Pool's son was listed as MIA during the Vietnam War and his status was changed to KIA when his body was recovered in 1995.
Oh, god. That sucks
As an amputee I assure you we all find fun uses for our spare parts
Respect. As someone with all original parts, “spare parts” seems like a good way to add humor to that situation.
@@stevenmiller7043 you cant grow back body parts but you can grow a sense of humor, plus if anyone feels awkward around you it helps if they know you can take a joke
@@josephfoster5593 You seem like a fun dude. I’m fortunate enough to still have all my OEM parts, only needed a few repairs here and there. Hopefully it stays that way, but if not, I know how I will refer to it. Lol
Hope you have opportunities to prank the unknowing with your spare parts like Wardaddy and get some good laughs out of it.
When I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed I just got done watching a rerun of Mad Max Fury Road the day before and got a fun arts in craft idea into my head. I took a dremel drilled some holes in my removed teeth and some deactivated 7.62x39 and made a necklace of human teeth spaced with bullets.
Hung it on my wall and whenever friends would come over they would ask why I had a necklace of human teeth and bullets.
I ended up moving so its in a box somewhere now but I get a chuckle thinking about a scenario where a future girlfriend is going through my boxes and finds it.
@josephfoster5593...the Late Bill Veeck, who owned the Chicago White Sox(among other teams), was a WWII veteran and amputee. He wore a peg leg prostectic, and had it hollowed out so he could use it as an ashtray for his cigarettes.
In his video about Lewis Millett, TFE said Millett was fined $52 which is about $1,000 today. So War Daddy owes that guy just under $800 today.
my guy... 1000 dollars in back then money is way more than 800$... you did your math wrong...
@crustybomb115 he did his math right. You read his comment wrong. $40 back in the 40s is worth between $700-$800 in today's money
@@crustybomb115put down the weed or the keyboard. You can choose which you’d rather keep.
Which likely came from gambling debts
As a Veteran, I can confirm that the price listing for all the stuff when you get out is stupid. Reason why most veterans have ridiculously terrible credit and no one who never served will ever understand unless they see this video about it.
Hearing the Fat Electrician describe Jailbird as "only" 5 foot 6....hurts my soul
I mean....I think the average height for an American male is 5'9"? but still, I feel that. I am among the shortest of my family (Ignoring an aunt and two cousins I don't see often, so....)
I'm 6'7" homie. Trust me, you have it better.
But he was, for sure, a short king!
@@sashadrincic7895I don't envy you man. I'm 5'11 and I thought I was gonna be a short shit. My mom is 5'2 and my dad is 5'6. If I didn't look exactly like them I'd be asking who the milk man was.
@@sashadrincic7895 I'm 5' 9" and trust me when I say how hard it is to keep a straight face in the army when they take your measurements and say 69" inches. Nice.
They arent skulls, they are heads of the driver and the assistant wearing their googles and helmets. LOOOL
There are ways around the gear when you're getting out, have a friend in supply that hooks you up. Supply and the armory are two places where cultivating a friendship can go a long way towards making your life easier.
If ypu removed HALF of government incompetence and beurocracy, our military would be twice as big as it already is
Every time a solder PCS's (Permanent Change of Station- gets transered somewhere else), they have to "clear" (outprocess) CIF (Central Issue Facility- where you get all your gear/stuff). It usually takes 2 days. 1st day they take most of your gear, the second day is to return stuff you forgot, was dirty and you cleaned it, AND to "Stratigically Transfer Equipment to an Alternate Location (S.T.E.A.L.) what you're missing. Now, if you're married and have Government Quarters (housing)? GOOD F'ING LUCK!!!! Just wait until you see THAT "Statement of Charges" (the bill).
Yikes. Absolutely yikes.
@@AmericansLearn When "clearing" my Governement Quarters, it got rejected on "cleanliness". There was dust on top of the motor that was under the refrigerator. AND the tracks for the window sill/frames needed to be cleaned out.
@@TheRagratus good GOD that's wack
Yessss don't apologize for your frustrations. I love your voice of reason. You are the true voice of the people
40:06 Oh if you want to learn some crazy shit, look up 'Japanese Trophy Skulls in the Pacific Theater'.
He wasn't about to let his health take him out until he knew his men made it back safely
Don't sweat the profanity, sometimes it's appropriate, and you're right! It just shows your passion, you keep being you!
As long as I can keep it out of the first few minutes of a video, I guess it's fine, lol
I was in the Army National Guard and you cannot sue the Government if you are a part of the Government. So, when you get out anything that is missing. You have to pay and there is no negotiations about the bill. It is what it is and that is it.
Wel My lovely young bartender, once again I learned from my favorite two Educators. I wish I would have known WO4 Pool was alive in 91. I would have tried to add him to my hero worship list. Very few Old timers on it and It grows short. No new Officers, hard list for them to make.
TFE taking youtube and history by storm!
He deserves all the success he gets and more!
In the game World of Tanks there's a medal you can earn called the Pool's Medal for destroying 10 or more tanks in a single battle, which is one of the hardest medals to achieve in the game.
The reason they didn't tell "War Daddy" or Jailbird" why he was being all the way to the rear is because they didn't want "Jailbird" snapping and going on a sui***e run and get himself KIA as well. Since he was the soul surviving son his days were done, he was the last male of the family and thusly was the only one to be able to carry on the family name. The military is funny like that, it seems to not care at most times but when it is truly important they show that they do care. I hope that helps you to understand why they did what they did.
thanks for explaining, it does help.
@@AmericansLearn It's because of another story in Woeld War II where all 5 so s of a family, the Sullivans, were on the same ship and that ship ended up being sunk with all 5 being KIA. The military(and as far as I know, it is still policy today that siblings can't be on the same ship as a result) wanted to do everything they could do to make sure that no other family would have to go through something like that.
Regarding eyesight, Lasix was first developed back in the late 80s by the Navy to help stop losing pilots who cost several million dollars each to train only to get downchecked a few years later due to failing eyesight. I have a copy of the original dissertation on the procedure.
Touching on the chain of command, imma paraphrase what Lincoln said: “in order to test a man’s character, give him power”. And very few people can handle that kinda drink and not go fast n loose. And side note…. Yea, friendly fire was absolutely atrocious in WW2, especially when it came from the air
45:10 The reason the Army wanted them off the front is
A. They can be heroes at home and help generate for funds for the military
B. They were famous now and if something bad happened it could hurt morale, people like Lafayetta are a blessing and a curse because while yes they kick ass, in the grand scheme of things their deaths would have done more damage then removing them and sending them home does
Too valuable to lose
I mean, I understand the optics of it all from the people in charge's perspective. I get Command wanting heroes that everyone knew to come back and do war bonds. But I DON'T understand why they thought those specific men THEMSELVES would be okay with that or want it.
The "Unhealth care system" catch-phrase comes from the early videos Nic did.
In the past he had it on merchandise in his store and it may still be there. I haven't checked recently.
War bond sales were important for buying military equipment and allowed the civilians to feel they're helping.
Also, sending the best crews home to train new crews pays dividends in better new crews.
Couldn’t wait for this one!

$40 today is $876.42
My heart skipped a beat and felt a disturbance in my wallet by just seeing this.
There is a clip from the unsubscribed podcast where they talk about trophy skulls collected by Americans in the Pacific theater. Worth a watch.
she got the heavies
To be fair at 1 point in the pacific theater the marines had to be told to stop collecting Japanese skulls and bleaching them to send home as trophies
You cant tell jailbird. Reason if he knows it was preferential treatment and something happened to his crew he would have survivors guilt. One of the hardest things to deal with.
Also, you just tell him his brother died in combat, he's gonna try to kill EVERYTHING.
$40 in 1941 is $870 today. What did bro bet on?!
God forbid you lost your ACOG or had it stolen on deployment and they charge you whatever they decide it’s worth that day for a new one.
I enjoy your takes on these videos.
Was that "I've abandoned my boy!!!" a reference to There Will be Blood???
" Red Ramage" medal of Honor, Submarine commander ( aka team effort) Just putting that out there!
Wait a second, I know you fro DBZ abridged!
welcome to the second channel!
Well hell give me a tank I could parallel park it in NYC also😂😂
I think he meant parking the Sherman without flattening anything 😂😂
As a person holding a black belt in Tang Soo Do, I can attest that we match skill with those we're sparing with...until the person crosses the line and actually tries to hurt us.
No one tell her the marine raider trophies from the pacific islands
You have to review "America's first anti-hero, Jake (McNasty) McNice" Fat Electrician.
No, they take them out of the lines because they are so good, they can revolve back to the state To pass on the experience and Training to get even better trained troops back into the fight
30:54 that’s what happens when a government contract comes in. Companies jack the prices of everything because they know they’ll get millions from it and the government doesn’t give a s-t because technically they aren’t paying for it. The taxpayers are.
John Thomas- John Adams/ Thomas Jefferson, Lafayette Greene- Marquis de Lafayette/Nathanial Greene. Oh yeah, his parents knew what they were doing.
I got schooled by my coach when I was 15, he was 21 and couldn’t fight due to multiple eye injuries… I cracked him once, he said SWEET! Don’t do it again… I did, he proceeded to beat me in a 360 around the ring without me leaving the center. I learned two lessons that day.
You have to check out his video about the Marine Corp Fighting Duck , yes the Marines had a duck they would actually take into battle
Wardaddy was strong like a bull, he survive 3 morfin injections.
I though this was two channels this whole time lol
because the chain IS actively working against the men. sometimes its incompetence sometimes its to advance their career. "playing politics" is a common slur said about the upper chain quiet often and for good reason.
It’s because of the Sullivan brothers. Five brothers all died on one ship during the Battle of Guadalcanal. 😢
8:19 you don't want to wear contacts into COMBAT. Way WAY too many ways that goes sideways that are easily sidestepped with glasses.
17:00 You think you're bad enough to hang with the big dogs and you take your lumps without crying when you find out how wrong you are.
22:44 Training is training and it's important, people actively trying to make you DIE is another level of training entirely. That tends to separate those who simply learned the lessons from those that KNOW. It also tends to sort for LUCK. Put all that together in one crew and you get guys like this. It's one of the main reasons vet units are so very dangerous. They are all used to being the main character but recognize they can get written out of the story if they slip at all.
26:14 Driving that tank into the lake was PROBABLY the reason he did not receive the Medal of Honor.
31:24 ya there is a solid way to fight it. Getting KILLED in combat is the only way to win that argument though.
43:27 Your reaction to "Maybe, just maybe they'll wear it for us." is exactly why we watch. And I strongly suspect why he say's things like that.
50:36 Remember that tank he drowned?
Plus/minus 870 dollars in 2024 dollars
the navy pays $200 for the same u-shaped toilet seat you see in every school and office building. $17 at lowes
Longsword? Rapier? What brand of HEMA are ya into?
You haven't heard of Jack Dempsey? Unacceptable. You need to look him up
I feel that bad eyesight life. My vision is so bad that when I got them replaced the doctor called the place where I got the actual glasses and basically said he needs these so bad and he needs them immediately I had the glasses within an hour or so. Like maybe two feet from my face I can't see without my glasses
Also your an incredible presenter of some.of my favorite CZcams content keep healthy lovely lady and keep the glass handy. Ya never know when someone deserves a long pour and a short drink.
Yeah, there is no way to fight the military for that
Hell they can remove the natural lenses in your eyes and replace them with, artificial ones lol
Shit there was a army soldier on TikTok he was getting out and everything and got a list and bill for money he had to pay for equipment he had if I remember correctly it was over $1000 here’s the thing he was apart of the Afghanistan withdrawal and the equipment he had to repay for was the equipment he was ordered to leave in Afghanistan when they withdrew.
There have been a few that got bills for thousands of dollars because their helmet or body armor or other gear was useless/damaged… because there were holes in it or blood on it… because they were shot…
War Daddy or Suger Daddy, your choice ladies....
Let's go!
That's why you have superior, they know the best! And when you do something without command and it is a success - guess who takes the honor "I told her to do that, can I have a raise?" and yes if yo lose something during your tour or on the field you pay for it. That's why there's army shops - get new stuff cheaper b4 you checkout from where ever you are.
And the bulletproof west etc. is made in US prisons.
Time for the petition for a reaction to Fury
Damn Lauren......
You know that faking your eyesight when you need glasses can actually make your eyesight worse. Because you are now often straining a squinting to either see or read something.
I do wear glasses and contacts. My vision is absolute TRASH. My glasses are set at about -12 right now. But yeah, sometimes when things are small, or on screens, it's still hard to read. But the doctor didn't want to up my prescription further if they didn't absolutely have to.
@@AmericansLearn I do Understand were your coming from I wore glasses most of my life till I got Lassic about 10 years ago. I know not everyone can get it, or even afford it. But I think it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
@@QBITASSASSIN I've considered lasik before, but the last time I talked to the doctor about it (granted, two years ago) they were not certain that I would be a good candidate, mostly because my eyesight was continually getting worse, and they like it to be a bit more leveled out. They also said I'd probably still have to wear some kind of correction, which just feels like a waste. However...I've heard that things have improved, so it might be time to check in again,
Animated Lauren is always adorable. 😀 Just wanted to start with that bit of silly admiration. 😛
Admittedly, Lafayette's brother got kind of a raw deal on his name, especially since John Thomas is a British slang term for a man's dick.
The Lauren rant mid video touches on my greatest irritation: the greatest villain in any story will be the bureaucracy that is supposedly on your side. The government keeps expanding bureaucracy in everything it touches and as a result every citizen's life is made worse. Doesn't matter if you're in the military, trying to be a good teacher, trying to help people in a hospital, all of these and more uphold the maxim that whatever the government is "improving" with excess bureaucracy is made much much much worse.
Also, I will have to say that two of the three best managers I have known were restaurant managers, but they were awesome for the simple reason that they considered themselves front line personnel. In my first restaurant job the manager that I worked for in my late teens back in the 80s at the faculty restaurant for the local university would run trays to the buffet, bus and clean tables, wash dishes, and even help on the cook line. Wherever we were needing an extra hand, he was right effing there pitching in like it was his job. I mean, he ruined me for restaurant work after that.
My brother in law was the exact same way as a restaurant GM for over twenty years before the ridiculous demands of corporate types who knew nothing of the job got him to quit that line of work altogether.
I remember how watching the managers at later restaurant jobs in my early twenties just pissed me off. Quit painting your nails and chatting with your friend cos the hostess is having to wait tables and be hostess and the rest of us are running ragged. One night I was washing dishes, waiting tables, cleaning tables and taking out trash while the manager chatted breezily with someone for over an hour on the work phone without a care in the world. I quit after that shift was over and never worked restaurants again. But you can bet I tip well when I'm eating out.
Admittedly, the reason for taking the best guys they have out of the fight is that these guys are legends, known names, and it is generally thought to be a better boost for morale to tell heroes, "You've done all we have asked of you and much more. Your time is done." than it is to have the average G.I. see their heroes, men who have gone and done more than was ever thought possible, continually thrown back into battle time and time again until they are killed or crippled.
Another example of this was that the Army Air Force had plummeting morale during the middle part of the war as bomber crews were sent on dangerous bombing runs again and again and again until the crews felt like they were in Hell because there was no end to the missions until they died. This led to the 25 missions rule where, after 25 bombing missions, a crew was effectively 'retired' and didn't have to go on another mission for the remainder of the war.
Thus, at this late stage of the war and considering the casualties the ground forces were taking, it seemed like a wise move for both morale on the battlefields and for fund raising at home to tell these heroes "You've done enough. We aren't going to ask you for more."
Jailbird was probably given the whole story once he was pulled away from In The Mood II and his crew. But that wasn't really something one wanted to spread among the rest of the front liners at it could cause morale to drop. When everyone's favorite enemy, stupid bureaucratic bullcrap, took your buddy to the back lines, well, that crap was normal and you all just griped about it and went on. SOSDD, Same Old Stuff, Different Day. No potential morale hit, other than missing your buddy. War Daddy probably agreed to stay back because he needed to find a new loader, and that could take a bit. He was the Golden Boy, but he would still need time to determine who wouldn't remotely be able to fill Jailbird's shoes. He didn't get him, but unfortunately Pvt. King wouldn't get the chance to develop his kills. 😞
Fury was a good movie, but the story of the real life War Daddy is SO MUCH BETTER. Kudos as always to Nic, The Fat Electrician, for teaching us all about heroes we wish we'd known about sooner, and kudos to Lauren, Kit, and AmericansLearn for exploring these stories with us!

So besides morale and generating funds to keep the rest of the military going. One reason yo pull your best people is to make them teachers of the next generation. You want the beat teaching so that their skill will hopefully be past on.
