It looks like he's scared of hands. Has he been owned by anyone else, or was he grabbed a lot to get him to your house?
My bird didn't like me at first, what I did was sit by his cage and read a book out loud for 20-30 minutes a day, or sing to him. They really really like to be talked to, and he started warming up to me, and when he would start to chirp to me I started opening his cage and putting my hand in and sing like that, one day he cam out to sit on my shoulder, and he's my buddy now!

He is going through the expected "bratty", adolescent period. This is expected with Linnies and will pass. It is important to keep interacting with him in a gentle way despite his aggression and this phase will pass. Your cage wire looks galvanized which will result in zinc toxicity to your little one. That is inevitable as he is ingesting zinc every time he climbs and mouths the mesh. It is really important to have a safe cage. I understand that this video was posted over a decade ago but I posted this late comment anyway as it might offer help to others who are searching youtube for helpful advice about Linnies.

You are very patient. Some of the comments given here are very good observations and advices. Don't pay attention to some remarks about the cage you lovingly made to your cute little bird and don't worry, his behavior doesn't mean he does't like you!... He is just a little bit scared and he probably just wants you to remove your hand from it. But I'm sure he will eventually stop doing this if you keep calm, firm and persistant in your training with him, and you will soon gain his full trust!

I keep an apple slice or a carrot stick which teaches them not to go at my fingers anymore. I think sometimes they view our fingers as snakes!! my Linnies enjoy being in the palm of my hand, with my fingers together which helps. Very sensitive little birds! some of them do have difficulty with fingers. He may feel threatened, so take him away from the cage and play with him this way he doesnt feel like he needs to guard it and he or she will bond with you better!

He is biting because perceives you as a threat to his/her nest site. Read about hormones and parrots. Remove any nest objects, and don't reinforce the biting with attention. Just back off and give the bird space. Give him treats when he is calm. Try to train him away from the cage if possible. Linnies get really territorial . They are really intelligent. You should try clicker training, it works wonders. Good luck, hope this helps. Cute linnie.

He's very territorial. I'm going to get a linnie soon from a breeder. I hope mine will get along well with my parrotlet. Is the linnie still acting like this or has he changed?

Birds become very possessive of their cage. That could be the main reason why he/she attacks you.

Looks like cage aggression to me. The landing on your head thing could also be dominance. You just need to establish yourself as the head of the flock. Make him step up and come away from the cage when he acts like that and never show him that the bites hurt.

So.... cute. I have never seen these kind of birds (Linnies) before. I have 2 parakeets. Typically, how much does it cost?

@Lauriabrisson well, mine can be very loudly, especially when vacuum cleaner, or any mixer is on. Or when people are talking. But I was also told, that they are quite.

Well I made the cage by myself, because in slovakia is everything so fcuking bilig, that a cage of such proportions will cost all the monthly income. Actually he loves the cage, he even doesn't wanna go outside, he just makes 2 or 3 flyby at the morning and then he is sitting in the cage or on the opened cage doors and doing his usual day rituals.

Does the bird bite hard? I'm thinking of getting a linnie. Don't know much about them.

I've got the same problem, I've recently got a parakeet, he is a male and about 3 months old, he continues to fly on my head and nibble my hair when I let him out, but won't step on my hand unless I lure him with food. He occasionally bites my hand too. I suggest giving your parakeet a chance to learn that your hand is not dangerous and is actually part of you. That's what I'm doing at least!
