- Finally, here’s part two of our subcompact seven-seater Big Test featuring the Honda BR-V, the Hyundai Stargazer, the Toyota Veloz, and the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. Part one, which covered acceleration and braking, cargo space, and extra features, ended with the Stargazer in the lead. We now have five more tests to go to determine which contender takes the win.
This second and final installment will cover ride comfort, handling, interior space, maneuverability, and value for money (including fuel economy). Just to remind you, all the competitors here are in top-spec trim. The BR-V, priced at P1,390,000 for the VX trim, makes 119hp and 145Nm. The Stargazer, selling for P1,288,000 for the GLS spec, generates 113hp and 144Nm. The Xpander Cross, valued at P1,328,000, puts out 103hp and 141Nm; it’s also the only contender still equipped with a four-speed automatic, while the rest have continuously variable transmissions. Finally, the Veloz, with an asking price of P1,250,000 in V form, boasts 105hp and 138Nm.

It was an eye opening review from you guys. You guys did very well. You scored the cars in significant categories for daily driving. Safety and spacious interiors score big points in my book.
For me Honda BRV-VX is the best and value for money when it comes to Safety, fuel economy and other usable features.
Honda known for quality engine..every 6 months PMS(tipid), smooth idrive, the fastest on it's segment 121PS/145NM, Sporty look,
topnotch interior look..
Other top highlights...
it has ACC(gamit na gamit sa expressway), LKAS, RDM, LDW, ABS, EBD, LCDN, VSA, HSA, ESS, Driving Eco coaching, with DRL,
Auto head light ON/Off with Auto high Beam, Full LED lights, Smart Entry, Remote start Engine, Walk away doors autolock(iwas kalimot i-lock),
Central Doors autolock when set to Drive, 6 grab handles, ISOFIX, Child lock, 6 Airbags with curtain, 6 speakers, Seat belt reminder,
Security Alarm & immobilizer, Anti-theft engine immobilizer, Crash sensor, Door Ajar Warning, Side Impact Beams, Android auto & Apple carplay,
Reverse camera with guidelines, Reverse Part sensors Assist, Full 2nd Row seats tumble Up(more cargo space), Aircon with Quick cool feature,
Right side view mirror Lane Watch camera for blind spot detection.
It also has the best look amongst the rest of the cars. The stargazer might win most of the categories, but man, I just dont like the way it looks
@@californiaboy1254if your buying for looks then don't watch this videos😅
nope
Toyota is the best but Honda is 2nd.
I appreciate this Big Test video. It truly helps the people decide what MPV's to buy and getting the value for their money based on their personal preferences. Thank You!
Because of the Part 1 and Part 2 tests. You got 1 new subscriber.
These kind of tests are the ones I'm looking for. But I think I'm looking for the Ertiga/XL7 for the MPVs. But I really loved this test. Stargazer FTW! 🥳🥳🥳
We love this type of content. Keep it up.🎉
Ang ganda ng series na 'to. Thank you!
Very entertaining review! 👏
Best review that answered all my questions and I now know what to get. I’ll Subscribe
I've been watching many reviews and comparissions already.
So I was already expecting the Stargazer to get the win. Glad to know it did not disappoint.
Hope you will have a comparo review sa creta with other crossovers 😊
Great review guys, you gave me highlights on what vehicle to purchase. Thank so much. Keep it up❤
I love the comparison
very informative, helps me significantly to decide for my next car..big thanks Sirs
We need more reviews like this per segment.
Can you do a 1L Turbo-charged and naturally aspirated sedan comparos for us cheap blokes (Nissan Almers, Toyota Wigo, KIa Picanto, Suzuki Celero, Hyundai and the like) ?
These kind of tests are the ones I look for. No b.s, all facts and real life scenarios. Hope to see more of this.
The Veloz used is the base AT variant, but price mentioned is for top variant. If this was corrected then the Veloz would have finished top in value for money & tech features
Bought a BRV after testing them all. No regrets. Bahala kayo jan sa brand wars niyo. 😊
One cannot go wrong with either Honda or Toyota quality. Their engines and transmissions are simply built to last a lifetime with minimum maintenance. Have an 07 Odyssey with 325,000 miles and 03 Tundra with 250,000 miles; both with original engine and transmission. Neither has been rebuilt; just normal wear and tear parts and fluid replacements.
Yes goods n goods tlga ang Honda..
Honda owner here ❤
But why is fuel efficiency not scored in this test? That's one of the key areas that I'm sure many people consider when getting a new vehicle.
you can already come up with the points since they already gave the numbers. Stargazer still wins
@@jasonaguilar3496welp stargazer is fuel efficient cause of it's ivt but oke, po
I think these MPVs in general are very fuel efficient given its size and their function as people haulers. They drive like sedans.
@@jasonaguilar3496Brv po sir
Thank you for this! We are planning to buy before year-end. I'm going for Veloz ❤
You guys are changing my mind about the stargazer
I noticed on the Veloz during aircon review on the 3rd row seat that 2 flaps of the aircon were down on the 2nd row under the guy wearing glasses. that's why the 3rd row seat didn't feel any airflow of the aircon. even though the other side has 1 flap had straight ahead but that's not hitting directly to the guy on the 3rd row seat.
One of the best comparo video
Guys, @TopGearPhilippines, i gotta say i love this kind of review, it feels organic, and well thought of... watching most if not all the car reviewers in ph, some are very matter of fact, listing all the information like a ppt presentation, others are fun but can be trying way too hard at times. this is a good balance. like the classic Top gear i watch growing up, its on brand that we get to see you guys interracting, agreeing or arguing with each others opinion. tho it would be too costly to always do a large scale comparo. this is top notch stuff! kudos
You’ll have one one day. 😊
Dude makakaroon ka rin tiwala lang
Same dude hahaha sa future magkakaron rin tayo. 🙏🏻
Thank you for confirming my decision to get a Hyundai Stargazer. Test drove it out no lag during shift changes, NVH is great, leg and head rooms are better than expected. ALso tried the Veloz and Expander same feedback as yours. Did not consider the new BR-V at the onset cost muc h higher than the Stargazer. Would have been great if the Stargazer was equipped with a front and rear dashcam to do away with running cables around the unit's interior. IF factory equipped it will definitely be more seamless. . Thanks again.
kapag na include ba yung Ertiga, top 1 ba sya sa 2nd row and 3rd row space?
Going for stargazer.. Thank you
proud and satisfied Stargazer owner, yep!
Is the ride really comfortable? Comfort is top priority for me. I'm planning to buy the Stargazer X this October. Thanks.
why did you guys left out ertiga?
where is the part one?
Thanks for this very honest and straight forward review. Now my mind changed for my 1st choice. I still need to watch some more reviews like this for me to make a final decision which is which. Thanks TGP.
i was hoping you'd include a Chinese brand in the comparo like the GAC GN6 for instance.
kindly compare stargazer vs ertiga..pls
how about try doing a big test with the toyota vios, honda city and the mitsubishi mirage G4
I don't think the G4 is a worthy opponent for the Vios and City. The G4 is more on the same category as the wigo and brio.
Thanks for the Nice review ! big eye opener for us that we made the right choice ! also, please check the note on 27:45 mark, 4th place should be xpander cross and not Stargazer. 😊
Kia Seltos ba halos same price range or ibang group category siya?
Sana you've included tests in other terrains so viewers are able to get ideas as to what would best fit their needs..urban, rural ... countryside.
Nice make more.
Thank you so much for this comparison! I still choose BRV since its just better looking overall. Stargazer’s looks just doesnt appeal to me.
Thank you for this great review! Can you please adjust the volume for each person so they are the same level next time? Thanks!
Stargazer is the best in this match in allmost all categories
And still whos number 1 mpv? I think expander hehe
The Veloz used is the base AT variant, but price mentioned is for top variant. If this was corrected then the Veloz would have finished top in value for money & tech features
More vids like this please! 😁💪
I wanted to love the stargazer but just couldn't get over the face of the car.😢
guys please do this again and include stargazer x, the custin, suzuki xl7 and or the ertiga. Thanks a lot
This has to be the most eye opening car review in the market. Practical use instead of spec sheet battle.
I'm curious as to how aftermarket factors like maintenance and spare parts availability/cost will affect the cars' final rating.
Even if you rank Hyundai as last place for 1 point, it'll still win.
q
Very good review and comparison. For a buyer like me, it is very helpful. I could say that Hyundai listens to this review and came up with a stargazer X. Which definitely runs additional miles away points. 😊
Now, all I can consider now is my monthly amortization of stargazer x and avanza top of the line. I will use this as a delivery business but this will be another story. 😅
Job well done guys! Kudos to Top gear.
After watching this video part 1 & part 2. I finally bought a stargazer.I’ve been considering buying mpv this past few months. Really a big help from you guys.Well appreciated. Thank you.
Nice comparo...
Kindly include after market service in your test.
+1 to this. It's our every day use, that is why we need to set our expectations if in the future those who top are still a good value for money.
We purchased the BRV and are very happy with it
What a nice really, good job to all of you ❤❤❤ alam ko na kung bakit mas gusto ng mga ka officemates ko ang Veloz. good job Top Gear Philippines
Now i want a stargazer premium 😁🙏
Good job with the review guys. Hats off to Stargazer owners - - - that is one solid MPV. Very consistent performer even with other reviews in the region. And super good looking.
Not to take anything away from the other brands. All are awesome units. Really depends on the driver.
I go for the BRV if want something smaller with the bells and whistles.
The Veloz for practicality. This is a good everyday MPV.
The Xpander is still good looking. But based on the review - was little bit caught up with its old format. Good that it has the chance to still improve in later versions I hope.
The Stargazer..well all the good things combined with a competitive price tag and performance. Simple well balanced.
Keep up the good work. TopGear team.
I will go for Toyota over long term ownership and cost in owning/maintenance.
@@jerryching6858really depends on how you maintain your unit. I agree that Toyota is known for durability specially in the PH market, the other brands are not that far off and are becoming very competitive which is good for the market.
@@jasonvillaroman2348m
bro hyundais pms cost is way more cheaper than toyotas... what are you on @@jerryching6858
How can you test or score handling when the driver drives it so slow. You need to use the cones, that is the pros way.
Proud stargazer owner here😊 thanks topgear for the review🎉
Not surprising anymore since even with MPV comparos from other countries like Indonesia, Stargazer won by a mile.
BRV still for me. I love the Gen 2 looks. 😍
Nice comparo
Good Test, but sana nainclude yung kung sino ang good if you are loaded with cargo and passengers since this is a family car. Then yung aftersales parts, yung hindi ka maghihintay ng MONTHS para sa parts and kung gano kaganda yung customer service nila and yung maintainability and quality, baka kasi maganda lang sa una pero after 2 to 3 years lalabas na yung mga sakit agad.
More comparo please.... Isuzu MuX, Nissan Terra and Mitsubishi Montero
i wish the suzuki xl7 is in this comparison as well
Where is GAC gn6?
Sana nagtry din ng 0-60kph using the paddle shifter to see the difference.
what toys are you saying thats lacking on the veloz? Yes it doesnt have the cruise control. +40k for TSS and 360 cam is a great value.
Seems like the Steering wheel for Mitsu still takes a hit even on their newer car designs. Wonder if it's the same design flaw present on their montero's...
Sana may Ertiga/XL7
For me when talking about value for money, fuel efficiency is important ,built quality and durability matter most. Specially for us who can only spend a million maybe once in a lifetime just to buy the best of them
I still chose Toyota, Honda and Suzuki! Fair enough si Veloz and BR-V since both has Toyota Safety Sense and Honda Sensing. Although si Veloz may 360 degree view while si BR-V has none. Power wise mas mataas hp ni BR-V over Veloz. Folding system sa Veloz is fully flat while sa BR-V may lift ng konti for the 3rd row seat. Again Veloz & BR-V still my choice. Including XL-7 in my choice due to its fuel economy and comfort with its suv styling same as the BR-V kahit di kasama sa comparison 😊
The Veloz used is the base AT variant, but price mentioned is for top variant. If this was corrected then the Veloz would have finished top in value for money & tech features
Fair and neutral assessment
Proud stargazer owner here🥰
TBH I am slowly enjoying TopGear a Philippines' reviews and comparisons these days. Hopefully you guys can cover video reviews on more least known cars too!
Sana sinama nyo din suzuki ertiga/xl7, and Nissan Livina. Maybe for another bigger test? But this is really good, showing almost all the aspects of the car. Great job!
Ertiga and Livina inclusion yes as they are compact MPVs but the XL7 is categorized as an SUV so is not of the same category
All cars are designed differently, the only common denominator to each brand are the budget limitation to manufacture each design.
"the best car is the one you liked"
This
still no Ertiga?
Can you make video Kia carens 2024 vs Toyota Veloz 2024
I think you forgot to include the Toyota Rush, together with the XL7

Out of the bunch stargazer is the best transmission makes the 1.5 seem powerful and can manage torque better than the other it's just that gdi engine is bad news🤣 they could've just used the good old port injection.
Part 3 up hill kennon road loading 7 people wu is the best 👌
stop and go on the steepest part haha like the Moladin uphill test of SG in Sitinjau Lauik Indonesia haha
Don't do that, Veloz and Xpander fan boys will get embarrassed. 😂
I have Stargazer ivt gls ..... the best mpv and looking car there. Look like a small spaceship during night. Very unique , ikaw lang meron pag may stargazer ka!
it looks like a mudfish infront. so weird
#4 at expander
If sulit? Go with veloz or SG.
Xpander GLS owner here. Maybe its lacking sa tech pero pro/tenured driver naman ako so I dont need those tech kasi pag driver ka talaga noon pa hindi mo na need niyan. It may provide you comfort but those tech are for newbies. I really bought XP 2023 because of the ground clearance and pogi looks compared to those mpvs out there.
This is my opinion. I respect the review but still Im confident with my xpander especially pag may baha 👌👌
From vios to xpander by the way. Toyota matibay talaga we'll see if matibay din si Mitsubishi.
AHAHAHA this is the same reasoning my dad is using right now 😅 We're currently checking out which car to buy right now since our Mirage has some issues, and we are agreeing on XP Cross (or wait for the new Strada, but I doubt my mom has the patience to wait for it)
I agree. Stargazer maybe we'll for value of money but I can't appreciate its design. It's so weird! lol
We, the “newbies”, will just enjoy these techs sa traffic and especially sa long drives 🤭
@@JSaints47 well my xp gls has auto hold, auto parking brake and cruise control so still not bad
"pro" 🤣🤣
veloz v2 2023 from TH is diffrent from PH's, TH has ACC na. wish we had that.
As mentioned in this Video, Xpander Cross used to do this test was 6 years old making it the oldest... Would it be fair to do the test using the latest Xpander Cross?
How is it 6 yrs old when the car they used is of 2023 version
Even though, the Hyundai Stargazer won but I think the interior looks and Info-entertainment of Toyota Veloz is much attractive...
How come that stargazer got 8 point when handling on the brv is firmer than the stargazer,it should be a tie
To be painfully honest, I feel quite bad for people who bought the 2023 Xpander Cross. Even before watching this grand comparo, I've seen tons of reviews of those featured MPVs and for a hefty price of 1.33 million pesos, it's the second-most expensive MPV after the Honda BR-V but the cheaper Stargazer and Veloz get more features than the Xpander Cross.
And, yes, I can already feel people rebutting at me about the Xpander Cross's high ground clearance, aggressive looks, parts availability..... their top 3 ace cards to be played against other MPVs. They do themselves, but again, again, and then again, most buyers will take into consideration the most the value for money, and the Stargazer easily takes the CAKE, CAKE, CAKE, CAKE, CAKE. (stream cake by itzy btw🍰)
So yeah. All I can say is that it just makes no sense to buy an Xpander Cross on the practical side. Either spend a few more 5-digit pesos for the most-feature packed BR-V, or just go for the Xpander GLS if one wants to get the Xpander line because most features that can be found on the Cross are also available on the cheaper GLS. But then again, best value for money, the Stargazer.
Good point on seriously considering the Xpander GLS over the Xpander Cross for the Mitsubishi buyers.
@@noelhingco8467 yes! You won't miss out too much on the GLS versus the Cross-their differences are just mainly aesthetic/cosmetic.
@@ratstar4102 perhaps the only major disadvantage when buying the Veloz.
@@eyyydoddska kaya nga sabi ko "Kahit ganyan yan" sabi mo kasi "I felt bad?" pano naman yung mga owners ng Veloz na nakatira dun area na my maraming bulubundukin at mataas na humps? Great review! Every car has pros and cons. The only perfect car is the one that you're driving right now. So better choose the one that you think is the best for you. To all the buyers, go do research, visit dealers and do test drives. Select the one that your heart (and budget) truly desires.
the best car is the one you like :)
@@General_Aladeenhaha exactly, Sir! You won’t buy it if you don’t like it
Did I miss anything or did they fail to include performance tests like uphill climbing and the car's response. I mean, these cars are all 7-seater meant as a family and stuffs hauler. Would be nice if they did some tests on that too. On paper, the BRV's 121PS/145NM seems like one of the reasons why the car's price is on the higher end, aside from the bells whistles, but in actual use, does it really spell a significant difference compared tp the others like the Veloz and Xpander with their lower PS/Torque?
Saan si cherry Tiggo 8 pro?
Stargazer or Ertiga?
How about Nissan Livina to be include next time😊
the xpander and the livina is one and the same. no point in including the livina in a comparo where an xpander is present
There's nothing new to Livina, it's just the branding name. It's a copy&paste of Xpander. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I choose Honda BRV with Manual Transmission.
why not included si ertiga?
