Thank you for posting this video as it clarifies in just a few minutes the main issues when pairing Ninja monitor and Canon R7/R8. That being said, there's kinda workaround to the 'clean vs dirty output feed' issue: 1/ Hit the info button up to reaching a 'clean' feed output from the camera for the Ninja recording, 2/ Connect the Canon app to get back access to camera controls (among which ones, touch AF on screen), Then: - Start recording on both devices (Ninja SSD+Camera SD) - Keep your Canon Camera... and make great video with it ! ;-)

They must have changed the design of the SmallRig R6 cage a few years ago. The one I got years ago works fine on the r6 mark 2. I don't know if you have the newer one or the older one, but mine looks very different from yours. Mine has a flatter and wider top where the 1/4"-20 holes are all in a single line instead of stacked in two rows. So if any of you see that design, i can say it works just fine on the R6 ii. Their NEW R6 ii cage supposedly fits more snug with tightening bolts on the top edges, but I don't know if they squeeze the camera with rubber, which would be fine, or with aluminum.. which... would not be. BTW, the cable stay addition they made back then suuuuucked. Sort of. It got in the way of the rubber tab to open the ports for mic and headphones. I solved this by cutting the thing in half so it still grabbed onto the HDMI port but not the USB. They have since abandoned that design and no longer make it in favor of a thinner one. I haven't tried it yet. But if you have the old one... cut the top half off.

Good and forthright presentation. Thanks so much. But I note Panasonic are continually improving their products, unlike Canon, since they seem to be uninterested in our suggestions and recommendations. For instance, just a few months ago they significantly improved their new AF system. Plus, for a video shooter they have great MF, and can make their MF linear and eliminate focus by wire. Canon would never dream of doing that with their photo cameras. The only interest Canon seems to have in us is making money and overcharging for their products. (I've seen a $16,000.00 camera depreciate in only a few months to as low as $2000.00, and cameras crippled to force you to purchase a higher priced Canon model just to get a single feature you might need. Canon is a rapacious company. I have to say I'm done with them. Over priced and under performing, and feature poor for video. Panasonic, for me as an exclusive video shooter, is the hand's down winner. The image, the V-log, and the colors are beautiful, and video result is truly special and unique. As a photo shooter primarily I can see how you might prefer the Canon, but for me the Canon does not measure up. I think Canon hates the idea of hybrid cameras. They make specific tools for specific jobs. How do I know they hate the hybrid camera concept? Because they make the simple task of acquiring a white balance for a video shooter a time sucking nightmare. It's insulting to have to go through all the steps they force you do go through to get a simple white balance for video. It's ridiculous, absurd, and insulting. What Canon does is bad business. Yes, their colors are good, but I think Panasonic colors are equally as good---far, far better than Sony. And, as you stated, the Panasonic is feature rich for video and very easy to use, with much, much better stabilization than any other camera. Use it with the L mount f4 24-105, which combines IBIS with lens stabilization and it's amazing to shoot. It's almost the only lens you need for video.

Very solid advice. I find adjusting the focus-zone using the joystick is much much quicker than using the display. Further, the size of box of the 1+ can be adjusted to become larger and smaller, which can be pretty handy. Speaking of RAW and color profiles, I am noticing that the color profile is carried over from video to photo mode, which can be pretty frustrating as I need to manually toggle this setting whenever going between the modes. If you know a way to get around this please let me know. = )

Great Comparison. I shoot Weddings with multiple S5 II, shoot in Zone Mode AF for that situation. The Zone will allow you to size the zone for one person or all three. I nail AF in that scenario with zero problems. Hope this helps. We shoot Canon for photo but having 2 Systems sucks.

Thanks. Idk why Canon makes stuff like this so complicated. It'd be nice if you could switch to C1 for example, change your settings, and it'll automatically save them for when you switch back to it later on.

Thanks Julian, your comment about the autofocus has helped me to decide to leave the Lumix system. I currently shoot with the S5, but the autofocus is sluggish and unreliable. I was thinking of switching to the S5ii or moving to Canon or Nikon (or Sony, though I don't like the feel of Sony). I don't think Lumix is going to work for me, as it is more video-centric. I shot Fujifilm for six years before moving to Lumix, and the S5 reminds me of the old 56mm f1.2 on an X-T2 in terms of autofocus.

The price is is the big elephant in the room - if you want RF glass then it costs you arm or kidney. EF lenses are not as good for video because of the noisy motor. So I would say L-Mount system, that has grown and is cheaper might be a better choice

It didn't work at first, but I watched your video again, and then it did work. I still don't have the screens I saw in your video. I wish I knew why. Also, the OS, how is that known? It is not the firmware; I'm using 11.06.00. Maybe I should upgrade the OS to 11? Please comment. As for the 3.7K pro rez raw video, in Canon Log 2, it's beautiful. But with a 85mm F 7.1 at 800ISO, I'm seeing a lot of grain in a lap cover ten feet from my camera? At least now I'm seeing Cinema Gamut, albeit Canon Log 2 instead of Log 3? An 18 minute video seems to have used almost all of my 2TB drive? More mysteries, but some progress at last, thank you Sir!
