He's also married to the very talented AIMEE MANN. ♡
The whole "March" album is a hidden gem - every song is worth a listen. I really hope you check out more of the songs!
An almost forgotten song. Undeservedly so. It is a timeless gem.
Baby, every single song on the whole album!
Absolutely adore this song, Harri ! .. It's one of my all time favourites, and I'm so glad to see it being reacted to.. I love the lyric "We said goodbye before hello. My secrets she will never know." .. It perfectly describes the frustration of a relationship ending before getting to really know each other and appreciating what you may have to offer as a person .. Great writing !
Lennonesque...always dug this one.
I'm a fan of all the Penn Brothers. Sean, Michael and Chris ( who is also an actor, most notably in Resorvoir Dogs)
He is Sean and Christopher Penn's brother.
I have always kept this song on one of my playlists. Great request!
This is such a beautiful song
Thanks for the request, Rob Taylor! Haven't heard this song in decades. Great reaction, Harri!
Loved this song right from the first time I heard it, and don't hear it often enough.
One of my favorites - love the line “with knots I have yet to untie.” Thanks for this reaction! I’m thinking he and wife, Aimee Mann, started their own independent recording label or something.
A very artistic family I didn’t know he had a brother who sang. ☮️
Play “No Myth” and with the drum end transition to Terrance Trent Darby “Wishing Well.” That’s what I hear every time.
hah, yep.
Love this song. A lot days I wake up with it playing in my head.
Absolutely one of my favorite singer songwriters! Great lyricist! 5 albums!! Deep tracks are worth it. Figment is a great one!
Figment is probably his all time best song. Simply superb on so many levels of storytelling.
This is a favorite song of mine. I've loved it since MTV used to play the video back in the day 🖤🖤🖤
simply a wonderful tune
React To "Michael Penn - Try" and "Long Way Down"
Great reaction, Harri! I think you're spot on with pop grunge, and I've always loved the ending, too!
There's an amazing acoustic version of this masterpiece that you should check out.
Nice to see you check this one out. I think it's in my personal favorite top 10 songs that rattle loosely in my head.
Pretty timeless don't you think? Guess I did not know or consider ever who his brother was.
whooo...this takes me back ;)
Been listening to this song for 30 plus years and I just realized yesterday that this is break up song and not a love song. Never saw the lyrics until yesterday.
If you like crowded House, check out something from the Woodface album, it's the only one with both Finn Brothers, so the harmonies are amazing. Four seasons in one day, fall at your feet, etc.
The harmonies are brilliant on “Better Be Home Soon”, “Into Temptation” and others too 😊
Imo one of greatest songs ever. The HIgh quality version is insane. Pop grunge is a great term i like that
Great song
I hear Beatles & Crowded House. I've often wondered why he never had wider success. His album " March" is excellent...but no big follow - up.
Also brother to Chris Penn (rare ‘80s movie “Wild Life”)
Michael had a memorial part in the movie “Boogie Nights”
My first time hearing this. Mighty fine!
He wants on to write for movies music and the show on hbo
"what if I was, I said what if I was, maybe she's just looking for someone to dance with"
I think you'd really like the track Brave New World" from the March album. He also did it on MTV unplugged and it was spectacular.
I always thought it sounded like 1970's Al Stewart - singer of "Year of the Cat", and perhaps a little too late as that sound had passed by then.
Oh id never think its the crowded house man.
Some people are fans of Heathcliff and some are fans of Garfield. Guess we know where this signer stands.
Ive rhought the same thing found later hed had fit in woth the college scene
I have the album. It’s all very good.
I have to chime in with you. The album is a classic.
All his albums are great!
Walter Reed was another good one by Michael Penn.
Great song. Check out the video when you have the time.
New artist for me. Reminded me of Weezer a little in the vocals. Loved the drum beat that seemed to dominate. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Rob. Enjoyable. Cheers from Canada
you should definetly look into more of his stuff... like walter reed...
1st time? You don’t really appreciate it until maybe the 100th time
Grunge 'explosion? You're right, you makes no sense. This is pure pop. There's no thing as Pop Grunge.
