      I think the thing that aged poorly is mostly the scene of them having to "proove their sex" and the side charackters being shown to love it.
      A) because that‘s litterally illegal in public
      B) It feels transphobic to yell someone‘s sex out to everyone through a megaphone to try to "expose"
      C) them depicting a team capitain suddenly forgetting how to football/ soccer just because she‘s a she. Yes, she wouldn’t be the best of the male team, but that drastic drop in capability and knowledge would require amnesia or serious weight gain or something

    I loved this movie back in the day! I remember watching it with my sister and cousin all the time. I kept playing the credits over because they had Move Along by All American Rejects as the song. And I was obsessed with that song because it was on a Bionicle commercial.

    Honestly her with the soccer was one of my favourite ‘wow, they really said that’ parts. She’s good in her own league, but when she joins the boys team she finds out it’s a totally different game, and has to relearn how to play. Great character work imo

      I mean, this says more about the way girls are trained than anything else, since Viola got to be just as good when trained as a guy.

    • @TheMindofagenius1
      @TheMindofagenius1 Před 3 měsíci +7

      @@irondragonmaiden that's just in the movie's narrative, has this ever been done irl before? Idk, but I would assume a woman, even IF she could withstand the training, wouldn't do as well as a man even if she was trained like one.

    • @Sarahopal
      @Sarahopal Před 3 měsíci +6

      @TheMindofagenius1 there's a great interview with Serena Williams (I know it's tennis, but it still applies) where they ask her if she could beat a man playing tennis. She laughs and says there's No Way! It's a totally different sport. I don't remember how far down she would be ranked if compared to the men, but it's way down the list.
      They can pull it off in a movie but in real life, nah

    • @TheMindofagenius1
      @TheMindofagenius1 Před 3 měsíci +5

      @@Sarahopal oh yeah, I remember seeing something like that, they even did like an actual match up or something? Not sure if it was Williams or not, but yeah, like a rank 100+ amongst the male's ranks easily beat whoever the female athlete was.... I might be butchering all this information up but you get the gist =P

Truthfully, people are just people. They are all different and deal with life in different ways. But all seek a connection.

    Your jokes were on point in this one! Especially loved the girlfriend having the curves of Junior Asparagus, girls going wild over tiny items they can hold in their hands, and your fears of producing athletic offspring who won't appreciate Persona 5. I Thought Olivia's challenges in the boys team was aknowledging that she would gave to up her game if she wanted to compete with them. Even if she was agile in her footwork, she wasn't on their level for endurance, speed, or push-up capacity.

    • @jackapps2126
      @jackapps2126 Před 3 měsíci

      lol, women have a much higher level of endurance than men. It’s in the nature. If men were to try to survive while pregnant - they wouldn’t last a day.
      And by the way, you are a sexist. Women can and must compete with men in sport competitions, men are just scared they they’ll be handed their @sses to them.

    I get duke teaching viola because a) Illeria may be better than corn wall and have more tricks up their sleeves b) this coach is tougher than her previous one and c) you always need to learn something new to improve on your craft.
    I feel while he did teach her, it did not take away from the talent she already had.
