  • The plaintiff went to the defendant’s hair salon for some new extensions. She says the extensions and her real hair fell out weeks later, leaving her with a bald spot. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant says the plaintiff was happy with the extensions at first and they looked fine when she left the salon.

    Those tape ins were installed incorrectly AND her hair is too thin for that type of style. The salon should’ve never installed them to begin with. Having tape-ins hang from thin hair can cause traction alopecia because it is pulling in the same area.

      @@jedimasters1462my hair is fine/thin and I can’t wear styles like this. But from the picture to me it looked like that hair was once in the tape in and from the tension over time it pulled out/away from the scalp. When I get the same styles over and over in certain places it causes traction alopecia because less dense hair cannot withstand heavy styles for an extended period of time.

    • @Nellelatrice
      @Nellelatrice Před 2 měsíci +3

      @@lucygreen5101it’s hard to explain without showing you a pic but the tape in should’ve been in small neat sections and the hair shouldn’t have been gathered into the tape in. It looked to me that excess hair was pulled in from the sides so that’s why the bald spot is there. There was extra hair in that tape in that should’ve been in a different tape in if that makes sense.

    it wasn't the stylist. her hair is too thin for tape-ins period. It doesn't matter how far down they place them; they are too heavy for her thin hair. You listened to him and the so called "extension expert" and went ahead and let them put them on her hair. Plus they were the ones who recommended them!! I agree with you. I have read about this in hair articles. The constant pulling of a ponytail will cause the hair to come out. I don't think the weight of these hair extensions is sufficient to pull the hair out. I saw a lady who would wear a very tight ponytail and her hair was falling out. I told her that it was the constant pulling of her tight ponytail that was making her hair fall and she would need to leave her hair loose so it could rest. I think she was unable to do this because she wanted her hair to be neat when she came to work. I was getting physical therapy at the time and she was one of the therapists. I told her in private to not cause her any shame. It took me a while to tell her because I didn't want her to feel bad but I worked up the courage because I wanted to help. Oh well. 😔

    As a black woman who is used to putting all sorts of extensions, tape ins etc… tape ins will not make you get a bald spot. If any damage is done it’s usually at the point of where the tape and hair are sandwich together. Leaving it on too long can dry out the hair that sandwich between and cause it to break. So you will have hair falling out and breaking, but it will fall out 1 inch from the scalp, not out of the scalp. I would know cause it has happened to me many times and I had to cut all my hair off. No biggie cause hair grows back. The judge made the right decision.

      Yeah, I would think common sense would tell you that. But I guess ppl that don’t really have problems with their skin wouldn’t know. I think something with those extensions irritated the crap out of her poor scalp. It was STILL red when she was in court.

    Traction aloepicia means from tension not just pulling. So extendions can cause that because it is tight causing tensions.

    If the extensions were put in to close to the scalp they might rub against the scalp around the extensions but not at the extensions, hence hair lose around the extensions

    Extensions are a pain, doesn't matter if they're tape in or sewn-in. She should have been given instructions on caring for them- careful brushing, sleep in a lose pony tail, and use a light hair oil to keep them from tangling. She may not have been a good candidate for extensions and hair stylists need to be honest. Her hair loss wasn't really where the extensions were placed so it's hard to hold the salon at fault. Since she didn't have them very long, her hair will grow back it just takes time.

  • @vballblocks
    @vballblocks Před 2 měsíci

    So it looks like everyone is saying that the extensions were put in poorly and they never should have been put in to begin with because her hair is so thin. BUT, the hair that came out and left her with bald spots was NOT the sections of hair that the extensions were applied to. They both agreed all the extensions were still in her hair when she came back. The bald spots are from hair that nothing was taped to, right?

    She either brushed too hard or had her hair pulled too hard. Extension don’t come off easy and when it’s forced without the proper removal process it will cause hair loss

  • @carmenultra1
    @carmenultra1 Před 2 měsíci

    She went in because her hair was thin, she obviously has a condition. Hair extensions don’t make your hair fall out from the way you put them. If you’re brushing and combing it, yeah, your hair will fall out.

    That lady was probably combing or brushing those extensions too vigorously. Gotta be gentle with extensions, especially when her hair was likely too thin to support them. The stylists shouldn't have installed them in the first place.

    As a stylist, I've observed that traction alopecia occurs when there's excessive tension on the hair and scalp. This could happen if the extensions are too heavy for her thin strands, causing pulling and eventually leading to traction alopecia.

  • @jayb1854
    @jayb1854 Před 2 měsíci +1

    One jm shouldn't do hair cases no offense to her or they should call an expert to explain the case. But that lady either already had it and the extension made it worse or she found it itchy with constant scratching and caused the bald spots. Her hair was too thin for the weight of having full extensions anyway.

  • @zahknyaa

    Tape-ins only last 4-8 weeks and spending on how oily your hair gets then last even less. INPROPER HOME TAKEOUT will leave bald spots.

    I know, as someone who has fine and thin hair, that extensions are never going to be a reality. The cost involved with extensions should have given her pause to look at everything more carefully. They both are or act clueless.
