    Video descriptions:
    0:00 Intro
0:04 The customer or another shop put the brake calipers on the wrong sides
0:32 That's got to be one unhappy ECM
0:44 Almost a final destination moment for this customer
1:05 That filters definitely seen a lot of miles
1:20 Wonder how long it's been like this if the customer didn't even notice it
1:39 Customer States "I've got a knocking noise"
1:46 Could be a pulley tick but either way it's a bad sign
1:56 A thousand more miles and they'd have a nice 2 piece wheel
2:04 Mechanic was doing a valve cover gasket on their parents car, somehow the sparkplugs were still working fine like this
2:22 Really lucky nothing major happened as this could've gone a lot worse
2:37 You VS the guy she tells you not to worry about
2:48 Customer States "After I replaced battery, now my car struggles to crank and start"
3:00 Customer somehow said nothing about their brakes having issues
3:06 Other mechanics said it's literally easier to just buy a new junkyard engine than to fix this
3:18 Basically will need a whole new front end
3:29 Most customers like this drive it till it fully overheats and destroys the engine lucky this one stopped
4:01 Well I think we found what was causing the sound...
4:10 Came in for an oil change but the mechanics found a built in water fountain
    4:21 Outro

A customer once was bragging to me about how well he took care of his car. He had to drop 2 grand in repairs from a lack of maintenance. I told him if his car was a dog it'd have chewed off is leg to get away from him. He was a good sport about it. He thought I was joking. Good times. My pet peeve being a mechanic was customers would look me right in the face and lie. The truth is always best. We're trained forensic investigators. We're gonna know what you did, just admit it so we can get to the real issues.

2:23 a similar thing actually happened to me too about 20 years ago. except it was some metal box shaped piece that fell off the bottom of a semi and right in front of me on the highway… where i was in the left lane and the were road construction walls up so there was no where for me to go to get out of the way, nor enough time to slow down without causing an accident with the person behind me, despite everyone being stuck going 45mph…
completely destroyed my driver’s side wheels. not the just the tires. the entire wheels. still have no idea what the hell that metal cube shaped piece even was 🤷‍♂️

Customer brings in a vehicle that leaks everywhere, one front tire has no rubber left, and the engine is smoking.
Customer: I feel a slight rattle at highway speeds and Im getting bad gas mileage.
Can you check the fuel filter?
Tech: ( looks flabbergasted at how the vehicle is still running, sees the chassis rusting apart, being held together by duct tape and jb weld) sir, you have these problems that need to be addressed.
Customer: I just want the fuel filter replaced.
Tech: that vehicle is going to kill you and everyone else around it.
Customer, standing there with eyes crossed and drool coming out of his mouth, states" my parents were brother and sister and the vehicle looks good to me.
Tech: looks at camera"customer declined repairs, we called the cops".

That nissan sentra at 2:55 hit way too close to home. All have them have that problem for no reason, you need shims for the battery posts and you have to change them every so often. All because they couldnt make the right size terminal on the cable. If its loose and you hit a bump the car shuts off

      So...
It might be worth having it inspected. But I'd be ready to drop that sale _instantly_ if it turns out to be a knock.

  • @nhbountyhunter
    @nhbountyhunter Před 4 měsíci

OK... 90% of customers would not let their brakes go all to hell if the price to have them replace was not so much. We all know that a full set of pads and rotors for the average vehicle is around $300 and then the book gives you like 6hrs for a complete job. That is $1000 if you don't make a ton on parts. Most brake jobs are simple and take 2-3hrs. You can really help a customer out be charging actual labor time not book. I believe more people would not go some long if that was the norm.

There was one particularly hot summer when I was a teenager where I got Taco Bell and accidentally left it in my car because I was in such a rush. I ate all of it just left some trash and crumbs in the bag. I came back after being away for two days to find my sunroof vent drain got clogged and because it a vw that meant all the water from the rain went into my passenger floorboard. There was so much water it overfilled the front floor board and traveled under the passenger seat and into the back floor board. I used a shop vac to suck all the water out and treated my car multiple times for mold. Killed all mold that grew and stopped more from growing with no electrical damage at all. I got lucky but because the smell was Taco Bell infused with mold and maggots I didn’t eat Taco Bell for years after that point. I tried it out after three or four years for the first time after the maggots and almost threw up and have since just stayed away from it. I’m lucky that the only thing in my car at the time was the bag of Taco Bell and I like to keep my stuff clean or else the car might’ve been just dropped off at a junk yard and never used again.
