Glen was one of the greatest Rock and Roll Guitarists of the 60’s, playing on hundreds of great recordings as a session musician, along with supporting vocals. Was a member of of numerous Rock groups as well including Sagittarius, Beach Boys, The Champs, The Fleas, The Trophies, worked heavily with Ricky Nelson and Merle Haggard. Played on sooo many hit songs. He never did Learn to read music. He was just naturally talented and gifted. You should Check out the “Glen Campbell - Best Guitar Solos 1960 - 2000’s” video on CZcams. It’s fantastic!

Scott, this was an excellent performance by Glen and the Boston Pops orchestra. Unfortunately, the recording quality was less than optimal. Many people do not know that Glen was a renowned session guitarist who appeared in countless songs and was one of the great vocalists of his time. Superb submission choice and review by Harri.

The song used in the Heinz ketchup commercials in the 70s. So thick compared to their competitors that when you turn the bottle upside down and wait….Anticipation.. She must have made a fortune off that ketchup commercial.

I think that you miss a key point. He is talking very specifically about the men who own the arms industries and make money from arms and death. Strangely enough it was a republican president , Eisenhower, who invented the term the military industrial complex. The same companies share values have riseni in the last few years thanks to the Ukraine and Gaza wars. I

When this song was released I was living about 45 min. Southwest of Thibideaux, La. At the time alligator hunting was banned state wide. In 1967 popualatiion was 100,000. Todays estimate is 2,200,000. 1 gator for every 2 Louisiana residents. I dogged them many times on I-10. Make it count Son.

PS-look at the album cover. . .it's a spoof on a movie. And to the right, you see the second movie billing, "Marx Brothers Go West", a hint on the story I just shared.

Not a single; just a deep cut from this classic album "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player.". The name of the album has a fun story; it comes from a meeting between Elton and , of all people, Groucho Marx. When they encountered each other, Groucho did his usual shooting from the hip humor quipping to Elton, "Your name is backwards; it should be John Elton", to which Elton immediately fired back, "Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player!". Elton immediately realized this would be a great name for the album, and, the rest, as they say, is history! To me, this may be one of the most classic of all Elton John albums, and one of the first ones that come to mind when I think of Elton John.

Love your reactions Harri, but I suppose I’m in the minority here, but to be honest I thought that was one of the Worst performances I’ve ever heard by Glen. Maybe it was just the quality of the audio, (I agree with you about the audio quality) or maybe the over instrumentation that the song really didn’t need. I just thought it was pretty much unlistenable. He was slurring his words, not enunciating properly, and just plain hard to understand him. Sometimes I think that people are just too afraid to be honestly critical. It’s not as if disliking a performance is a personal attack or anything. I guess I thought he was just way Overdoing it. Didn’t seem natural. Seemed “Forced” to me. But hey, I STILL love your channel.
