Dada saved the future of 🇮🇳 cricket, let alone Bhajji's. He brought in Sehwag, Zaheer, Yuvi, Kaif and Bhajji and many others..... 2011 Indian team might have won the WC, but 2003 WC team is the " DREAM COME TRUE" team. I really wish we get another team like that.

I was always a fan of Sachin, until 2003 world cup the match against Kenya in which India needed 230 odd runs to win, Sachin , sehwag all were gone back to pavilion and then comes Ganguly to save the day and won it for India by scoring century.
I switched off the TV when Sachin got out and thought India would lose, but next day I came to know Ganguly lead the team to win

I lived through it! The aura of Aussies, their invincibility! The theme of the "last frontier"! And then Indian cricket and Ganguly capitancy on the edge and on the line! It was David vs Goliath! And as happened back then, David won! And so started the new rise of Indian cricket! The young indian brigade! Oh loved that series for what it transpired into! In essence, Ganguly enabled the Dhonis, Kohlis, Bhuvis we say today as stars of Indian cricket as he installed the unwavering never say die attitude for which Indian cricket will always be indebit to Ganguly! If I remember correctly, Chandidas Ganguly wanted him to become a footballer and play for Eas Bengal rather than a Cricketer, but He wanted to become a Cricketer because of his brother and hence the switching of Batting Stance as well

It was Chandidas Ganguly who made him switch to cricket. Chandidas Ganguly himself was an ex cricketer (played as a medium fast bowler for Aryans) and was the honorary treasurer of the CAB when Snehashish and Sourav were representing Bengal, respectively.
Later on, Sourav went on to play for Mohun Bagan's Cricket team in 1st division Kolkata league. The story of Tutu Bose signing him for MB not leaving a hint to the rivals East Bengal is one of the greatest stories Kolkata maidan. You can find that on the internet.

An entire episode on Dada's captaincy journey, if not the playing journey, is warranted. Have always been Saurav's biggest fan, so natural for me to request you for something like that. He is an enigma of Indian Cricket as the great Aussie Cricket writer Peter Roebuck called him in his homage to his playing career, back in 2008.

Dada's captaincy wasn't really threatened with the Australia tour as he was a newly appointed captain, Jagmohan Dalmiya was the BCCI president and Australia was rampaging. However, what this series did was to seal Dada as a legendary captain

I can't remember Chennai test 2001 the TV screen but I can remember my father's shouting and joy at last ball Wicket taken by Bhajii Sir...and the fire crackers sound are roaming throughout the Kolkata...

He forever changed the face of Indian youth and cricket.. Love DADA...
