico Elk Hunt. Shot a good 6X6 with 180 grain Nosler Partitions. The Angle was about 30 degrees down. Hit him in the right front shoulder blade. Bullet went they his joint bone, broke a rib, blew up his lungs and heart, broke left side rib cage bone and exited. One shot One kill. Could not have been more pleased with the bullet cartridge combination. I used Reloader 26, Federal 215M primers, and new Norma Brass. 1st cold shot Chronographs at 3,235 FPS. Rifle has been re-barreled with a Wiseman 24” barrel. It is a sub 1/3 MOA rifle.
I have had great luck with the Hornady 180gr Interlock as well. I couldn't get the Partitions or the Accubonds. I found a lot of 500 Interlocks and have very similar results. The interlocks did way better than any Ballistic Tips I have tried....aka ELD-X
Nosler no doubt is an excellent bullet. I have shot many of them. That said, Hornady is my bullet. I have gobs of of game with them. Hornady Interlock bullets KILL fast!.

The Fourth edition HORNADY loading book has some good load's for a 300 WEATHERBY.
Great job! Now that the groups coming down, I would bet you can cut your groups in half with more fine tuning.
Nice!
The 150 grain barnes X bullet works pretty good too.
My 2 friends load 300wby and love the swift Scirocco bullets too

Whetherby has now discontinued the nosler partition. It was my favorite round to shoot.
I use 79grs ,of RL22 , with a 180 gr Barnes TSX . Knocks hogs right down .
try 190 grn berger hunting bullet. for me it works great
You were lucky to get the bullets. I think the 300 mags shine best with 200 grain bullets and up.
