Thanks for the comment. I haven't test it in the nighttime environment and I don't have the speedbooster anymore.
Does the viltrox ef-R3 0.71 adapters have the same issue ? Thinking about getting one
Sorry, I don't have one so I can't comment on it.
@@juliankrakow I have one, the Viltrox R3 Pro with the C70, and it doesn't have this purple flare. It's working great and feel very solid. The only issue is that the lens inside is smaller than the Canon's, and so the viltrox doesn't work with prime lenses with bigger inside lens. I bought the DZO 50mm and with the viltrox i have an super strong vignetage, and can't releay use it.. That's why i'm personnaly thinking about buying the Canon's or metabones..
@@tromal217 I see. Thanks for letting us know. Regarding the Canon one, I think that as long as you shoot wide open or wider than f4 you should be fine.
There are people with villtrox and have the same issue. Just check out the videos on youtube
I heard that a recent firmware update for the adapter somehow fixed this issue. Know anything about that?
I don’t have the adapter anymore.
Is this only outdoor issue? I didnt see any problems with indoor photos of the dog.
Yes, it only seems to be an outdoor issue.
Interesting. I've been using the speed booster on my C70 for almost two years and have never noticed this. I am very often open wider than f4 so that might be why, but I'm also wondering if certain Canon lenses get automatically corrected (I use the 24-104ii way too much) and that may be why I'm not seeing it. I now have an R7 as a b-cam so I'll be interested to see if it comes up.
In my experience, it usually comes out with wider focal lengths and aperture narrower than f4 but please do share your experience with the R7.
Would you mind demonstrating the same result using Canon EF glass? Genuinely interested because my speed booster definitely reacts differently with different lenses attached to it.
@@slashmatt Thank you for the comment. I don't have the speedbooster anymore. I didn't think it was worth the high price.
Um, I wonder if it’s better to get the metabones or viltrox version
There are some reviews of the viltrox, haven't seen any of the metabones, but the problem is Canon limiting support for third party lenses and accessories.
@@juliankrakow ah yes that’s a valid point in regards to IS and AF performance
I think you may have gotten a defective speedbooster.
I just received my copy yesterday and saw your video so I went to test it out.
I use a R7 as well and shot at 18mm F/5.0, F/8.0 & F/11
All of those pictures do not have the purple circle as you have demonstrated in your testings
Do you have a UV filter on? Maybe it might help?
I'm not a fan of buying overpriced Canon products but they are the only ones making weather-sealed speedboosters for EF-RF as far as I know
That o-ring should not have cost 300 bucks
Good to hear that you have no problem with yours. People who use Viltrox also seem to be happy with their purchase. However, if you check the CZcams there are some people who use the Canon speedbooster on Canon C70 and also are experiencing the purple circle problem. Maybe it was bad batch?
Canon should replace it for free.
you should use a ND filter or CPL
Unfortunately, none of these help with this problem.
I have a golden tint color with my speed booster :(
Sorry to hear that.
I would like to know if other speedboosters have this problem on the R7, these are the new inconvenients of the beautiful "Mirrorless Era"
I haven’t seen reports of this problem with the Viltrox speed booster, however now that Canon is threatening Viltrox over the use of RF mount, there is a possibility of a firmware update from Canon that will brick the Viltrox adapter and its lenses. : (
@@juliankrakow i just ordered the metabones on 40% discount
@@FordSierraIS Please let us know if it works properly.
@@juliankrakow will do. collecting it at the post office now.
@@juliankrakow its dark now. do you get this problem in artificial light too?
First thing you should have said is, This speed booster has purple issues on the c70. It’s all about the optics. Calder/metabones speed booster is superior to this crap. I just home the electronics work.
