Reminds me of the sub mission in MOH: Frontline
I was Master on a ROV Support vessel undergoing trials after an extended refit in Malta Drydocks. Were were frequently asked to move out of the camera range to prevent us appearing in the film. When the trials were complete some of the crew were ashore where Oliver Reed was partying in a bar in the Gut. This was to be his last party sadly, and he died as no doubt how he had wished to.
I know it's hopelessly inaccurate, but it actually feels like a classic 1940s-1960s navy movie.

As a Brit, I think we should ‘fess up to the similar tampering with history that took place in the British film Enigma, where cracking the code is portrayed as a British achievement, without any involvement by the French and Poles. Worst, the bad guy is Polish
I always found that Allied submariners get overshadowed by the Germans or really the Battle of the Atlantic in general.
If someone ever decided to make a movie or mini series about the Allied submarines today I would like to see one about a British submarine in the Mediterranean though I wouldn't complain over a movie about the American submariners in the Pacific, maybe about the USS Barb.
I don't think the dragon film killed Christian Bale's career somehow...
Funny how the British forget that the US Navy have the only surviving U-boat in Chicago. U-505 captured June 4, 1944. Still U-571 is a decent movie
We have one, the idiot museum cut it in half though for some reason. Yeah it's not bad, just bad history.
Yeah, a crap movie with John Bon Jovi... . Everyone who really wants to watch a very detailled and great U-Boat/Submarine movie of WW2 should watch "Das Boot" from the early 80's.
And if one likes it: There is a 6-hour-version of this, too. Recommended.
It is from the German side but most are good men and no Nazi's, just soldiers who want to survive.
Are there a shortage of decent war films to review? 96mins of ra ra American flag waving. Makes me sick. After you've seen Das Boot, every other attempt is 'Yellow Submarine'.
