  • Viltrox EF-R3 Mount Adapter allows Canon EF mount lens series to pair with Canon RF mount cinema cameras especially for Canon EOS C70/Red Komodo models. The adapter offers a 0.71x focal reducer, supports full dual-pixel, IS lens stabilisation and electronic aperture control. It also enables EXIF info transmission and provides a USB port for firmware upgrade.

    Great footage dude! I just got my Komodo with the same Metabones speedbooster adapter. Would you happen to know if I can take off the support foot, or if it’s even possible? Since I need to take it off for a set up I want to build. I’m talking about the black support metal support under the Metabones.

    It looks to me, that the Canon speedbooster has MUCH bigger chromatic aberration? Is that right? I mean the part from 1:30, the red and blue lines are wider on the shot labeled "Canon"? And how is the purple flare? Worse on canon, or Viltrox? I need to buy one, hence my interest.

    Thanks for these thorough tests! I'm interested how the Metabones one compares.

      Me too! If I can get a metabones I'll try.

      Cvp posted a video a while ago comparing the Canon focal reducer to the metabones speed booster.
      TLDR the canon out performed the metabones in sharpness and color accuracy

    ca in min 4:23 is really heavy. Does the adapter influence that?

    • @PeterBaerveldt
      @PeterBaerveldt  Před 2 lety

      Yes, it does! The Vespid primes do have some CA popping up in over exposed situations but the Speedbooster enlarges this even more. The corners of the Viltrox are a bit more distorted so It's more apparent on the viltrox over the Canon. Using glass with less potential CA does help but I don't have anything that is full frame and on that level.

      @@PeterBaerveldt okay. I also use the vespid primes and considered to buy a Speedbooster. I think i will take the one from canon. Thanks for the answer.

    Metabones clearly has more contrast, less vignetting/chroma, sharper and the colors are rendered a bit more neutral. It's almost like the viltrox takes takes away a lot of the color which makes me not want it.

      Oh, man that is short lived then. Sorry to hear that. It was a good option for a good amount of people.

      Looks like is Canon shutting out third party RF lenses and adapters so that it can force people to buy its own.
      I recommend everyone new to avoid the RF system. Unfortunately I got suckered into the RP, and switching is expensive...

    bought the canon did not trust the viltrox

      I understand that. Canon has a pricy but compelling speedbooster.
