      +Loveofpets Thanks! He's just a baby, he's turning 6m next month. :)
      Also, i have a question, he has developed some attitude issues when
      bringing him out of his cage... what can i do to make him easier to get
      out? Right now we hold him 2x per day for 10-45min

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets Před 8 lety +5

      Hi, let him come out of the cage himself or show him some yummy treat and he will come out. Sometimes they dont want to come out so dont force him. Millet can be used as a treat or cooked corn, mine love corn.

    • @MsPipStick
      @MsPipStick  Před 8 lety +1

      He is totally addicted to spray oats, but he still won't come out for them :(. In the morning he screams and runs back and forth on the wire like he wants to come out but if we offer to get him out and he's like meh... I don't want to force him but i'm scared he'll never come out and become a lonely :-/
      I'm going to try some corn...

      @@MsPipStick hey I’m like about 5 years too late on this but from what little i know (I’ve only done around 8 or so hours of research at this point) that is just a hormonal mood swing in their adolescence. It apparently happens to the majority of parrots.

      +14Raine14 I put meds in his bath because he was new in this video. It was anti-stress. He doesn't like to bath, just drink his bath water :P. He is on a pelleted diet.
      We give him seeds as a treat/diet addition. He doesn't like them much though, which means most of the time he eats just pellets.

      +Hamsters Minecraft And More That's a seed net, so if he digs in his food it doesn't go all over the floor.
      He cannot fly as of right now, some of his wing feathers are clipped for so he can't fly. We got him that way. We will likely keep clipping them for the next year or possibly longer safety reasons. The feathers will grow back in a few months. For more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_clipping

    • @MsPipStick
      @MsPipStick  Před 7 lety

      lineolated parakeet is a thicker grass bird, parakeet is more of an open flyer. Linnies are more like parrots.

    Beautiful birdie! I have two Linnies myself. I see yours is clipped. I suggest you pull the clipped feathers out and let them grow to full length so he learns flying at a young age. I did that with both of my Linnies. The process hurt but now they fly around and are very happy. :)

    • @MsPipStick
      @MsPipStick  Před 8 lety +1

      +sahar abz Thank you. We are keeping him clipped for safety reasons. Has has been clipped sense he grew flight feathers. We have a dog with a strong prey drive and a very large window in the room where he lives. There is a small possibility we will eventually let his feathers grow out once he is trained better.

      its cool. I like this video a lot because my locally owned pet store recently replaced the 20 budgies they had for 6 linnes. I've wanted a budge for a while but my mom says they look somewhat "unintelligent". However when they brought in these little cuties, she said they looked more "awake" and "smart". Since then I've been trying to gather info on lines but there aren't many useful sources I could find. I hope sometime after my hamster has passed (not hoping for it to die btw, I'm not a monster) that we could take it one stop further and get a bird. Love the vid, thx :)

    • @MsPipStick
      @MsPipStick  Před 7 lety

      They are awesome! Linnies are more like parrots than finches, canaries, and traditional parakeets. they talk, hold stuff with their feet, learn their owner, learn tricks, and more. they are amazing pets. although, due to their intelligence it takes them a while to settle in and learn their new human, until then they can be aggressive and territorial. My best advice is to gain trust and understand where they are coming from... it's quite scary to go from a breeder, to a petshop, then to you.
      There's *VERY* little info on them, after having Leo for a year, I'm just starting to feel like we're starting to understand him. If you have any questions regarding them, don't be scared to send me a PM. ;)

      will do m8, ive been going to this pet store for almost 3 years and they have a large knowledge of their pets. I will ask questions and look in to where they get their birds. If they refuse the premise of the topic, I know of at least 1 linnie breeder in Oregon. thank you so much!
