Why are parrotlets your favorite and linnies your second?
I saw a Linnie today for the first time ever, at Petsmart. He was $450!! Green and so cute. 🥺
You made my day! I was crying all day missing my parrot that passed away after christmas. Then saw you & your goofy friend act the wsy i do w my friends.
I’m really sorry to hear about your parrot - my condolences. I’m glad you liked the video!
Excellent video! Congratulations on your win! Thanks for showing my birds, I am so happy with my wins!
+Love of Pets Thank you! And congrats to you too!
Congratulations Poppy!! At the last bird show I was at (NACBA) my male Linnie, Mr Grinch, won best Medium Hookbill, Best Novice Hookbill and BEST HOOKBILL IN SHOW which I'm absolutely ecstatic about. He did good the year before but this past year he literally cleaned up. Not only is he a perfectly formed natural green Linnie but he's huge and robust too. Quite the talker as well. Him and I are totally bonded, he's my favorite of all my parrots. For anyone thinking of getting a Lineolated Parakeet, you'll never regret it.
He is so friendly. So cuddly, thank you for sharing, makes me want one!
+Carmen Wiklund Yes, this little guy is very cuddly! You should get one. 😊. Thanks for watching! 😊
Wow. I wouldn't be confident enough to keep a parrot loose in an open space. I never had a parrot, but it always amaze me how people are sure that the bird won't fly away.
I think his wings have been clipped from what I can see.
How is he outside in public not flying away lol he looks cute.
My lulu is very happy and loud she is a girl also Green they are so adorable in every way
omg I love your linny!! LOVE LOVE so cute!
Lol bird chicks rock Salam ya’ll
Linnies are so cute and bird shows are fun!
Love of Animals Aren’t they??!! I can’t wait for next year!!!
I always wanted a little pair of lineolated parakeets. They're so cute.😊
+marquise Washington Awww, do you think you’ll get get some? I agree - they’re adorable!
He's adorable. ;u;
Super Adorable Linnie. Now it makes me think of getting a linnie instead of a budgie.
I am in LOVE with the Normal Green Linnie! I think they're so spectacular and the green is so bright! and contrast with those spots and dark feathers they look so wonderful. Of course I love all the colours, but the green is my favorite.
Wow, how did your car get so bombed with bird poop?...hahaha. Just got your youtube channel from watching Love of Pets. Your little green bird is adorable. I have 4 budgies but love seeing all the folks with pet birds show their pets. Keep the videos coming.
This bird is the cutest thing ever!!! If only I could find Linnies and find one I get along with, I might have to bring another bird into my house... :O
Do you still have your linnie?
Hes so cute😍
Thank you!:-)
Where did you get your linny
I saw Love of Pets birds winning a bunch of awards (video). That was great for her.
Yes, she did a great job with her birds. I was very happy for her.
I’ve been learning so much from your channel!! I’m on the waiting list for a Pionus baby (hopefully a maxy or dusky 😩) and you make me want a Linnie now too! Thanks for your content! I love Love of Pets too!
CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!!
+Shushaun Thanks! I can’t stop kissing him. 😃😃😃.
I meet Poppy at the show and he was so friendly!
Amanda Cifelli It was great meeting you! Thanks for watching! :-)
I'm loving the Amazon Affiliates program, everyone wins! and congrats Poppy!
+MissPronounced Totally! Thank you!
Hi,What is the name of its type of bird🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜
after all these years do you still have Bum and how does he get along with your parrotlet and your Pionus?
Something funny is i actually bought this linnie from this youtuber (no joke). Its name is Milo, and its still very playful.
We are getting our pair this weekend, cant wait!
+Desdicharo Oh wow, how nice! Congratulations! :-)
Thank you! We will either get a green or cremino and a cobalt blue, but that one is still in "training" :)
+Desdicharo :-). They are all gorgeous colours! I’m excited for you!!!!
Lol watching your video just brought back memories of when I used to go to bird shows with my dad as a kid. Looking at the trophies I feel almost sure it was by the same organization in Toronto 😱
Mine is a standerd green too he is very sweet he shares a very large cage with his best friend who is a conure. My conure thinks she's a linnie too she's constantly following po my linnie and hiding under their favorite blanket while playing togather. They don't like to be apart at all lol linnies and conures are great birds best parrots i've ever owned i use to have a parrolets aswell they too make great pets .
I have a feeling I will be enjoying the content of your channel very much. So glad I joined.
Komputar Thank you so much!
03:18 I would've been like...GURL YOU AIN'T GETTING MY BIRD.😂😂
+marquise Washington Hahahaha!
Can you make a video about the Pros & cons of owning a linnie? I'm thinking of getting a 2nd bird, but don't know much about Linnies. Eg: are they climbers/fliers, get along w/ other birds/aggressive to other birds/people, messy eaters?, etc. I would like to know more.
I’ll try.
I love your videos! Did your linnie stay that tame and affectionate as an adult? After reading about linnies online, I’m shocked to see how hands-on yours is.
is really very cuddly! I heard that the male parakeet Catherine is more timid than the female is true?
He is rather dependent or independent
Nathan Soubdhan yep ! That’s true. (But there are always exceptions)
he is so cute
Thank you! :) Thanks for watching.
Your new bird is so sweet . I have a parrotlet for about a month but he is not playful and adventurous. He steps up and down ,hill stay on shoulderforever,He doesn't like flooring his neck or any foods beside seeds and he never plays a his toys ,even if I hide seeds in them. Could he be depressed?
Hi, how is that he doesn't fly away? I'm looking for a little bird to come with me outside, sometimes, and thought linnies were too "shy" to feel comfortable when outside their living spaces. So, looking at your video it seems I'm wrong. Do you anyway suggest to use a harness? Also, I'd like to know if linnies are usually good as bird to learn tricks to, or are they "lazier" than other little parrots
+Dino Agate Hi Dino, thanks for watching. My baby Linnie has his wings clipped - that’s why he didn’t fly away. I was indoors when recording this video, otherwise I would have had him either in a cage or in a harness, regardless of whether he was clipped or not. Linnies can be more reserved than other species, however, at the end of the day, a lot of it has to do with what the parrot is used to. I’ve never tried to teach Linnies tricks per se, but they’re very intelligent - you can definitely try. I don’t know if they are “lazier” - they might just be more reserved. This baby is particularly confident and outgoing. Hope that helps! Check out my new video on how to clip wings!
He is cute
+Lora K Thanks! 😃😃😃. Thanks for watching!
You have to show us when he takes his first bath. It's gonna be so cute.
+marquise Washington Great idea - I’ll try and catch him taking a bath. :-)
I'm late to the party, but I have a little girl named Daisy Bell that look almost exactly like your boy! I've had her since she was 2 months old, she's now 5.5 years old
Mine doesn't like being touched at all. She's otherwise very affectionate. How did you encourage yours to accept head scratches? I think Daisy would like then if she found out that they feel good and will help her with her itchy pin feathers
Do bird expos sell hand raised/tamed baby birds that are old enough to be adopted?
Yes, some of them can. Just be sure to do your due diligence and make sure the breeder is responsible and has a good reputation. Also be sure to quarantine the bird when you get it home and definitely take it to an avian vet to have to disease screened. Hope that helps. :-)
PippyPets Out of the four species I have carefully picked which is the best? So I am trying to decide on parakeets(budgies), Bourke, Pionus, and the Linnie.
*update*
Scratch the Linnie. Looked and read through forums, good bad and the ugly *insert bird name*. They are not what I thought they were and I’m glad I did more research.
What are you looking for in a bird? Have you had a parrot before?
If you’ve never had a parrot before I’d recommend and hand-fed and tame budgie. They are overall pretty robust and the easiest to manage due to their size. It sounds like you’re doing your research which is great - you can’t go wrong with a budgie. They need more than a seed- only diet so you need to be willing to convert them to at least a partial pellet and fresh food diet. If you are looking for a larger than average budgie, the show, English budgies which you will mostly find at expos and shows are nice. They tend to be, though not always, slightly calmer and quieter although they don’t usually live as long as the smaller American budgies found in pet stores.
If you’ve never had a parrot before you can try a Bourke as well. Bear in mind they are much more delicate overall that a budgie - they tend to be better as aviary birds but if you can find a hand-fed tame baby they can make very gentle, sweet pets. They are not as outgoing as budgies overall. They also don’t climb cage walls like other parrots so you can’t clip their wings otherwise they can’t get around their cage. Same goes with them as with budgies - if they aren’t already you’ll need to covert them to a varied, species-appropriate diet.
I’d only recommend a Pionus if you have parrot experience. While they can be great pets, they are much more difficult to keep, handle and train. They can be reserved and pensive birds which means they can are more sensitive than other parrots in general (think African Grey) - they are less forgiving of training errors. They are also much, much louder. They also go through quite difficulty hormonal periods, especially the males, and can be total Jekyll and Hyde after puberty, especially the males.
Hope that helps.
Where did you get your Linnie?! He’s so cute & tame!!
Felicia Leonguerrero Hi Felicia! I got him from my friend. Thanks and thanks for watching! :-)
5:46 My dream bird.. Hyacinth Macaw... The gentle giant. One day when I'm rich lol... For now I
+LilStampBug Aren’t the Hyacinths just gorgeous??? Congratulations on your new baby Quaker! And yey for Parrotlets!!! Glad you got a laugh from the video =-) Thanks for much for watching!
What show is this?! I’d like to go?!!! 💜❤️🧡💛💚💙 can you purchase a parrot from the breeders at the show 🐣🐤
What is the name of the species?
That’s a Lineolated Parakeet.
It's a male ?
Yes, he’s a male.
How much do Linnies cost? I'm thinking of getting one.
A hand fed baby can range from between about $150 - $350 depending on the colour.
Thank you PippyPets for the reply. It's good to know the price range so that I know how much to pay if I get it. Wow, they do cost a lot for a small bird compared to conures, caiques, and others.
MrT _ Yes, they can be a bit pricier for sure. They’re not as common in the pet trade and cost a bit more as a result. :-)
Thanks for the quick reply. My niece said they're starting to get popular, I guess that's why they're more expensive and aren't easily available like budgies, parrotlets, and others. If my pet store has it, I'll get it, but if not, I'll just have to wait for the bird expo in Anaheim in Oct. Hopefully someone has a hand raised one. Yours is a hand raised, correct? I saw online one person has linnies, it's West Coast Birds??? When I google map it, it wasn't a store, and it looks more like a house/condo. I wasn't sure how trustworthy it is. One lady in Oregon has it, but it's too far for me. I live in California.
It sounds like a breeder you are referring to. While I don’t endorsed any particular breeder on this channel, I will say that getting a baby bird from a reputable breeder is the way to go. Some pet stores can be okay, but many times they can unknowingly have sick/contagious birds. Reputable breeders go to great lengths to keep their flocks disease free and healthy. They also tend to have more time to socialize the babies before they leave and they usually can provide better education on the care of the particular species you are looking for than a pet store. Some argue hag reputable breeders will not sell their babies to pet stores - I’m not going to comment on hag. What I will say is do your research. It’s with the effort in the long run.
All the best in your search.
Linnies love to hide mine likes to hang out on the couch under his blanket. .
+Kelly Anderson How cute! Mine loves to hide under blankets, too!
+PippyPets I have been told that they are grass birds and like to hide in tall grass idk if that's true tho..
This bird is sitting on my shoulder
I have a linnie who looks almost identical to yours and I got him from a pet store and he was boarded up with his 2 siblings. I bought just him obviously because to buy all of them would’ve costed me more then $300 but anyway my Linnie is extremely noisy especially right when your talking and also my Linnie is extremely not friendly. Occasionally I will take him out because I want to create a bond but I don’t want to scare him :/. Please help
