As someone who hasn’t played Fortnite… that was the end of the sentence
You should. The game has branched out into multiple genres that aren't just third-person shooter.
I haven’t played it before is it like, smash bros?
@@JonnyDenny1815 There was a Smash like mode in the game (Knockback), but apart from that, no.
@@SaltyToad00 thanks letting me know that I was just curious.
@@JonnyDenny1815 You should try it someday. It's a fun game to play with friends.
Nintendo treats every character with so much care that comes to smash bros. Comparing that to just throwing Samus into fortnite isn't the gotcha take you think it is.
One of the characters in Smash Bros (Ryu) is also in Fortnite as well
@arthursnyder6935 Ryu is a guest character in Smash tho. He belongs to Capcom
_Metroid Prime Four-tnite_
There will always be more opportunities to feature Samus or any other character in other games.
And all the opportunities will be missed
@@kaepowboom9116 over exposure is also a thing and i’m sure Nintendo picks it’s partnerships based on its own interests at the time.
Thanks Nintendo to protect Samus!
Protect her from what? Why would a fortnite collab be bad?
@@NotaSimulacrumAgreed, it would only give her more exposure and give interest to other people who don't own Nintendo systems to look into the Metroid series
No one wants a model of suited Samus without the arm cannon shooting normal guns or performing weird dances. _Metroid_ needs more press but this ain't it.
They could just have her in her Zero Suit.
I do not agree, I want
@@SaltyToad00 People like you argue that Samus should be in Fortnite to increase the series's popularity, but that's not going to happen if Samus isn't in her most iconic suit.
@@SaltyToad00 Ah yes, cause Samus needs more players staring at her butt.
They made Ironman work, all they need to do is make her arm canon a special weapon
Samus not being in Fortnite is great! I hate it when i see characters like Naruto, Goku and Batman wielding a automatic rifle shooting each other feels very off.
Yeah can you imagine Samus shooting things? So glad that’s never happened
Lore wise, It’s not supposed to be the real character from the source material. The person we play as is a copy of whoever entered the fortnite world. That’s why they don’t do their normal powers or are just using guns
Nintendo not throwing their IPs around is what keeps the IPs sooo valuable
Do you really want kids to unironically say “Hey look! It’s Samus from Fortnite!”?
Somehow that sounds worse than “It’s Samus from Smash Bros.!” that we already hear
When they're walking past a copy of Dread or Prime Remastered in the store I do actually
That would still boost sales of Metroid by a big margin
"Hey, it's samus from Fortnite!, she got her own game?"
@@paytonhansen Eh, most people know Samus from Smash more than Metroid. You'd almost be judged for saying she is from Metroid at this point, hahahah.
Beats not knowing who Samus is at all 🫡
no way, nintendo is the only company that treats their ip's like art rather than pure business, and find success with it
Missed opportunity.... for Fortnite.
I want to see Samus in Metroid, not Fortnite
I want see her in both. It does not keep her from one game by putting her in another.
@@warrenbradford2597 doesn't matter to me if she is in Fortnite either way. I "want" to see her in that game as much as I "want" to see her in any other non-Metroid game
It's not like they hate their idea. They are trying to protect her from her reputation of her series. Plus it also needs to make sense. Nintendo respect their characters and knows what's best for them.
I still say it's on Epic's decision if they were willing to accept Nintendo's condition, not so much as Nintendo refusing their offer.
Not every property under the sun needs to be in Fortnite.
I mean, it sucks, but I dont think its the biggest deal in the world. The only sad part is that we couldn't see some cool mythics or vehicles.
Im completely okay with Samus not being reduced to a fortnite meme lol
Tbf it would have been cool but not shocking from them 😭🫡 but yeah I don’t mind anyway
Not a missed opportunity for Nintendo at all.
Why does this need to be a discussion?
Reeeeeeal slow news day I guess
It actually has a lot of ramifications for representation of a Nintendo series that has historically had a rough time making sales & representation in gaming.
If Samus was in Fortnite, that would open the doors for a whole new generation of gamers - alongside drumming up some good support & fans for more Metroid.
To milk the viewers.
@@1JAM229 ?🤣
@@1JAM229 I am sorry, but isn't that what Nintendo (and really any major company) does with every fandom already? 🤔
It's just not considered *milking* when it's something the fans want or are surprised by. Realistically, there are fans who would love to see Samus in Fortnite - should they not be *milked* if that is how they wish to spend their hard earned dollar?
And if you are a fan who doesn't want to support it - nobody is forcing you to do so. You can buy the next Metroid if that is what you want.
EDIT: Just realized you meant the video with the audience. My apologies - will keep this though in regards to other discussions in this thread.
For me personally, I don't want Samus doing a Fortnite dance
Did someone forgot from family Guy Peter was in it one Time.
I am not really a fan but it was clever put him in the Game.
I remember some on the xenoblade subreddit entertaining some of the characters from the franchise being in Fortnite… not really found of the idea (especially since it wouldn’t the actual characters, but skins of them doing the Floss or default dance and the "is that Shulk/Rex/Noah from Fortnite" sends chills to my spine)
As a Nintendo fan, Samus would not make sense on Fortnite unless Samus will only use her arm blaster. Maybe Zero Suit could work, but Samus not on fortnite is meh to me. I'm waiting on the new Metroid game and that's about it.
There's official artwork of the powersuit without the arm cannon in Metroid Prime.
And Dread shows Raven Beak in on a screen where he doesn't have his arm cannon either, and his suit just had another arm.
Seems like it would work fine to me.
Super Smash Bros is a franchise that celebrates Nintendo and gaming as a whole.
(Like the video game version of the Olympics.)
Fortnite is just pure cringe. Also with all these popular franchises being brought over.
Where the heck is Sailor Moon? On second thought perhaps its for the best that she keeps her
dignity. I don't think seeing I want to see her carrying a gun or performing a
Fortnite dance of any kind. (Or any other of the Sailor Guardians for the matter.)
they both look older and younger than each other at the same time
Sora in smash was big maybe that's why we got 6 characters in fighters pass 2. And there's a difference between smash bros and fortnite. On of them is a celebration of gamings greatest, and the other one wants you to buy micro transactions to combat your fear of missing out.
First of all, it's clear that Nintendo was in on the idea for Samus on Fortnite on SWITCH but Epic Games' stupid rule of all platforms was what stopped it people. Epic Games dropped the ball by not just commanding Nintendo but not realizing that Nintendo has a RULE for there franchises to be on a Nintendo Platform and it hasn't changed in there entire history, what makes you think it's going to changed? Nothing at all. Everybody knows this it's not a shocker that Nintendo said no to Samus being OUTSIDE THE NINTENDO PLATFORM people. We could've still had Samus, Master Chief and Kratos on the switch version if Epic Games just stopped being stubborn and do what Nintendo wanted and we get what we want. This is not on Nintendo for this mess, blame Epic.
Nintendo is such a strict company, they have done something simular before. Nintendo had Mario skins in Minecraft, Mario and Luigi livery's on the Cars in Rocket League, Mario, Luigi and Peach being playable characters in NBA Street V3 and SSX on Tour, Little Mac being in Fight Night Round 2 but all of those were only on the Nintendo platforms only
Nintendo is smart. They have to keep their IPs exclusive
it's Nintendo, everyone should know the deal, their IPs are exclusive official to their own devices with no ifs, ands, or buts, that's how they work, best, Mobile is an exception since it's not a console
This discussion would've worked better if you got someone who disagreed with your viewpoints to come on so you could debate. Just saying.
The fact that at least half the comments around here are dissenting says a lot.
Or maybe because it's Fortnite, and people love to hate on this game for some reason?
@@SaltyToad00My guy, you can't talk. You always have bad takes, this being one of them.
Fortnite at it's core, is a repetitive game. Why do you think they have Creator mode and LEGO Fortnite? Because the base game wasn't bringing anyone in, what else is there after winning? Nothing. What else is there after grinding the BP? Nothing.
They depend on cash grab promos and player creations to stay afloat.
@@kartuz0 That wasn't the point of my comment. The point of my comment was that people are only happy this collab didn't happen because it's Fortnite, which gets a lot of hate because it's popular. If this was any other game, y'all would have completely different opinions. I said nothing about the state of the game because it's completely irrelevant to the topic.
@@kartuz0 Also, my takes are always bad? I highly doubt that. I've had some pretty hot takes at times, but I don't think opinions like Mario Kart Super Circuit is boring AF or Super Mario Bros. Wonder is better than every NSMB game are unpopular, are they? You can disagree with some of my opinions, but instantly writing off every single one of my takes as bad is just stupid.
@@kartuz0 So are we going to completely forget how, when they introduced Zero Build, it brought in SO many players and it crashed the servers because it was so popular? Literally brought in so many people? And then also simultaneously ignore when they had the OG season which hyped people up and had them excited to drop at old POIs? Fortnite has a LOT of great collabs and huge reach with said collabs, but make no mistake that they also make some changes on their own with their own stuff. The new locker UI and rarity system can go, but let's not pretend like Fortnite only sits on the laurels of other IPs.
These two especially the joey dude are def closeted ps fanboys
Nintendo is a worldwide brand, and as a copyright holder they only want their IP on Nintendo hardware.
If anything, the benefit would’ve gone to Epic more than Nintendo for this, and Nintendo knew it.
ummm epic owns unreal engine which alot of game companies world wide been using for years so kinda goes both ways.
it's just marketing really
Super Mario Run.
@@karnovrpg Super Mario Run what?
@@EWOODJ Exactly.
I was about to be a Fortnite player, then Helldivers 2 released and showed me what a proper live service game should be.
Nintendo not allowing their IPs to be relegated to a cash grab and holding to their principals makes me respect them more.
If other console/PC players wanted to know about Samus, they would have already bought the games, so no, Samus in Fortnite WON'T increase exposure.
What are you talking about? Adding Samus to Fortnite would 1000% increase exposure. The game has millions of players daily. Or are you just saying that because you're one of those people who still thinks its cool to hate on Fortnite?
@@SaltyToad00 Can you name a single new franchise fortnite introduced you to and made you a fan of?
@@archedmash2 Yeah, no.
It would increase exposure, but not necessarily increase sales. They'd probably just pirate the Metroid games.
Can you explain how Helldivers 2 succeeds at live service any better than Fortnite? Interested in hearing about what a live service "should be" considering Fortnite has dominated for years while Helldivers 2 has been round for just a few months.
Fun Facts:
“Valve is now the first company to be Too Protective of their IP after Sonic Racing All Stars ended”
Oh no, they missed the opportunity to tarnish her character again? How will I be able to sleep at night?
--*Sarcasm off*--
I own all 5 MGS games and Rising Revengeance. But the only thing I’ve played is Ground Zeroes and the demo of MGR.
But seeing Snake (and Peter Griffin) in Fortnite is what got me to play Fortnite for the first time in over 5 years and I’ve been more anxious to break into the MGS franchise more than ever.
The same thing would’ve happened if they put Samus in. I only own Prime Remastered and all I did was open it to flip the box art. Just waiting for that motivation to play it.
But if she did the internet will throw a temper tantrum.
I strongly agree with you. That is missed marketing opportunity Nintendo ignored.
Mobile and movies are different they aren’t competitors
It would cheapen the IP. And to be associated with Epic, ick
A good compromise would be making Samus only purchasable from the Switch eshop. That way Nintendo knows that only Switch users can buy the Samus skin in the first place
There is this game called "Sky: Children of the Light", when it was released on Switch, they added a Nintendo Pack including two Joy-Cons themed capes, an Ocarina and a BOTW Link hair style. The can be used in any console, but it can only be bought while playing on Switch. Sky came around the IP limitations by avoiding slapping names on the items. We all know its Linl, but the game never uses the name
Xbox and PlayStation would have just used it as an excuse to play as Nintendo characters it wouldn’t have made them wanna go out and get a switch
There wouldn’t have been anything in it for them people would have just had an excuse “y would I buy a switch when I have Mario here”
How would that even work, they would have to use the zero suit model
Personally I would've wanted to see her alongside Master Chief and Doomguy
These are bad faith arguments being made here. One could argue. How come epic? Just didn't allow Nintendo to have their own character within Fortnite. On their own platform. I'm more interested in the idea. Is there a Fortnite bump for any of these IPs That's on the platform. We know there is a bump when an ip is on smash brothers
Because they’re not gonna do that for one company being unreasonable. The other giants let their characters appear on other platforms.
Epic tries to be fair and doesn't do exclusive collab skins. Even skins first only seen on one platform later release in the item shop. They want to make it fair so that EVERY player can get this collab skin and not requiring people to own a specific system to get it. That would be unfair and alienating those who didn't own that console/device
@@NintendoSEGAreviewerWhich is fine, but that tells me that epic approach nintendo, which means that nintendo holds the cards
@@roll3886In that case, there's no benefit in nintendo collaborating in this
@@vinnymac102 except monetarily. It's not exactly like Nintendo would let them use the skin for free and keep all of the sales of the skin
I ask this same question if not Samus Aran why not Bayonetta for Fortnite? Bayonetta 1 was on a different console before she came to Nintendo consoles.
This was already when Namco brought Soul Caliber 2 in 2002 and probably before that , ffs gamexplain, wake up
Missed opportunity? More like *dodged bullet.*
I couldn't agree more!
Xbox and PlayStation fans that want Nintendo to fail have always been looking for a copout
A way to play their games without having to support them
Everybody is saying samus. But why not consider fox McCloud? He used to use weapons as shooting in star fox assault
Isn't it all skins in fortnite though?
It would end up being a freakishly tall Fox if that is the case.
Fortnite wanted Samus because they were doing a "bounty hunter / super soldier" theme for a bit.
I’m surprised they get as many characters in Fortnite as they do without them being locked out of doing the dances, that alone would want me not want Samus in Fortnite.
Having her running around taking out the others is fine, but she should not be hitting the griddy
I could honestly care less abput cameos I just want Metroid Prime 4.
C'mon guys, Snake and Ryu are already in Fortnite, what more do you want from them?!
12:04 Nintendo is different
Another note, Metroidvanias are a niche genre. Everyone who loves to play them already is playing them and 95% of those people are OG fans from the 1990s. I don't think I've ever seen a Metroidvania sell more than 3mil units. With enough luck maybe, just maybe, one series reached 5mil but no idea if any has. And no, even Hollow Knight only sold 3mil+ and that game is considered God tier.
The only thing the new generation of kids want to play is the games that go "pew pew" and are filled with pretty colors that fill their low brain cell counts with extreme highs of dopamine.
Fortnite is not worthy to have Samus in it. Samus is a higher class.
The definition of a Nothingburger = this video.
It's a GOOD thing that she's not in
I have a feeling the same people who want Samus bastardized on Fortnite are the same people who whined about it in Other M.
I agree with Nintendo, Metroid is too good to be in Fortnite
Its not lol
nah thats alright
I’m glad she isn’t in fortnite. 😁
No it ain’t.
Who cares? I mean who else.

Putting samus on other systems
Would have been a. Betrayal to Nintendo fans
Fortnite doesn’t deserve Samus
I am a hater of the aforementioned game, but even I wish she was in the game, the exposure would be crazy and Dread would’ve been even more successful
To be honest, whether Nintendo likes it or not, I hope Samus doesn't make it into Fortnite. Fortnite fandom is so toxic, it's ruining some games. I just wish older games were ported to PC like Wonderful 101. Wonderful 101 is still owned by Nintendo.
Looking at these comments, i didn’t think people had so much beef with fortnite still even after 6 years. Kinda sad if you ask me.
Yeah. These people are stuck in 2019 and don’t seem to understand how much Fortnite has changed since then. The argument of the Metroid IP being devalued because it’s in Fortnite is such an absurd thing to me when many crossovers often only do good. At worst, it’s free promotion. At best, it can get more people to become fans of metroid. I know many people who got into a music artist, show, movie or game because they were introduced to it via Fortnite.
Lots of boomer mentality in this comment section
No, all those points are valid. It's 100% frustrating to see this get confirmed. There is no actual downside to having Samus in Fortnite. It'd be even better if Nintendo went more in on it and did things like what other kinds of media are doing in the game making entire island experiences, which they could do with Super Nintendo World. Fortnite does put plenty of attention to detail in their crossovers and I guarantee they would treat someone like Samus very well. Fortnite has not destroyed any brand or franchise with representing and it would not do that to Metroid. At least that is what someone who's actually played both franchises thinks.
I totally concur - and have to say something possibly blasphemous here...
But after Super Smash Bros., Fortnite is the next best crossover representation in gaming. You can't even compete.
@@TheNerdMichael The point made about Fortnite being like a celebration of everything really in a way is rather true. Look how Invincible handled it. Of course there are downsides in general to the whole metaverse direction the game may be headed in, but I feel that debate is, in a sense, way further removed from just having Samus appear in it. As of now, it is effectively the only metaverse that works and works well at that to its credit as Metroid representation in it would add even a little to it before it ever took away from any experience.
Cuánto odio irracional.
It's dumb that Nintendo doesn't see the business potential in having a character in Fortnite on all platforms. It's also dumb that Epic wouldn't allow Nintendo to have Samus only be available on Switch.
Nintendo cates about ip. Not devalueing their ip.
This is the correct take
Hopefully Nintendo and epic will collab in the future
Why are you guys giving your thoughts on it now instead of 3 years ago? Did you guys just want an excuse to talk about Fortnite again?
Donald Mustard had an interview that was put out today from Stephen Totilo and he finally confirmed that Nintendo had a problem having her on other platforms.
@@vergil114 How did you all not assume that already? Did you forget the company we're talking about?
I did assume that. Samus was in Epic's plans that came out of that court case vs apple, but nobody flat out confirmed that Nintendo was against Samus appearing on other platforms, until today.
@@SaltyToad00 Well, we did, this is the first time it was officially confirmed with no deniability
Maybe you should look at yourself in the mirror if you feel that entitled to characters you don’t own
Nah Nintendo sees their console as this unique and special one of a kind place
If u can get their characters everywhere
Then that would cheapen the value of that one of a kind place
There’s a reason there’s not an Eiffel Tower in every city
Being in that 1 place is special
Nintendo sells a Nintendo experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else
And they stay true and honor that experience
Why would they sell out?
It’s called having integrity
Oh Joey, let it go. Your magnificent beard is soaked in tears.
This is such a nothingburger
Thank god the views are going down. Worst discussion video I’ve ever seen
Oh wow! You guys are brave to make this video. I saw a lot people that they were relieved to see thaf samus wasnt in fortnite. Hopefully those people would give a chance to listen to this video and not insta-dislike this video
If you're gonna make filler videos because of slow news, i'd rather watch you guys talk about the playstation 5 state or xbox's and their future, rather than samus in fortnite (i mean.. Really ?).
Nintendo really thinks people is not going to buy their consoles and games if their characters do cameos in another platform🤦
There are a few things I don't like or won't like seeing involving Metroid.
I don't like Other M.
I don't like the Zero Suit.
I don't like the Smash style of Ridley (until Ultimate where it's close to how Ridley should look, while Ridley looked "not too bad" in Brawl, I didn't like in Wii U/3DS how it looked like Other M's Ridley at all.)
And lastly, I would not like Samus, or anything Nintendo in general, to touch anything involving Fortnite.
Fornite sucks.
You didn't even spell it correctly.
@@SaltyToad00sorry, but I don't care to even learned the name.
@@SaltyToad00I mean Fortnite isn’t spelled correctly either. Why isn’t it called Fortnight, like the actual word?
@@lankthedank6931 How am I supposed to know?
@@SaltyToad00 My point is not everyone needs to know how to spell it, especially if they don’t care about it.
Honestly, this isn't a discussion. It's just typical fanboy complaining. If people knew the obvious facts that Nintendo stuck their guns for not allowing their characters and IP's to appear on rival consoles outside theirs, whereas Epic is more of the benefit against exclusivity, then there's no exact point at all to make this into a discussion just for the sake of it.
Come on... Samus shouldn't be in fortnite. Fortnite is somewhat of a stain on this medium. Its a tool for shameless advertising toward the younger demographic.
Being once a shelter child, experience has taught me being over protected is just as detrimental
I'll say this, Bayonetta would be a better choice for fartnite. Keep our Goddess Samus out of that garbage pit
Sony: lets put ps5 games on PC so we can get more sales
Microsoft: Lets add our exclusives to other platforms, that way we get more sales
nintendo: MYYYYY... PRECIOUS!
Nintendo is sorry there not thinking about the present there mind set is literally in the past being strict feel bad for people who take them serious good at making games but business not so much. Samus not being in Fortnite nintendo point of view its bad seeing Nintendo characters appearing in other consoles nintendo doesn't know the meaning of opportunity shows how strict minded they are.
At this point, Metroid would be better off without Nintendo. They’re holding the franchise back when it is capable of so much more.
Hope Nintendo one day changes their mind about Fortnite.
Also side note: On the topic of mobile games I'm still surprised Zelda never got a mobile game.
I know it’s not the main purpose of Fortnite, but Epic Games managed to make one of the biggest pieces of Crossovers in media and not being able to have a company like Nintendo included in this web of connections is a shame. I hope later down the line, Nintendo’s CEO (or whoever makes these decisions) will have a change of heart. I feel like series like Kid Icarus, ARMS, Astral Chain, Star Fox, Metroid, and Zelda would fit perfectly for Fortnite
It just shows how Nintendo is racist, everybody else is getting along but not Nintendo 😂
The hell does racism play into this?
Disney lets people play with their toys, that is rarely Nintendo. Doesnt need to be in that game.
Samus being banned from Fortnite is easily Nintendo's best decision in years.
Nintendo more like Lazytendo, Lazy employees does what Nintendo
What?
Got nothing to do with that
