Wish I could also use this code then I wouldn’t hesitate getting the EP5 I want.

I must have been reading too many ballistic charts , if I remember correctly there is a cartridge called the 7.82 Warbird which is supposed to be just a touch faster than the 30-378 Weatherby recording velocities around the 3700 fps with a 150 g bullet , I've just done a quick google search and apparently it uses "undersize plated bullets so is probably more of a target rifle that and Elk or Moose gun . Still plenty of power in the 300 Weatherby and for a first time out with it I think those are pretty good groups and I'm sure the Elk won't notice the difference between a .5" and a .8" group . 300 Wby Mag is my favorite elk cartridge. I favor the 175 Federal Terminal Ascent, 180 Swift Scirocco II, and 180 Nosler Partition. Norma/ Weatherby Brass, RL 26 (if you can find it), Federal 215M. I built my rifle with a 24” barrel on a Mark V Action. Rifle is sub 1/3 MOA (5 shot group). 1st cold will go from 3,276 (175 Federal Terminal Ascent); (3,254 Nosler Partition); (3,206 Swift Scirocco II). It has never failed exit. It has gone thru both shoulder ball joints, and ribs of a 6X6 bull elk & both shoulder 3/4 scapula shot on a Orxy/Gemsbok). Phenomenal Cartridge. I carried a 300 Win Mag for years. Still love them. However, you don’t have to push the Weatherby to high pressure to get the exceptional performance.
Don’ t be surprised if the Remington Ammo chronographs slower than either the Weatherby or Norma factory ammo. Has to with brass thickness and working pressures. Other ammo manufacturers usually load Weatherby Cartridges down due to some non- Weatherby rifles were chambered without the freebore. This protects them legally.

What height are the rings? I got a vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 that I wanna slap on my 257 Wby not sure what the recommended ring height would be. I got a 0 moa pic rail as well. It’s a MeatEater Vanguard

That last group looks better than a group I did with my 35 Whelen last year. Forgot to tighten the scope and scope rings down all the way before hunting season last year and found out after the season. Still killed a deer with a clean shot somehow 🤣. That vanguard looks awesome btw 👍

I imagine that you will handload for this. Factory ammo, as good as it might be, will be a general solution, even for a proprietary round like this. No telling what rifle it is going into. So, you change seating depth to be a little better and do your ladder test and get to the charge weight that has the least amount of change in MV or point of impact.

The “two shot” zero with the Caldwell Led is the easiest way to zero a rifle. 😊

I would be flinching at the thought of the ammo cost for that

I have had 300 Weatherby since 82. Not notice any recoil when shooting Game. My friends and I take turns shooting Golf Balls 200 Yrds

I suggested the same thing, I shoot WBY and after about ten shots my barrel will be completely fouled with copper and carbon.I clean with abrasives (JB) and the gun really shoots well with a clean cold bore. Weatherby will recommend this process every time. I suggested to who to clean his other WBY and he replied to his personnel experts don't believe in cleaning rifle barrels. This is so not ture, however he will learn.

That 300 Weatherby is a pretty stout cartridge you got to hold on tight it will leave a scope ring on your eyebrow, personally prefer the 300 Winchester mag but the Weatherby will reach way out there
