They should have made it so you could open safe with a backup key if the digital keypad malfunctioned. And why would you put up an informative viedo if your not going to answer questions we have on here ?
If you have a Cannon safe and the keypad will simply not lift up and off like is shown in the video, you may have one of the earlier electronic models like I did. Hopefully you aren't locked out of your safe, I was able to get my safe door open and extend the locking bolts to prevent the door from closing while I changed out the lock. If it's closed in the locked position, you're going to have to call Cannon or a Safesmith. You have to cut/tear/remove all of the numbered plastic keypad to gain access to 2 screws. Behind the keypad there are 2 Phillips screws that have to be removed from the front, you can beat it upwards all day with a hammer and it isn't going to come off, these early keypad locks weren't made to be removed without destroying the keypad. If you can get the keypad and lock off, CZcams has a Great video titled "S&G 6730 Combination Lock Installation", which shows how to install a S&G lock.
Actually, you just need to pop the S&G bubble logo sticker off which exposes a Phillips head screw that can be removed to get front of keypad off. This leaves one of the mounting screws exposed. There is a plastic cover where battery compartment is that you twist and remove to gain access to the second mounting screw.
I have the same question. A thief damaging the keypad is a common problem. I imagine you can replace the keypad. But how can you replace it if the connection is inside the safe?
Yea the video should be: "how to remove shitty electronic keypad lock and replace it with a mechanical lock that should have came with the safe in the first place that we sent you for free to make up for our horrible insight."
Canon tech person tells me to call a locksmith to drill out my lock to unlatch my bolts to open the safe door. I got a bad keypad. Canon will not pay for the repair bur will replace with a new lock and keypad. So what happened to the Lifetime Warranty here?
My Winchester electronic lock failed on the inside. They sent me a piece of crap plastic NL to replace piece of 💩 Lagard keypad but that did not work. The main problem with these people is you can't get to customer service when electronic lock stops working. I will do a video of the safe getting drilled and opened because I can't get any help. I will then weld some plate tool on inside of door where it was drilled and then I will replace the key pad with SafeLogic Xtreme emp resistance electronic and mechanical lock. I urge anyone thinking about buying a Winchester to call them first and see how many days and calls it takes to talk to someone.
Someone messed up my Liberty,... so I bought a cannon and put my stuff in it. But they said it was hard to Open? It's bee 4 years and its still working fine.
Safe locked up can't open it Been locked out for 7 years. Can I jus change key pad Then change the code on it Or what can be done Besides drilling it apart. Please let me know. Sick of this. Mike Collom Help. Help. Some body.
Once you use that code given to you it will not work again. So I suggest to put a mechanical lock on it or a EMP-Proof Redundant Electro-Mechanical Safe Lock made by SafeLogic Xtreme. This guy has done a video: czcams.com/video/1-YJsHd1QHc/video.html
I highly recommend anyone in the market for a gun safe to get one with a key backup. My digital lock failed and it took Cannon 3 weeks to get me a replacement. They told me that they don't use the secure ram locks anymore (that's what I had that went bad) so they sent me a "ram bolt"...maybe? Can't remember the name right off the bat but I didn't like the fact that it's so light. The one that broke had a metal housing where the new one is plastic. Here's a video of it being replaced if anyone is interested. czcams.com/video/Ab65HaluE0A/video.html
Canon safes are horrible because the electronic actuator inside goes out!! And when it does which it will!! It doesn't matter if you put the correct code in 80 times even with new batteries even dated to 2030 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ You have to pay for a locksmith to come drill a big ass hole in your safe which makes it no good in order to get your valuable guns out of it!!
So, how in hell do I open the safe to change this useless keypad ? The useless keypad will not work so I cannot open the safe ! Be warned ,NEVER buy a cannon safe !
Hi, I had SAME problem. I called Cannon and they guy walked me through all these 'tricks' to try to open it. Nothing worked. I tried about 50 times over a 3 hour perios. Then I pushed as hard as I could on the keypads, still didn't work. Then I literal said I'm going to try this ONE more time. I pushed hard, but not as hard as the previous time, and the damned thing OPENED!!!! Cannon sent new parts, turns out the new lock is defective, they forgot to thread the area where the screws go in!!!! Probably made in China.
HI swankster, Glad to hear you got your safe open. My safe would not open using any tricks, tips or suggestions. I kept at it, off and on for about ten days with no luck. I live in a very rural area so the nearest qualified locksmith is about 175 miles away.He tried to come up with a solution over the phone but still no open. I needed to get it open because I had credit cards stored inside. So, I finally cut a hole in the door using a 9 inch grinder with a cut off wheel on it. It's open now but I have not decided what to do with it. I can weld it back together and repaint it or just junk it out and go buy a safe that can relied on to open when needed. If I decide to keep it I will need to buy a dial type lock instead of the useless keypad.
@@Swanky95472 Going through this as well. The old lock used the vertical screws, top/bottom. The new keypad uses the right/left ones.....not threaded. How did you solve the dilemma? Did you thread the holes yourself? That's what I'm thinking but since I don't own a tap/thread kit I wanted to ask.
Canon is a POS. I cant open my safe no matter what i did... even after listening to this POS rep go through all the bullshit in trying to get it to open... then finally he says I gotta pay a locksmith to open it for me. What kind of bullshit is this?
What a joke!!!! It shows you the quality of their product when after 10 years you have to completely replace the locking mechanism. To make matters worse; apparently Cannon no longer has the locking mechanism that came with my safari safe. They sent me the new mechanism (with no directions), which does not wok in my particular safe.

How about doing one showing replacement of the LEXAM mini lock that's on the Shield and Safari series!!!!!
How do you remove the inside panel when the inside panel is smooth with no pockets to grab onto

Wish I had read this about 3 hours ago. I ended up hack sawing the dang thing off!!!!!

Swell. Good to know. Now tell me how to open it when your piece off crap lock won't open just after the warranty goes out.
And what if the keypad craps out and you cannot open the safe too do the replacement??
Andrew Weaver same question

Does this video upload by Cannon demonstrate that the weak link in the safe system is the problematic keypad and its imminent failure?

My safe lock doesnt look like this at all! How do i put on the one you sent me?
Are you still trying or gave up?😂

Cannon has a by pass code, call customer service

If keypad doesn't lift up
Tear off plastic keypad cover to access 2 screws

I will never buy another cannon safe
