I was lucky enough being a cook in the army. Whenever Sarge wanted to drag me into a working party, I'd just say "OK, I guess you want lunch to either be late or MRE's."
Sounds like when Mom'd get groceries in bulk on sale, so it seemed like she'd bought half the store and she'd want us to put everything away. Only, you know, military scale.
Currently a PL of a Field Feeding Platoon (yes, we somehow don't qualify for a company), and I tell my Joes to do this whenever the unit they're attached to tries to make them do something stupid when they have work to do. Have not heard any complaints yet.
I dont recall asking you into a working party...😂
what working party? did anyone heard anything about me asking you to join it ?
@JaxMerick Boss move
"appropriate" " potential" and " proportional". Three great stories by TFE
This was when America was a hairs breath from going from “appropriate” to “proportional”!
😂😂😂
I was at NTC, CA doing hands across the desert, they asked for 2 volunteers. Nobody volunteered. They said they were going to pick 2 people, me and another guy volunteered, they told us to get off the truck they had to many people. So we got to hang out at the barracks. My platoon was pissed when they got back policing the desert 🤣🇺🇲
lol my old sergeant had a strategy for getting together those working parties. He'd go up to a group of people and go "who likes ice cream?" and whoever put their hand up was now the working party. What made it ingenious was that sometimes he actually did have ice cream to hand out

@@johngillespie3409just know the marines are the guys too awesome to be the transportation ;P, to be fair though....and just to piss off everybody lol, Marines are just a subsection of the NAVY LMFAO
Navy is the responsible intelligent older brother and the Marines are the gunho, athletic, hyperactive little brother. @@corryburton9834
"I need 2 for a detail."
"What?"
"I need 1 for a detail."
I remember the working parties, but there is a twist. When I was in charge of them the one that constantly volunteered I would give them the day off to show appreciation for it. This got so many volunteers that I had to make it the first volunteer.
You need to do his "America Dismantles Pirate Nations for Touching Their Boats - The Barbary Wars". I know a Marine would really appreciate it.
‘To the shores of Tripoli’ baby!
Loved getting voluntold for working parties!
In 2003 I was stationed at MCBH (Marine Corps Base Hawaii) with the 3rd Marines and our unit deployed to South Korea. We were on a Korean Naval base at first and we met and began training with the ROK (Republic Of Korea) Marines and they were awesome to train and hang out with. They were insane, hilarious and amazing to train and work with.
The mention of Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction secured my sub. A man of supreme taste.
Another MAN OF CULTURE! Mercenaries was such a great game.
I was thinking the same. I played the hell out of Mercenaries Playground of Destruction.
The best time I had on a working party, First Sergeant, walks in, "I need three volunteers," Me being bored stood up as did two others. First Sergeant smiles. "You three guard the barracks. The rest of you get your butts on the PT field we are mowing today. "
We spent the entire day watching TV and relaxing in the barracks.
Yooo, Mercenaries 2!! Goodness that's a blast from the friggin past. Played the heck outta that, to the point the disc was too scratched to read anymore unfortunately. Miss playing it lol
I was pfc for life so I was always in the working party. I kind of liked it that way because anytime something needed done I was the first they would go to.
I always volunteered for working details. A lot of good opportunities came of it for me as a result.
You react to "Working Party" so I have to refer you to another thing that was big in my early days in the military: the "Hey you! Roster."
That was a really good impression of Nixon lmao
The US is chaotic and it is hilarious
great point about the working party lol, I was in a few, then i was a PSG and made my own. usually for putting up triple strand concertina wire, sandbag details etc, never for trimming a tree that could start world war tree lol
Still have the nightmares of the call of WORKING PARTY
One of the reasons I enjoy following your reactions is you don't edit out the ads from videos and encourage us to check out and watch the content creator's videos and support them. My hat is off to you.
You say North Korea being dark at night is a bad thing but just imagine being able to actually look at the stars without having to leave the city.
My favorite was the soldier took 30 tabs of meth to break trail but when the troop stopped to rest he took off and was found two weeks later and over 200 kilometers away
I never understood the party part....i didnt have any fun. No one thought it was a party. I took the advice of my CO in basic...."You already volunteered once, dont volunteer twice."
Gerald Ford was probably advised by Curtis LeMay.
The hotel California of the military world, working parties.
I never knew anything about this & now I'm thinking maybe I judged Ford too harshly.
President Ford and his wife also founded the Ford Modeling Agency, now known as Ford Models. Actual freaking fashion models. He was a male model at one point.
What Nixon did was trivial compared to what various Presidents do on a regular basis now, much let "get away with." Clinton heard he was getting impeached, he said, "Hold my beer and bring me another intern."
Kit you just scored bonus points with me, man.... What of my favorite interactions between support character and main character." Just think about this like a glorified babysitting job.
Why would anyone sit on a baby?"
If visiting Korea, I'd be a Seoul brother as well
Okey I’m on my wey. Special delivery!
"hey i need a working party!" Shame mode activate
The key to escaping "working parties" is to volunteer for every last one. Yes, sometimes you will get literal shit burning details. However, if you have good NCOs, they will keep you off those.
Burn pits though. x-x
This Nixon impression brought to you by charlston chew
North Dakota and North Carolina are good for me!
if i have not said it already, thank you for your service
Hey kit he did a video on how a group of marines beat DARPA’s AI
I too, have been "voluntold" that I must immediately assume "zombi mode". No brain, memorize minutia of instructions to legally follow those instructions without actually doing anything. Gator Navy Veteran
Y'know, after learning that the two American soldiers were brutalized in horrible fashion in that crag, one of them somehow being alived after chopped up by an Axe head, I can see why Ford decided to make a show that told the North Koreans that we were ready to make South Korea into an island.
Especially since after the korean war, the North Koreans had a propensity to fuck around. Remember: "Temper, Temper."
never watched a single episode of the Simpsons lol
What do YOU mean "you people?" 😂
One day I gotta dust off my ps2 and replay mercenaries 2
Hey, i need a WORKING PARTY!!!
Actually, Nixon wasn’t going to go to prison, because he resigned, so he wouldn’t go to trial.
Sitting Presidents aren't prosecuted for crimes while in office until they've been Impeached. There is an argument that even an ex-president can't be prosecuted for crimes until impeached, but in general they're viewed as now-prosecutable once they leave office...so Nixon would still be susceptible to prosecution despite having left office. Ford saw side-stepping the trial and political idiocy as worth losing any chance at election.
Yeeeeessssssss!
Ugh… working parties. Fuck volunteering, you’re being Volun-told!
It _was_ funny. It wasn't _great_ but it was funny. 😁
Rah!
That Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction plug was gold🤌🏻. Still regularly play that game on Xbox lol.
