  • Zack Snyder's Justice League aka The Snyder Cut has finally been released on HBO Max. And in this video, we are going to compare it to the Theatrical Joss Whedon Cut of Justice League from 2017.
Its Justice League vs Justice League. Is Zack Snyder's Justice League, The Snyder Cut superior to the Joss Whedon Justice League, or is it somehow worse?

Like Snyder said during the production of JL in 2016:
"Man of Steel is about father figures, BvS is about mother figures, & Justice League is about family."
And Snyder Cut is indeed feels like it's about family. We can see the journey of these ragtag team from different backgrounds, starts from not finding a common ground to finding the common ground & from sloppily fighting the bad guy to defeating the bad guy in a perfect sync. Snyder Cut feels like those superheroes are more than a team. They're a family.

This actually makes Jason's casting a giant plus-he looks and acts like a tough dude, but he definitely has a heart and does care, and is a lost soul. Spoke more volumes about his character than the stupid "lasso of truth" exposition BS scene.

But when he did it, being that I didn't like him as Flash, I was like okay, he'll work for The Flash. One of the best scenes in superhero cinema. I watch that scene repeatedly in the film. Junkie XL's score, the speed force, the emotion, what the Flash can truly do, the meanings and the heroism.... it can only be described as EPIC. Whedon's trash can't compare with this epic undertaking.
I can't stand Whedon. He clearly looked to butcher DC and he went full on hack with his ego & ugly personality. He couldn't have cared less about the product or the actors and staff as everyone did their best to be professional. Glad he didn't get away with it his garbage and Ray Fisher stood up to his foolishness and many others came around him and supported him and backed up what he was saying in telling the truth.

When Bruce finally returns to Earth he singles out Natasha to give her a compliment and Natasha looks like the love of her life just entered the room. Then Falcon points out how awkward it is, you know, due to the fact that he had been gone for so long without anybody knowing what had happened. The relationship is also referenced in Ragnarok when Hulk sees the recording of Nat. Bruce also reacts to it with longing eyes. You are pretty dumb and silly person. Endgame was the only movie that definitely put an end to that romance, despite Bruce getting fed up with the conversation on the dock and Hulking out on that bench. They still had intense feelings for each other and it is so obvious.

Besides that, there have been reports that he was abusive and unprofessional on-set, which isn't hard to believe, considering similar claims are coming from the cast of Buffy and his ex-wife's accounts of his affairs with people working under him. Batman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman aren't supposed to 'hurt people'!"_ 🙄 OR you have those reviewers who act like they 'liked' the film, but then proceed to be SO overly nit-picky that it's obvious they are trying to be seen as some "intellectual film buff" by acting either overly bored, or just overly neurotic about details. One of the significant contributing factors to the vast disparities between these two versions is WB’s lack of commitment to any real long term plan for their DC properties vs their delusional expectations of gratification through a quick financial return. Joss Whedon, when he is on his game, can be amazing. From the end result on this film he seems to have been hired solely to “Wehdonized” what he could of Synder’s film. A thankless task all around.
WB has been floundering around with changes of direction since their entry into the Extended Universe concept without any self reflection on their part in the debacles several of the choices have caused.
I’ve watched both versions back to back and the runtime criticism doesn’t stand up. A good story is worth whatever time is needed to engage with it. The Synder JL was infinitely more gratifying experience for me than the mandated two hour version Whedon provided.
The Ultimate Edition of Dawn of Justice is thirty minutes longer, but significantly better story wise. Synder was laying groundwork for his vision of an Extended Universe, presumably a long term endeavour, which initially had WB’s commitment. Disney was smart enough to invest in their future potential for Marvel (perhaps partially due to Stan Lee’s involvement?).
WB seems to think changing the deck (either cast, or directors) alone is a substitute for their responsibility to make a sustained, committed effort at intelligent storytelling. A pity they haven’t seen that Marvel’s success thus far has been built by acknowledging that a committed fan base arises from intelligently written and creatively presented stories developing identifiable characters instead of randomly assembled thumbnails, however slick such rubbish is presented.

Barry's "I need friends" line was a symptom of Barry still not being able to take control of his life and future at the start of his character's arc. Batman appears to him at his home uninvited. Batman asks him to join the team. And without question or consideration he accepts what was offered to him.
In jail his father tells Barry he can't keep running in circles, which metaphorically was exactly what Barry was doing during the final battle. He was running in circles only to get worn out, shot down, and ultimately fail.
It was only then that Barry truly took control of his future when choosing to risk his life by running straight into the void/explosion. At the start of his character arc Barry said he needed friends, but by end it was his friends who needed him.
NONE of this was in the 2017 train wreck. IMHO what WB and Joss Whedon had done to the first ever Justice league movie was a crime against film history.

It’s very clear that all of the people who say that ZSJL is worse than Josstice League are one of 3 things.
    1. They don’t like that fans got the movie made. I’m talking to a certain group of people *cough* Rotten Tomatoes *cough*.
    2. They like marvel so much. They hate a movie that’s DC and it’s doing well.
    3. They haven’t even watched the movie but everyone loves to hate this movie. So they’re hopping on the bandwagon.
And even if they do watch the movie they will go in expecting to hate it. My only hope is they don’t. Like Cosmonaut Variety Hour. He thought he’d hate the movie. But he didn’t. Now I know ZSJL has problems. The runtime, and a certain theme are my only real complaints. I also felt like the scene where Flash rescues iris took a little to long. But other than those nitpicks. The movie is awesome. You can’t tell me that Barry saving a random Russian family is cooler than saving the whole freaking planet!! What an amazing movie.
