Matt Hayes and Mick Brown go on the hunt for Giant Wels Catfish at Wintons Fishery, Sussex. This is the complete Wet Nets episode from around 2001. Enjoy.
I had a vhs with mick brown night fishing on some eerie drain and he was panicking a bit making sure you always tell someone where you're going at night Haha bless him
@michaelslater2519 the video was one of those that were in with the magazines at the newsagents but there was no magazine. Just a cardboard sheet a4 size. I think it was a fiver. Bargain 🤣
@michaelslater2519 Yes! It was called angling in the dark.. Fair play to him too, I remember he caught a few pike and zander that night on the fen drains.. Whenever I deadbaited the Yorkshire drains at night, all I ever woke up with was a bin bags worth of blanket weed and no dead bait on the hook !!! 🤣
"How do you know its a boy? Well it might not be of course - it could be a woman - it's awkward enough to be!" Brilliant. I wish we could still have a laugh like this.
Love the way they get back to the catfish swim on the 2nd night & matt says " if I'm any judge I think our best chance of catching a catfish is in the hrs of darkness" 😂😂😂 that's the only time there fishing for them...
Great result, but I don't agree with the mostly nocturnal/mainly night feeding that is constantly pushed. I have only ever done two nights. I did catch 2 or 3 in the night but have caught over 100 during day sessions. 7 in 2 recent trips. If you can use them, live baits out fish everything else, deadbaits, boilies and pellets. These may have to be smelly for the cats to find them. Live baits are not smelly, but their movement and vibrations attract the cats far more frequently.
Miss watching these when I first got into fishing
Absolutely love it. Matt and Mick are the best ever. Love you guys
Wow Awesome..both of you a fraction under the British record at the time .. Amazing guys Awesome 😎
