Indeed, many big time female rights/anti sexual crime movements (the serious ones, not the social media ones) attacked the series for normalizing sexual and psychological abuse. The BDSM community at large also shot it down, as is misrepresent the intent of the dom/sub relationship - 50 shits promotes maniacal control, instead of the liberation and trust a healthy relationship of this kind has at its base.

Throwing shade through wordplay isn't considered original any more. Honestly, by now every joke has been done fifty times and over.
With such a black and white story about every reviewer has had to incorporate at least one pun to spice things up in their review, so I am honestly greytfull that Alex didn't resort to cheap puns but tried to bring us quality entertainment in these dark times.

The whole "I've changed" and "I want you back" and "I promise!" Are LITERALLY part of a abusive relationship example. In pychology they call it the 'honeymoon phase' where the abuser tries to make the other person feel guilty for leaving them and fall back into the cycle of abuse. Two things to always remember about 50 Shades:
1.) It was posted as a Twilight fanfiction originally.
2.) The co-stars had zero chemistry and actually hated filming together.
The second one is wrong the girl was very comfortable with the guy that plays christian he's married that's where the awkwardness kicks in

I just remember an interview of Dakota Johnson saying she drunk a LOT of whisky on set to get through filming this. 3.) We could’ve gotten a better movie if they just showed it as a horror thriller about a stalker and his victim

I feel like the only person out of my friend group who watched this and felt genuinely bad for his ex, to me she is the very definition of an abused person, but to my friends she was just "a weird ex who couldn't accept its over"

It’s a long story but I read the books, and he bathed Leila in Ana’s apartment because she was filthy. Which is weird and disturbing in a few different ways. There’s some missing details in the movies but it’s all crazy.

I know they saw the first one, but I can't remember if my wife and her friends went to this one. Mainly, they had a few drinks before the movie and were doing a quiet as possible MST3K session with it.
A lot of senior citizens. I have worked at movie theater since 2017 and I remember having a bunch of older couples coming to see this movie and the sequel. I was surprised.
