Electronic Lock Failure on Cannon Gun Safe

My dad's 6-month-old Cannon gun safe experienced a lock failure. The electronic keypad lock's locking mechanism shorted out, creating a fire hazard. On top of that, the warranty support representative would not validate the warranty unless a DURACELL 9V ALKALINE battery was used. Cannon's support is a joke.
