    Thank you man! I do appreciate your help in choosing coilovers. I've been researching and I found Raceland coilovers which apparently are in the" Budget" area. I have an underpowered car (2001 Celica GTS) and honestly i just want to look slammed..so I'm thinking this would be the cheapest and most reliable way since they're only about $400 + any ideas on Raceland coilovers? All the other budget ones are a a tad more expensive and people make them sound about just as reliable. Thanks once again

    Got an 09 scion TC that I want to handle really well while retaining ride quality that my passengers(normies) won't hate. It also has to be able to handle a sub box without sagging the rear. Budget is sub $1k. I'm trying to keep any "single" part or area under $1k. So, $1k on engine, $1k on suspension, $1k on bass and deadening, $1k on the rest of the system, etc.
    I've looked into drop springs, but am worried they'll settle too far for the stiffer ones/lower ones, or they'll sag ass with the sub box build. The only 'raked' spring sets are Tein H-tech and S-tech. Pretty sure S-tech will be too low for me, and H-tech's are kinda soft(worried about sagging) so IDK. The forums recommended I go with Tein Street BasiS Z's so I can set the height, let them settle, then adjust to there for my preferences. On ebay, they're about $500, so it doesn't seem like a terrible deal for something I'd essentially never have to swap out to get the right stance or because there's a problem with uneven ride height.
    The only thing that concerns me is that they've got double the stock spring rate in them...
    Any guidance, bro?

    JRZ coilovers are amazing, and I met a guy in my 350Z at the road race track that had them on his 350Z. He told me the model he had, looked them up online... JRZ 14 31.. $13,000. No joke. His car is dedicated 110% race car. Even though mine is dedicated as well, I couldn’t justify spending that cost no matter which way you split it.... $2,000 is my upper limit usually, so, I went with KW Variant 3. $2,100 shipped. 0 complaints. 110% amazing results.

    I was looking to get coilovers for my s13. I don’t plan on drifting or tracking the car, maybe occasional spirited driving on the weekends. I plan to keep it clean and have nice fitment not super slammed. Preferably wheel to fender. The coil-overs i plan to get is Silvers or BC Racing ($1k range). Would you suggest keeping the spring rate that comes out of the box 8k front 6k rear or is stiffer springs better at 10k front 8k rear?

    • @TEAMUMAMI
      @TEAMUMAMI  Před 5 lety +1

      Keep it the factory setting rate, if you go stiffer it becomes a bit uncomfortable to drive. If you are looking to get a better comfortable coilover that rides well and performs well (sporty) I would suggest the Apexi ExV
      If you want just lower ride with no adjustability (in terms of Camber and multi ride height) then go with drop springs which is still super comfy to drive on and lowers the vehicle.

    Hey man! Loved the video, I have a 2008 Lexus IS250, it's my daily driver, was looking into BCs. If I plan on keeping the car for its whole life, would you say they're good to get in terms of lasting long?

    • @TEAMUMAMI
      @TEAMUMAMI  Před 5 lety +1

      xaznranmarux Thanks for the support!! Awesome car! I believe in anything can last depending on usage! In terms of daily I believe the BC brand products will last you a very long time, if you are referring to them in terms of full functionality.
      Remember you can make most items last as long as its used and cared for well.
      I dont know how long you plan on keeping the lexus but in my experience if coils last about 3-5 years then its solid for a daily as most people trade/sell their vehicles within that time.
      As for my own vehicles I have the Apexi coilovers on my Nissan 240sx (5+ years) still 100% functioning
      My S13 240sx (Stance coilovers Gr+) for about 3 years still 100%
      And my corolla has the T3 coilovers (3+ years) and still 100%

    Hi, brand new to all this. I have a 2014 Jetta and I want to lower 1" The question is...If I put coilovers on it do the stock springs come out and then the coilover does all the work that the front strut and the spring were doing.
    Thanks

    • @TEAMUMAMI
      @TEAMUMAMI  Před 6 lety

      So you are partially correct. Depends on the coilover kit and what you choose. Most full coilover kits are preassembled and just need fine tune adjustments. To answer your initial question, yes a coilover kit replaces the entire stock strut and spring setup as the coilover comes with its own custom strut, perches, springs, and mounts so the stock setup is compelely eliminated.
      And yes the coilover functions the same as the stock setup but at a much stiffer function which lowered vehicles tend to have. You wouldnt want much suspension travel on a lowered vehicle as your car would bounce like stock and could bottom out or hit the unibody onto the floor. Plus stiffer springs allow for better turning in certain situations

    I know this comment is super late, but what's your opinion of bc br's? trying to find a decent coilover for my daily wrx. Are fortune autos worth the price/wait time over bc's?

    • @TEAMUMAMI
      @TEAMUMAMI  Před 5 lety

      SpaceN3rd i personally would go fortunes only because they are rebuildable and good investment if for long term.
      Now long term to me is defined as how much usage you plan on putting on them. I try to calculate miles, how long I realistically plan on keeping the car, how much abuse I plan on putting it through (track usage)
      Now bc coilovers are rebuildable as well. Depending on model level (from what I can remember)
      The fortunes have a roller bearing option so there is no binding as well for extra $.
      I would ask myself honestly what the car will be used for and decide there. Ive had BC and fortunes and they ride different. Also spring rates and types of springs will make a difference.
      But going back to your comment. If its just a daily and your on a budget and time is short then BC is a good option. I personally would get fortunes. And i will be ordering fortunes for my other cars too

    Hey great video. I have a Vehicle, that is so bouncy on the road even the I set the damping at the softest. is there a solution for this? Do I need to compress the springs on the preload more or less?

    • @Puchuchi747
      @Puchuchi747 Před 4 lety +1

      Too soft, also makes you bounce unnecessarily. Gotta find like happy medium. So it doesnt bounce all the time.... but too stiff, is bad too. I'm no pro, sorry lol hope it helps tho!

    The Vanilla Collection. I need help finding some coilovers for my 05 Honda Civic LX. I am looking for something with adjustability and a good smooth ride. Budget $1000

    • @TEAMUMAMI
      @TEAMUMAMI  Před 6 lety

      Christopher Williams cant have all 3. Lol meaning you gotta pick 2 out of the 3 for car parts.
      Quality / price / reliability
      1000$ is in the budget range and theres tons. Main question to ask yourself is. What is the main purpose for this car?
      For looks? Daily driving? Racing?
      Next ask yourself what is the most important aspect you are looking for in a suspension setup?
      If you just want soft lowered rides for cheap then the easiest would be drop springs

    • @TEAMUMAMI
      @TEAMUMAMI  Před 6 lety

      Christopher Williams if you dont got $1000 go with drop springs first (roughly $100-$200) and easy to install they will be soft still compared to coils which is more comfortable and they lower your car.
      if that doesnt satisfy you and you want height adjustability and is a must and under 1000? Then you will lose comfort but gain looks and affordable price = megans, racelands, d2, godspeeds
      A decent brand is Tein Japans basics coilover kit which iirc runs around at 800. Correct me if i am wrong
      Or save up for BCs or Stance if available. Ebay will have tons of other unpopular brands. I have not tried them all but from my experience you get what you pay for

      mastermelardoz drop springs is the best choice in my honest opinion. Did the same thing to many of my cars over the last decade. Drop springs allow you to lower your car at a set height. So check how much it drops. And its super cheap ($100-300) depending on brand. Install is easy if you have all the tools.
      Plus ride is good for daily driving and very mild racing. It will be stiffer than stock but nowhere near what coilover rates come in at

      You can honestly never fo wrong with cusco!

      Alvin Nemenzo haha tough choices! The Bilsteins are awesome! And that name Trophy Cup makes it sounds really cool.
      But my heart is partially loyal to the Brands of Japan that have made history with vehicles made in Japan. But that is just me, and my complex way of thinking ha.
